  1. Interesting fact about mercenary companies hired by kings

I've spotted a lot of occasions where Lords are standing outside a sieged castle, and their info says that they're following the Lord who is sieging. However, when that Lord assaults the keep, some lords just stand around outside, not joining the fight. I think that saved me once or twice iin the early days of my kingdom, when Koingor Valdis' 300 man army decided to do that, leaving their assault force severely crippled.
  2. WARBAND - Questions About Tactics, Strategy and Overall Gameplay

Ah, it'll be the fief thing. I was keeping my three fiefs under my command, so I can still upgrade them. I'll stick with this strategy for a little while, I think the damage is done now. I'll get to work on capturing some more cities. Thanks for the reply
  3. WARBAND - Questions About Tactics, Strategy and Overall Gameplay

I've just started my kingdom, managed to take prisoner a few of the lords who like me, and got them to become my vassals. However, I seem to be getting very large negative relations with a lot of them, and they're still dropping. I can't work out why. For a while, I thought it was because my only city, Ishkoman, was under permanently, but these drops have still continued, even after the besieging force has vanished. So what's causing these relation hits?

Thanks in advance for any answers
  4. What's YOUR Perfect Battle Size?

I can't set mine past about 100 without encountering a lot of crashes on entering battles ( or trying to save the game...). The maximum level I've found that is fairly stable is about 80 a side, although on the few occasions it hasn't crashed I have been able to play the standard 150 man battles, with no lag or anything. Which makes me wonder what the heck is going on...
  5. Snake Cult Army and Lords...

Aha, silly me for not finding it.

And I *guess* I could try the Marshal route, although it's gonna take a while. Instead, I might just jump ship and go join one of the other factions. Or just adventure around the world for a while, I haven't seen much of it yet.

    Cheers,
    Elvin
  6. Snake Cult Army and Lords...

Firstly, the usual apology if this has been posted before, but I did search and this is a fairly specific question. My problem is that currently, 12 of the Lords of the Empire are stuck in Maras castle, while an 850 man Snake Cult army runs around outside. Of course, individually none of those...
  7. Bug Reports and Known Bugs

Well, that error is about the routing, and so I'd suggest turning that off ( doable in the camp menu). That ought to fix your problem, as then the game won't check to see if they're gonna run
  8. Heroes Discussion

    Possible basic traits:

Rambler: Strays a very long way from the settlement, on very long patrols ( possibly similar to the Energetic one already suggested)
Homelover: Stays within sight ( or even closer?) of his home settlement

Some more complex ones (mostly taken from historical empires/races):
Viking: Goes far, far away with lots of troops to raid other settlements, staying away for months ( well, weeks) at a time.
Greek: Maintains its own borders fiercely ( think Spartans) with disregard for his own life etc.
French: A coward! joking asides, uses predominantly horsemen.
Roman: Increased workforce efficiency, but generates more hate towards them so smaller forces will attack them more.

Others could be based on the factions, such as Vaegir settlements would create archer-heavy heroes, and they would often run from direct combat(?)
  9. 0.64 Bug Report Thread

I think, in 70 game days, I have only ever seen three fights who weren't me. Two were heroes against bandits, and one was one of my resource caravans getting ambushed, which I had to bail out fairly fast.

So is it just luck for me to find some bandits attacking peasants? Or heroes, for that matter? I never seem to be able to gain any favour with them.
  10. 0.64 Bug Report Thread

Hummm...another bug ( sorry to poke holes ) but a group of travelling peasants were running away from me. Is this because I raided a pesant-owned town? if it is, that's gonna be a mess to clean up as I don't know how to gain favour with them

  11. 0.64 Bug Report Thread

Very odd bug, no idea what caused it: my entire inventory has been arranged by item type. I have shields ( all the battered ones together, all the wooden ones together etc), then weapons then armour, then food. No idea what caused this, and it messed up my system of keeping items how I wanted them

Also, minor bug but some Nord Huntswomen don't have any hair.
  12. 0.64 Bug Report Thread

I don't know if this is an intended bug or not, but I currently have 5 peasant women, 0 peasant men, and I cannot train any of the women into a profession. The only options I have are prepare for a siege, and demand extra taxes. This has been ongoing, before this I had 3 women who I couldn't train.
  13. Custom Settlements 0.64 Download & Description & Discussion

I don't suppose you could add in what Crafters and Recruits contribute towards? Are Crafters just extra gold, and recruits just troops with the same low gold income?
  14. Request and Suggest

Can I just leave my PC on while Im afk? I know travellers and bandits may appear, but wil lI keep gaining relation if I just leave myself in scene?

And I haven't got anywhere near creating a village yet, but thanks for the tip about taverns.
  15. Request and Suggest

I don't suppose you could add an " Are you sure" button to " Demand extra taxes"? I've just had to lose two days game work because I accidentally pressed that instrad of training some more guys, giving me a -10 reputation hit, which I can't seem to get rid of.
  16. Companions - Renown / Trust

Yep there are 16. I decided that I was gonna make an army of soley companions, so I was very sure to visit EVERY tavern in the game for at least two games months, just to be sure. And it turns out that 16 men/women, no matter quite how godly they become, cannot take a fully garrisoned castle
  17. 0.63 Bug Report Thread

I walked around my settlement ( granted, it was in a straight line and I was afk) for about 5 minutes, and even after checking the Recent messages log I had not had the message appear for me, only two travellers. Is it possible either the Graphics Enhancements or Battlesizer mods are messing with the game? I wouldn't think so, but its the only non-standard thing I have.
  18. 0.63 Bug Report Thread

Seeing as i'm not entirely sure what is supposed to happen when I walk around my own settlement, let alone another one, I am not sure that this is a bug, but it seems likely to be:

I have so far never seen any messages appear when I walk around my own settlement on the map ( Stoneport ), except for travellers and one bandit. But, when I walked around some other settlements, such as Emptai, I have walked around and seen the following:
"The People of Emptai appreciate your presence
    Your troops appreciate the downtime
You gain temporary hitpoints for spending time in your settlement"

The bolded part is the bit that confuses me. I have claimed Stoneport, i've done a whole lot of organising the population, renamed my faction etc. from it. ( I even agve them tools, although I don't know what that actualyl does- can anyone enlighten me?) So I am confused as to why that message has appeared.

This bug, at least I think it is a bug, means I have no real way of increasing my relationship with my camp, asides from the very rare bandit spawn.

    Elvin 说:
I just worked out that the 99 men she had were an exact replica of the troops in my city- two caravans and a variety of Nord recruits. They'd all been cloned and given to her.
Was Katrin near the settlement, or currently in the settlement?

I have a feeling she was nearby, as she was out of the city when the battle ended. That was how I saw it so fast.

You should be able to do it at any time you own a town.
