I wrote them and sadly it is missing two but it has a lot of fundamentals of units.

To make cash I recommend caravans. To protect them early game the best way is tavern hired mercs. I prefer the musket men. Get 25 of these and no bandits can touch you early game.

Surprised to see this post still active! But my recommendation to you is to use melee troops with heavy armor.  The "European" infantry/cavalry mercs are very good once upgraded.  Once you can recruit from towns the Reiters and any type of swordsman are heavily armored and very good at taking castles.  Personally I like the guns the reiters have so I tend to pick them more often (and they do well in the field of course.)

Personally I find that the new trade system is fair and is really perceptible for making cash. Once you get 50k in a bank and become a merc, you can maintain your forces just with the interest and the loot from the battles you win.  This is for early, mid game.

The best way for me to keep my money early game is to use merc Musketeers, really low maintenance and surgical with the rifles.

I didnt die yet,  and to my pleasant surprise a good number of people are still playing multiplayer as well.

Glad to see this is still alive and valued....I may have to finish what I started then (Digs up his old saves.)

No patch since I disappeared? sadness! I may have to finally finish my troop guides then. 

I like them all but I enjoy the Balance of the Poles the best, especially because they have German and Scottish troops and awesome cavalry.  That together is hard to beat.

The developers have also mentioned several times about their intention of implementing the many missing Warband features in the coming patches after bug fixes happen.  So while the features you mention are not yet in the game, they are planned.  So far the patches have been very encouraging so I am hopeful they will show up in the near future.

Besides having pathfinding, if you need to escape you should disband all of your footsoldiers.  With my new game as Russia I have been playing on hardcore with no quitting without saving, so this has saved me many times.

This is a reflection of Eastern Europe for the last 1000 years, everyone has used lots of cavalry.  It is the way of the steppe and it influenced everyone who lives around it.  You cannot live in an area with many nations using horses in battle without fielding your own. 

This said I personally like the challenge of using majority infantry/musket armies but when this happens you just have to change your tactics.  If you want the battles easier turn down the difficulty, and if you want to fight all infantry attack a castle...

I dislike when people complain too much in this game.  For the one advantage the Crimeans have, which are horse archers, they have the disadvantage of no plate and medium infantry.  It comes down to skill in the end, if your team is better you win if you have skill and use your tools right.  I just watched Russians destroy the Crimeans on a siege because we fought them in the right place and had a balance of infantry and muskets.

I did buy it as well and the tax still applied in the text after I traded.  I kept making profit however so I continued to trade.

If the game is too easy for you choose to stop using so many cavalry.  No one is forcing you to do so. I do not think the selection of everyone needs to be lower just because you build a super powered team.  Personally I always use a balanced army because that is how I prefer to play.

There is a possible quest from city mayors that asks you to make peace between two factions.  For example if you go to a Muscovite city they will ask you to make peace with Moscow and faction X.  These are a nice way to control the peace process without making the choice yourself.  All you need to do is fight the lords or bribe them, the bribe tens to be about 12,000, but the reward for the quest is a little higher, so you can make a profit.

Oh. Is this with all lords? or does it apply to only the leaders of nations?

I am working on my Cossack and Russian guides now and will write them after I test the patch more.  I am also doing some back testing to see how the new patch changes the old factions I played.  Muskets seem to be much more important now so I'll have to reevaluate my conclusions.

Just wanted to say I enjoy using your siege server.  Considering a lot of the good games are in Europe it is nice to have a Pacific hosted game.  Thank you for the service.

thx but i wonder why swedish reiter does have polearm but no athletics. They won't ever pick up a polearm so not worth mentioning but their horse can be taken down. Weapon mastery also not realy needed since it doesn't effect anything directly so could be left out. Still love u
