its at the guide for the main storyline

so i can't  become a rhodok lord anymore since i found a gem on rhodok territory?

hey, how do i become a lord again? i've been helping the rhodoks pretty hard, have over 1000 renown, faction relation is like 48 and relation with king about 16 but still i don't get option to join the faction, i've found some realy nice gear and said to myself i would put it on when i became lord but like this i won't ever know how it felt :s

a reinforced steel shield can realy save your life if you're sieging. I usually crouch on top of the ladder with the shield in front of me while defending and it covers almost my entire body. I draw a lot of enemy bullets but my shield can withstand them and my troops won't be shot. If an enemy comes close i jump out and crush him with my mace and then go back sitting. This is a realy effective strategy where a shield does work.

I realy love sweden:
-Scottish mercs (they are awesome)
-Lifeguards (i just like them)
-Swordsmen (best anti infantry in game)
-Swedish reiter (best reiter troop ingame, awesome armor, they just look cool, they are good with both pistol and sword, they rape everything even when dismounted, they kill hussars if you manage them well...)

But still i realy want a faction that is mainly based on infantry like the rhodoks or nords in the other m&b games. Sweden comes closest but they still have those awesome reiters i'm addcted too and their infantry is rather a wall of pikes than a real infantry force.

i also think that cavalry dominates this game too much. All highest tier troops are cavalry, even with the infantry based faction of sweden. I've been desperately looking for a faction that could live without iusing cavalry but it looks nearly impossible.

It depends on faction, because yes, Sweden should not use it too much, but in Poland and Crimean Khanate cavalry was still a main force.
Not sure about Tsardom of Russia.
If it comes to Cossacks, then they used mixed forces of infantry and cavalry.

It does 92 damage against unarmored targets at optimal range, add heavy plate and extreme range at it will do as little as 18 damage (Good Miquelet Musket).  Shields also reduce musket damage significantly, Azaps often take 2 shots.

If your toon is mounted, give it to one of your companions.

you forgot that arms and legs also do less damage

first of all, dont buy faction mercs if you can't affort them. The tavern mercs do very well in the beginning and my 20 tavernmerc army an stop 10 deserted winged hussars. (ok i do half of kill but they stop them with their lances)
If you wish to make money in the early game, just visit each village you pass and buy all supplies. This way you will get about 50 per village but that is enough to pay your troops and on top of that you always have food with you since you buy everything at each village. For caravan trades i recommend trying to sale fish at the beginning. Reval often has a huge amount of fish and i get about 2K profit from a single caravan to the closest russian town (srr don't know name anymore). If you want nice caravan trades, i recommend checking for trade rumours since there can be quite usefull things there

one thing that works against having your weaps taken is always running around unarmed and when you enter a battle just pick the stuff from your storage. This however doesn't work for sieges or caravan battles so it's best to always wield at least 1 low tier weapon for cases where you can't ascess your storage. Shields and bullets can be carried as much as you want, you dont lose them

i often pick 2 or 3 guys i give all fiefs to and let the others rot. This way i have at least some vassals who love me

In 255 days in my current campaign, I've only gotten 2 items worth keeping (battered Moscow Rieter Helmet and a simple wheellock musket) granted I only have Looting level 2.

double barreled dutch carabine doesnt cost as much as the pistol and still kicks ass

i would also love to be able to perform a prison break, but i also have some ideas on how to make it even more fun.
-Why can't I let a companion help me? Especially when i'm not hostile with the city, my companions should be allowed to walk around freely so they should be able to help. Maybe something like letting you select 2 bodyguards from your companions who will follow you whenever you enter a city you aren't hostile with (and who help beat the crap out of those assassins)
You appoint them by talking to them in party menu and appoint them as bodyguard (so you wont have to pick 2 each time you enter a city). Allowing more bodyguards when you have higher renown or higher rank would also be nice
-The lord should stay with you until you get to a city of his kingdom (he wont fight however) because i think it's quite irresponsible to let a weakened lord walk around alone just after he broke out of a prison and with a whole garrison looking for him
-A manhunter party sent after you would also be nice, since they will want to capture the lord

If any or all of these could be included somewhere in the future, i would be happy

does your king pay ransom for an enemy khan?
and how do you see your kill count?

you can recruit from villages when you have joined a faction or when you haven't joined a faction and have no more than 12 troops.

I recommend recruiting tavern mercs in the early game since they dont cost so much and they are quite good. Those villagers are useless in larger forces, but you can recruit them until you have 12 because then they can help you against bandits. Thats only thing they are good for

I dont think you get money back. Its kinda stupid that you have to pay to downgrade you epic helmet to a woolen hat but it's is like that

i once became marshal from rhodok too, and summoned some lords. With 2 lords i marched towards shariz had to pass by a khergit castle on the way so i decided to eliminate them. I didn't leave any troops since i didn't want the fortress, i only wanted to kill some khergits. After i took the castle i marched on  to shariz which i took with an army that was only half as large as the defending one, and what do i get? I get demoted, don't get shariz and get a lot of controversy just because the khergits took that one castle back. DUE 1 LITTLE CASTLE MY EFFORTS IN SHARIZ WERE FOR NOTHING!!! When the king didn't grant me shariz, i decided to rebel and crushed the entire rhodok force and afetr that the swadian. IN YOUR FACE GRAVETH!!!
