SP Antiquity [WB] Dawn of Man - Reborn/Redone/Remastered

I dunno... it'd be nice if Jakub could explain, but nobody knows what's going on in his (her?) corner of the world, so who's to say? Ideally the mod would get more publicity and a team could get put together to speed things up. Since it's the only real prehistoric mod on the 'market', I was sure it would earn a bigger reception.

So the big question is, does anyone know how to remove the 'canot be used on horseback' restriction?

I use Morgh's Item Editor (http://forums.taleworlds.com/?topic=105928.0) for stuff like this

I can't change lord escape rate with TweakMB.

Make sure to open the tweak viewer at the top and search the relevant .txt files manually to see if you can't find the same location. This usually works for me.

Need to speak to Taleworld's Representative

I'm no dev, but I'd put my money on the answer being a robust 'no'

    Reforged Edition Patch Released! (2.005)

Looks like we're back to the old historical accuracy can-o'-worms.

I'd have to agree with the devs regarding accuracy - it simply wasn't done. BUT this is a game, and "wasn't done" is not the same as "couldn't be done". In that sense, I think the option should be there for players to use and abuse personally. Already you can do various unrealistic things such as equip 4 shields at a time or mix and match armours that don't compliment each other/don't fit your culture. I think outright preventing things such as this would create the 'Skyrim effect' - the game would end up always being played in the same way.

I don't think a horse archer style should be encouraged - at this time it's impractical and unrealistic - but if the player wants to arse about, I think it's only fair. That's not to say there should suddenly be horse archers and Mongols everywhere, but rather, shorter bows should be equippable whilst on horseback because it is physically possible and nothing would have stopped a Dark Age warrior from doing so if he/she actually tried.

    What troops I should use?

Most generic mercs in taverns are Christian (this includes the 'Spearmen', 'Watchmen', 'Veterans' and such), whilst the interestingly named ones such as the Svear and the Finnish Archers are (unsurprisingly) pagan. The latter tend to be very good, but also pricey and damaging to morale if mixed with Christians.

In my experience, the best troops have been Svear mercenaries (I've never managed to actually train up peasants, because all the units are at really high levels), but the cots are horrendous.

In your position, I'd just go with Irish faction troops that you recruit from towns owned by friendly lords, and take whatever you can. It's tough and not always practical to get your hands on top-notch troops in VC. I gotta say though, all my Irish characters have sucked badly, but that's probably because I'm a bad shot with bows and slings (which also suck in VC).

new armors and beards are awesome, but

Yeah, as some honest feedback - the new armours look gorgeous, and are undoubtedly impressive. The thing is, they seem kind of... too impressive, sometimes. There's now an overabundance of peasants walking around in gorgeously embroidered tunics with complex designs, and all the chainmail hauberks seem to have some special fashion twist to them (e.g. the fancy spikey bits at the bottom). I'm not gonna argue if you've got historical evidence to show that people really could and did afford such intricate designs, but it seems unlikely to me that it would be so, and I often miss the older simpler designs.

    Ok thanks.

But really the water... Vikings that can't swim.. ok lol

they rather keep the feet dry. That is why they use ships  (also the water is full of monsters, just ask Beowulf)

Then again, after killing 9 of the bloody things you'd think there wouldn't be any left.

Tone down the amount of Raiders/Ruffians roaming about.

Yup, I'd agree. These bandits are quite suicidal and far too numerous at the moment. Ideally there would be a slider or in-game tweak for them, since things such as bandit populations are so tricky to balance anyway.

I want to love this DLC...need some inspiration/encouragement

I really wish we'd get weapon choices for the tournaments, I'm sure it's been done in mods and don't imagine it would be considered a non-commercial OSP.

B Tutorial 3D [VC] Customising Armours Tutorial

And if you just select chain_wolf_01.1 and run the man_walk anim, you get a bizarre wolf thing doing a swagger with its arms crossed.  Put a smile on my face.

EDIT: oh gods, if you select the wolf skin on its own and run the anim_horse you get a horrifying manifestation of evil that will crawl down your spine and eat your liver...

Viking Conquest: Reforged Edition - Open Beta (Steam) - Update Patch 22/07/15

    Jesgard Gysson 说:
ehm i think that has been there since 1.0

Apologies, what I mean is ordinary townspeople, as the urban equivalent to 'Saxon peasant (Gebur)' etc. etc. The idea is that, due to the lesser need to have everyone at work all the time in the city (since there is no harvest to gather and the population is much greater), there would be more idle/unemployed/deadbeat people hanging around that could be potential troops. Not necessarily trained warriors, but a nice low level rabble to fill out a warband or a fyrd. That's the fluffy bit.

The gamey bit: with realistic village recruitment on, it's pretty hard to get peasant rabble at low levels. I like the feature, but with it enabled you have to either save up and get mercs from the mead hall, or spam shepherds/refugees from monasteries. Either way, by the time you've got cash to spare to bribe village reeves/elders, you can afford better than untrained villagers anyway. I barely ever actually end up recruiting villagers for this reason and <insert whiny comment about immersion here>. Sooo, by having a plausible alternative (i.e. recruiting less needed 'villager' equivalents from towns) means that during early-game you can still have untrained rabble so that your army can start from the bottom, so to speak.

Viking Conquest: Reforged Edition - Open Beta (Steam) - Update Patch 22/07/15

Devs, any possibility of making townspeople recruitable in the same style as villagers when you're in the larger cities? I'm sure there'd be plenty of deadbeats looking for work in a place like Lundenwic. I imagine that it wouldn't be so necessary for every able-bodied person to be at work, given that they're not in an agricultural community, so that might make some sense. I'm just thinking something like that might help fill the early-game difficulty in getting followers that aren't thieves or shephards or refugees etc.
  17. SomeHairyGuy

How to build up an army?

I imagine the wandering Svear or Northmathr would have a Renown requirement alongside the low honour. They're still warriors and would want to follow a famous leader, I guess. What's your renown like atm?

Uhmmm... I know I'm gonna sound like a dunce, but where can I grab the hotfix? I saw a link to it last night and thought "I'll download it tomorrow", but now I can't see the freakin' thing anywhere.
