How do you skill your companions? And: Problem with spears.

I haven't tried this personally, but you could theoretically put them in a group, give them a spear and a blunt weapon, and then command their group to use blunts only when you want them to switch. Its very manual, but should work, though it may be possible that they'd only swing their spear then :p But ya, other then that, its an AI problem.

You're honestly best off giving them sword and board or 2 handers. Without couching, mounted spearmen really aren't all that great with the AI as they still just charge straight in.

    Trading and Enterprises Tips v1.2

no, what they're talking about was a bug in v1.34 that seems to have been corrected in 1.35. What you are doing is the "right" way, though it does feel really easy.

    Irish Trade Routes

I haven't tested specifically yet, but mine should be off as it reads "Enable blah blah blah", thus set to normal, but ill try changing it when i get home and see if it changes the new recruits levels. I do however think that Sobak is right in that it only effects their XP requirement and not the actual level.

    Irish Trade Routes

Personally, I would say if anything trading is way to easy in this game. You just run around between villages, buying minerals and silver for anywhere under 100 (usually more like 30 each) then sell them at almost any town for 200 and certain towns that will pay 3-400 each. Ireland actually has some rather cheap hides and stone that you just ship over to England and sell for 2-3x. Also, you don't need to buy a ship unless you want to attack pirates, or be a pirate. Theres a ferry lane at Lynn , a village of Gwent I think?  The red country in Wales. its a 2 hour trip, so 20 coin and you're back on dry land. If in Ireland just head to the coastline directly east of that village's little peninsula.

As far as troop training goes, I will say its a tad bit ridiculous that raw recruits come out at lvl 15. This in turn makes your training skill useless until you hit lvl 16, and honestly its not extremely helpful until you can train tier 3>4 at lvl 24. I would like to see the troops' level come down 5-10 levels. On the flip side though, recruits are quite strong.

Will you be able to create your own faction in WF&S?

WF&S seems to take the original M&B approach to player kingdoms in that they dont exist. The only way to be king is to follow the storyline or declare yourself rebel king and sole ruler of every castle and town on the map

    F&S Bugs Thus far

surely it must be a bug. It makes no sense that mercenaries cant gett any better through fighting. If that is the case, they should start at regular at least over recruit.

going rebel; making my own empire

It appears that WFS is using a lot of base code from the original M&B, which unfortunately predates player kingdoms. I suspect a mod or patch to correct this flaw soon *crosses fingers*.

    About a Manual

Steam has a habit of not putting up manuals until release

I really disaprove of the way this is being sold to unsuspecting consumers

Warband wasn't an expansion, it was on a completely different engine that allowed multiplayer, improved graphics and optimizations, and many other improvements making it more of a M&B 2. Also, there is still plenty of use for M&B 1, the mods for it are much more stable and developed due to it being out what, 2-3 years longer i think? Anyway, the moral to the story, if people blindly buy games, they dug their own grave.

    BUG Reports v 1.332

    Units stationed in villages:

    A) Do not cost anything to maintain, meaning you can garrison 5000 top tier units and never pay their upkeep until you pull them out. I'm not sure if that is the bug, or if you are not suppose to be able to add to the garrison.
    B) Do not show up on your Constable's kingdom unit report.

Also, after building a mill in my village, the finance guy now says the prosperity is 0 and expected income is 0.

Line Battle Etiquette/Code of Conduct Discussion

    Ross 说:
I think the rule about shooting officers is a bit silly, it would be next to impossible to administrate and enforce it, and people would still shoot who they like.

It would be an RP honor rule and enforcing it wouldn't be necessary, but as long as the commander can freely view the battlefield after death it doesn't matter, the commander would be better off dead so he can have a birds eye view, so killing the commander isn't smart at all.

Don't kneel the line after every shot.  It's alright to kneel the first rank while in formation.  It's even alright to kneel the entire formation when not in combat or when ducking a volley in certain cases, but the regiment should spend the majority of time on their feet.  Enough of this "kneel after every shot" tactics.  Fight like men.  Stand tall and show your bravery.

    *sigh* Not this again.

Three Regiments crouching behind hills & popping up to fire = good Line battle:

Howabout don't make silly threads that aren't needed?

While I agree use of terrain is fine, what Y'all did at 2:08 wasn't a line battle, that was y'all huddling behind a hill to reload then breaking ranks to fire, falling back, repeating. Had you have moved forward together, fired, marched back, all while in formation, I could call that tactical use of terrain, but that was skirmishing.

    lancing?

Hastings was won/lost by the Saxon troops lack of discipline. The shield wall held for what many to believe to be over nine hours as the cavalry charged in and fell back. It wasn't until they gave in and chased the cavalry downhill that the Normans and the battle as a whole finally made progress. Also, as mentioned above, they didn't couche their spears. They held them outward, much like when you hold a thrust with a spear in-game.

    assigning fiefs

your minister should have an option to grant a fief to a lord.

    Alien Language

i do believe that is the actual troop name, done for authenticity. This is often the case in historically accurate mods, such as 1257 AD. lol, you should try playing Brytenwalda, now that gets confusing. The names of all lords and factions are in Old English i guess. Anyway, it gets really confusing.

    lancing?

from what i can tell, tourneys are native dittos. For instance, they also didn't decrease the practice bows accuracy like they did all the other bows.
  17. Demiwar

    Archery, Training, Shields

as i said, the main thing that they changed with bows was the accuracy. I would suggest using the item editor to make a new bow not used by the troops to act as your 99 accuracy bow. Also, remember having a higher PD then the bow requires is a basic requirement. As a horse archer with 3 PD, stick to a 0 or 1 PD bow. If you are using a 3, that's your main problem. The training bow(tournament) is a 0 PD and I believe 99 accuracy, so thats as good as you are getting accu wise.
  18. Demiwar

    Archery, Training, Shields

Archery dmg is still high from what ive seen, it's just the accuracy has been reduced to a VII Century realistic point.

The Property Market. looking to buy, sell or siege.

I like to start at the Swadian coast, Taking Praven as my capital since it has 4 villages and the Swadians are constantly at war with at least 1 and commonly 2-3 other factions. Just wait for them to be at war with the Rhodoks, Nords, and Vaegirs all at once and you'll have Praven and the three nearest Castles before they even notice.

She may be off at another feast in the kingdom. Check with a bard to see if they are having one.
