  1. I Just can't wait till these haters are gone....

Overall, this game isn't bad, but it isn't great either. It has a lot of bugs and annoyances but I can play through them, maybe some can't. I think people expected this game to be enhanced from Warband with better features. Not like removed feature such as: not being able to play female, not able to get married, no way to discuss politics and gain the kings favor (or am I mistaken here), no arena, no way to have your own faction (then again I dont know if Warband had that feature too actually).

I find the game pace slower than Warband, especially if I set the game to hard, because money is difficult to get until you amass an army and enough money to start caravan, then you start raking the thelas afterwards. Also the fighting seems slower, alot slower than Warband's The Eagle and the Radiant Cross where I felt the fighting there alot faster (I think their animations are better too to make it faster I dont know). Fighting felt like being in a very weak bullet time from Max Payne.

Likewise in Warbands but more noticeable in WF&S, the cavalry light, medium or heavy are chargers, its ok on the heavy ones but the light and medium cavalry gets killed by a even number side or either range or infantry troops. Heavy seems to be ok, but because their horse aren't heavily armored (or maybe I haven't seen heavily armored horses yet), they get shot down easy so it tends for this game to be more foot based than having a few cavalry to turn the tide.

I have yet to do sieges, academy, armor smithing, weapon smithing,horse-merchant, guild-merchant and stuff. But I'll give them a go once I amass a decent amount of fortune soon . Heard that you get options in sieges such as blowing up walls and such, I like to see that . And I LOVE how the fortresses are like small towns too, I thought that was the BESTEST feature in M&B ever, instead of just a fortress that held troops it was a small little town to go to inns and such, I reckon some villages should have inns and a small store, and can turn into a little town to a big town and such.

Enjoying the game, but its definitely not as good as Warband in my opinion and I think some of the mods like The Eagle and the Radiant Cross seem to be a more evenly paced game.
  2. Caravan = Ungodly Wealth = Boring

    nox 说:
You have to take all of the game mechanics at face value.

Presume that the prices and expenses were planned with the fact that money would mean nothing in mid-game and enjoy what of the game there is.  That's really all you can do.

Slamming your head against the wall by avoiding the obvious mechanism given to you to make money is not going to make the game more fun.

But to me that is more of a bug than an actual obvious mechanism. I understand what the game is trying to do to make it hard, but the way its making is campaign mode hard isn't "hard" per se, its just more grinding.
  3. Caravan = Ungodly Wealth = Boring

    Darkcerb 说:
I didn't know you're forced at gun point to run caravans.

No, but everything is pricey on hard such that without doing caravans I am stuck doing quests over and over and over to acquire money, I haven't tried to conquer a castle and maybe that will pay me 10k Thelas a week, but I'm pretty confident that I will STILL be stuck in this endless loop of finances till I can work out where best to make money.

This is 20 hours of game play so far. So yea its a bit annoying, I'm about to throw in the towel and fight a place for velvet and see where I can sell it to make money.

I spent more of my time in Warbands and the original doing conquests, not trying to amass a fortune to buy gear. This is becoming a grind and I dont want to spend hours and hours of grinding. This isnt MMO damnit....
  4. My guide to trading, caravans, and making horrible amounts of money (WFAS)

So far spent 10 hours with little money , its not enjoyable and I havent upgrading squat, this technique might make things a little bit more enjoyable and tolerable, I dont want to spend 100's of hours to make money before I can do something.

  5. Fire & Sword Better Than Warband ?

So far, I am struggling with money, and I been trying to do some quests, but most quests give little rewards..... So not sure what to do next still, selling loot doesnt help so the looting skill isnt as useful. Seems like that this game is more trading as I need to build up my trading skills more to make the money that this game requires me to make.
  6. Zhaker's Fire and Sword Review so far (May have spoilers so watch out :p)

[Summary] For one hour of playing so far. Out of all the Warband mods and Mount and Blade mods, this is professional yes, but the mechanics feel slow and cumbersome. This game felt slow paced and putting on fastest didn't really change the pace of the game not sure why :(. So far done a few...
  7. I want to be a woman.

For the WF&S without a female being a possible pick I am surprised, historical or accurate or what not, the "game" isnt supposed to be realistic, and I dont think players are going to try to make it realistic, as 95% of player who have WF&S would probably going to amass a large army in a month, take over the world, conquer all the lands and call themselves emperor and then make a fanfic about their adventures .

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought WF&S was based upon a setting of a story, not based upon the story, because of its "multiple" branches of the story and such.

But I guess it might take more work to release the game if they have to add the female, as they would need to script maybe some of the speeches as a female character, make female armor, maybe female speeches and such. But now that is released, someone might just mod this to have a generated female character?

  8. I really disaprove of the way this is being sold to unsuspecting consumers

    Drift 说:
Sorry, I made the first post sound like I was unhappy with the price. Considering the current discounted prices on Steam, it is a very good deal, I've put countless hours into the first 2 games and I don't regret buying them.

What I'm trying to get across is that regardless of the value of the game, a consumer thinking they are purchasing 3 games would be rather shocked when they realise they kind of haven't, and could have payed even less. The simple solution to this is to treat the games as expansions, you don't have to lower the price, it'd just make the whole process a little more transparent as the pricing scheme on M&B as it is at the moment is at odds with... well any other game I've seen on Steam, or anywhere else I can recall for that matter.

Or, using some fancy steam features which I recall the STALKER series using, just charge the same standard price for all the games, and supply a discount to anyone who owns a previous game in the series, same effect but you don't have to worry about linking the games.

    - If you get Warband (5.99) and WF&S (13.49) its about $19.48 AUD.
    - Getting M&B v1.011 Alone is (3.99)
    - If you get M&B Complete (which is M&B Original, Warband, and WF&S) its $19.99 AUD.

So you save about 50c for not getting complete M&B package here. So what is Taleworlds ripping people off again?
  9. Some questions here

So its just a modded warband game then . Oh wells I guess I was hoping for some enhancements to the game that make it more fun.
Still probably buy it since this should be a well developed mod. I like to see how this would compare to some of the existing mods out there.
  10. Some questions here

Hello, Long time lurker, short time topic poster and questionnaires. Will this game contain Naval Warfare, or is it still going to be land battles? Will this game also contain some siege weapons like catapults, trebuchets and possibly a cannon? Will this game even contain options of how you...
  11. What's happening in your game?

Update without doing anything, just playing a merc at the moment:

    - Halmaer Union: Grand Duchy has declared war on them and have hit them hard, Vasterboot and a few castles have been hit, but they been taking out Tsar Vaegir lands of Wercheg and Volga.

    - Tsardom of Vaegir: Being hit by Halmaer and their recently taken Marienburg is lost, they lay claim to Ulm and Zollern, but are about to lose to both to Ormelli.

    - HSE: Dead and buried.

    - Laurien Empire: Nothing much has changed here but they lost Wercheg and Tihr, Nibelheim is the only town left, and the Imperial State are going to bury them at this rate.

    - IS: Their going on the offensive and taking out Nibelheim with a very large force, no one has declared war on them yet except the Laurien but I think the Lion Throne might take advantage soon.

    - Lion Throne: Been hitting Ormelli but is actually losing, they have taken Rumelia at the moment.

    - Ormelli Empire: They have a VERY VERY LARGE force, and their forces range with the 500+ troops for each lord, the Padishah himself has 800 troops!!?!?!?!!?!? They have taken alot of land and although Tsardom and Lion Throne are at war against them they still be able to defend and swat their forces since most lords only have 200-300 troops. Even if combined the Ormelli seem to do better overall...

    - Grand Duchy: After making peace with the Halmaer Union after taking Vasterboot they set their sites on the Ormelli Empire.....

Personally this is wierd, I would have expected the Lion Throne to be doing what the Ormelli empire is doing not the other way around. They seem to be able to hold on towns better and supply them with 300 troops per siege on a castle or a town.

Laurien will die out to the IS I think since they ONLY have nibelheim. IS is still neutral and nobody is really attacking them save for Laurien.

Most of the lords have renounced themselves to Ormelli as well which is strange. I think they're going to conquer Calradia in 2 to 3 year game time...
  12. What's happening in your game?

Speaking of giving troops is there a way to cheat to have the option to give troops to a lord while they are inside a castle?

    Update:

Laurien got smashed by Halmaer Union....... Now they taken over it all of Laurien save for Nibelheim but the Halmaer hasnt touched it for weeks, Ormelli declared war on Halmaer to contain their size or something and begun sieging Vasterboot.

HSE is dead and buried, Lion Throne is now concentrating on Ormelli with the same reason.

Grand Duchy is sitting pretty in peace with all but lost Lwyw and Birute to Ormelli.

Imperial State has NOW begun attacking Lion Throne hitting Abdera, and I think in about 2 game weeks they will capture it since most of the Lion Throne lords are hitting Rumelia ( the Marshal is the 3rd Deva Elyham or something ) or Darende ( Mondo is hitting it with a few lords ).

Vaegir is declaring war Halmaer Union.

  13. What's happening in your game?

In the 4 games of TEATRC I noticed this as a mercenary ( just doing odd jobs not siding or helping anyone ):

    - Ormelli Empire within the 6 months if not attack or at war, will raise an army with 300+ troops or 500 troops of at least 10 lords, and pretty much decimate everything, most factions cant even withstand their assault.

    - Lion Throne in my games Lion Throne dont seem to field the numbers that Ormelli does, but does seem well to stem the tide of the Ormelli Empire, and also be able to strike HSE at the same time taking at least a town of theirs.

    - Halmaer Union will strike very slow, but when they do they do go up in numbers, and when attacked, they seem to stop any advance pretty well. Grand Duchy and Vaegirs war against this faction but Halmaer seem to have the upper hand.

    - Grand Duchy seems to do average, here, Ormelli and Halmaer Union seem to chop up a bit of their castles and towns, but as soon as they hold 2 or less towns and 4 castles they seem to be able to hold on. But they begin to turtle like the IS does (I'll explain later), but funnily enough they always strike a Lion Throne City and take it somehow while the Lion Throne at this point strikes an Imperial State city

    - Tsardom of Vaegir seem to do better against HSE, ripping them apart and taking over their lands, they field the same numbers as the Ormelli does and do heaps of damage. But because they hit HSE hard, they dont do so well against Halmaer and always seems to lose Wercheg, but eventually they do get it back, but lose either Zollern or Marienburg to the Union after they took it off HSE.

    - HSE struggles, because they are in the middle they are besieged by all sides, even Lion Throne takes either Ulm or Vienna eventually. And because they are besieged by all sides, HSE falls.

    - Laurien Empire seems to do well against HSE, but after that doesnt really do much when HSE disperse. They do strike against Tsardom and Halmaer but they never conquer anything.

    - Imperial State doesnt do much, but are great defense, as I have yet to see a combined war effort of both Ormelli, Laurien and Lion Throne take over an Imperial State town. They always seem to survive the assault even if its 5 to 1. Not sure why there.

    - Bandits seem to run rampant after a few months, and they grow to about 200 size which decimate the special knight units that Laurien field or Mercenary companies that the Halmaer Union fields.
  14. Player's Country

    1. What custom troops are you going to give for player factions? Is it all of them or just the bandit ones?
    2. What about the lord names are the just lord or you going to provide a player to make a 'lord' name?
    3. As king what bonus features would you provide it that the lords already have? And would the king be entitled to a 'tithe' or the other lords rents as well?

    Personally,

I dont like this idea, they should join a faction and be able to overthrow the king and take over the faction. Because this to me is probably a realistic way of things otherwise we're going to have a set of player faction stories about how their faction destroyed the Lion Throne by flexing their epeens on the battlefield....
  15. Tweaking this game using Tweak MB

Hey guys a question, I'm about to start tweaking the game because fighting 20 enemy lords which all have 400 to 600 troops constantly while my faction's lords is having a tea party is annoying. The marshall I got is too much of a ***** to do anything and I'm also close to cheating to so I can...
  16. Aurora Cannon? Lion Throne?

    Sir Gawain 说:
Yeah, what does he do?  All I ever hear of Saldian is that he sits on that throne, thinks up ways to subjugate more peoples and is displeased with his Devas' current lack of progress.  Does he have any other Popely duties to perform, being the head of this behemoth of the Throne?  How do we know he even exists?  Maybe he's just some smoke and mirrors and there's some crazy old little man behind a curtain somewhere...

OMG, LT is ruled by Skynet and all those Brigidiers are Terminators

More serious note: So I saw some recent lore about the Kara-Kitans, the Mylesian and I think the Ptians and how they were subjucated by Lion Throne, but was there any history on Gunther-Piedmont, because they seem to be the complete opposite of these people. I got bits and pieces of their region but nothing about how they got subjucated, or is that still being developed?
  17. Aurora Cannon? Lion Throne?

Ok How did Saldaan come up with the idea? Someone had to tell him since most of the time he is confined in his huge city surrounded by his massive army. If I remember correctly the only way Saldaan speaks to is his 2 "priestesses", he could of dreamt of the weapon then I have to say there might be a touch of magic in this game lol?
  18. Bug Reports.

In regards to sieges i notice that my lords dont assist me as a marshall for this, but they dont mind following me around. This might be annoying as I need their help in finding a defense squad of 1000+ laurien soldiers guarding their last castle after I took most of their castles and towns, is there a workaround or something so that they might assist me?
  19. [B] TEatRC Warband 1.134

    Hellmaster21:

This mod doesnt really work well with your own kingdom, from what I heard. The mod I think specifies you NOT to make your own kingdom in the game but to join a faction. But somebody might have fixed this though.
  20. Aurora Cannon? Lion Throne?

Ok so maybe they had artillery before? If not the only way that the Aurora Cannon was accepted was that the Gunther Piedmont told them how to make a devestating weapons that require Filaharn's intervention to make it possible?

    [EDIT]
In regards to the Range troops that LionThrone had before their current troops, could they be hired mercenaries, or do LT hate mercenaries because the majority of them dont follow or believe in Filaharn's philosophy?
