All I want from this update is for the AI to stop suiciding hundreds of thousands of troops with troop convoys. World Wars are a ****ing joke because of it.

Started playing HoI 4 as Japan. Not sure what I'm doing half the time, but I've already generated 85% of the world's tension.

Been doing the same. Trying to play through the campaign again, this time without cheating, but it's still far too slow paced for my liking.

If your opponent is in an alliance of some sort, you basically can keep the war going forever.

Even "primitive" races can turn their homeworlds into tomb worlds once they hit the atomic age, but massive stellar empires can't. This is bull****.

Can you destroy planets in this game? Or even just make them uninhabitable?

Well it probably works, it just works too slowly. I usually micromanage less and less in these kinds of games as I reach late game, but it's still slower than myself.

Mostly yes, but when sometimes my stations get blown up, I don't see any sector construction ships rushing to rebuild them. In fact, I usually just do a micromanagement round about once a year and rebuild them manually, with constructions ships from some arse end border of my empire. If something like that's faster than the automated solution... why is it even there?

I like that I can have the AI manage the development of dozens of colonies because otherwise I'd have no time to play the rest of the game. It takes forever to order building upgrades on developing planets, and you constantly have to go back to order new upgrades until they've caught up with your tech level (which, later in the game, means ~4 build orders per tile). That's a lot of mindless clicking I'd rather avoid.

Hell I'd love it if you could automate them even further, with them having their own fleets, science and construction ships and armies. then again the wartime AI is kinda retarded so there's probably no need for sectors to be able to defend themselves.

I have no idea what to do with sectors. I've made a random number of them based mostly on hyperlane and cultural geography, but there doesn't seem to be any limtis to how big a sector can be. I guess you want to limit the effectiveness of unrest, but if you're good enough at supressing those, is there any reason not to just put your entire empire in a single sector? Core planets not counting ofc.

Turns out this is actually true.


TL;DR you need to zoom in and mouse over the debris itself, not the exclamation icon.

I'll probably need to re-read it before the next one comes out, I simply didn't understand much of damn anything that was going on.

Still let's me do it simultaneously, so I'm calling bug, not a feature.

Bug then? What happened for me was a situation where I'd just had a colossal naval engagement and there were multiple piles of debris left behind. So since searching through debris pauses research I try to do it in bulk to minimize the loss (again, really not liking how they're handling debris research in this game). So I sent 2 science ships to the site and had them start going through the debris. Except one of the ships couldn't analyze the debris that was near the other ship. When trying to figure out why I saw that I could click "research" on the different disabeled debris piles in the situation log and they would start researching immediately. Got 5-6 debris researched at once this way.

So yeah, discovered by accident. Also if this is supposed to be a legal feature, why make the radius so goddamn small. The piles have to be practically on top of eachother.
