  1. SP Fantasy (Game of Thrones) A Clash of Kings (7.0 released 13th of May, 2019)

There's no need for an external forum. Most questions can be answered by checking the FAQ on Moddb, and people can report bugs and such there as well.

I also check this thread, a lot. If I don't respond to questions, it's either A) Because the answer can be found by using the search function or B) the question is stupid.

It makes it easier to find topics and replies to those topics if they're separate threads in a single forum. I'd like to think my google-fu isn't too bad, but over a couple of days I was trying to research the Enlisted: Captured issue I kept not finding anything conclusive about it. In fact I actually got sidetracked as the search on this thread came up with old information where you were stating you wouldn't include Freelancer in this mod. Only now do I know that it's Freelancer+Floris issue and can find relevant information on it.

But yeah, I'm sure running a separate forum might take more time then overseeing a single thread. Rather you keep working on the actual mod.

I think that's the base functionality of every mod that has the enlisted quest, there's not much anyone can do about it I guess!

Doh... Well thank you for a clear answer.

Dragonstone sucks dude. Either start your own faction (most fun), or go with the dothraki or targaryen.

I like Stannis too much not to try Dragonstone first. Anyway, there's gotta be some kind of way out of this situation, otherwise Enlisting with a lord is broken functionality.
  4. SP Fantasy (Game of Thrones) A Clash of Kings (7.0 released 13th of May, 2019)

Ok, I don't get it.... Enlisted with a Dragonstone lord. Eventually he gets defeated and captured. I escape, he stays captured for 3 weeks and I get Quest failure for Enlisted: Captured. How am I supposed to rejoin him when he's in jail in Castle Fellwood?
  5. your favorite person from the ancient era

Pyrrhus of Epirus, he would have changed the course of history if only the Tarentians and the Syracusans weren't such weaklings...
  6. Mount & Blade: 2nd Best RPG Ever?

Yeh, I dunno about M&B being better then Torment. But then again I've probably spent more time on M&B then on Torment at this point.

To be honest however I preferred Baldur's Gate II over Torment though, bot sure why none of you guys mention that one.

    Best RPG's I would say:

    1. Betrayal at Krondor.
    2. Baldur's Gate II.
    3. Darklands.
    4. Planescape: Torment.
    5. Might & Magic VII.

Notice M&B is not on the list. Mostly because the game is incomplete. its not really a game yet, its more of a real fun fighting sim with some RPG elements.
  7. How to recruit khergits?

In the Last Days mode you don't have Khergits per se, but you have Rohan Skirmishers and their whole upgrade tree.
  8. The Last Days v2.4 (for .808) ---Next Release Date Unknown!

    On the subject of Sieges:

One thing that could be possible and realistic with the given system is something similar to how a game called "Darklands" handled it. Baisically in that game you played through it with a max party of 5, so when you needed to take out a Robber Baron in his small castle what you could do is camp outside bow range from the castle and intercept all food shipments to the castle until the Baron sent out waves of troops to get some food, you would kill these troops wave by wave, until eventually the Baron tried to break through himself.

Other options included trying to sneak into the castle or talking your way in and then trying to fight your way through it until you find the baron, or set castle on fire and escape, etc. The setting on fire was more of a dialog option, the fighting through the castle might be possible however.
  9. Similar games like M&B

No, it had fights where you can block attacks and such. And do attack combos of sorts and you have control over which way you're attacking. Of course it does have magic and such, but not many enemies use it.

    You can't block directionally though.

Gamespot wrote a small preview of some new Pirate game called Tortuga. Apparently its going to have some sort of dynamic combat where you'll be able to dodge and parry directionally.

I read Penny Arcade's blog for today and a portion of it reminded me about this thread. Here's that portion of the blog:

Wanna know about marketing, ask a Marketer. Here's a couple nifty bits for ya:
    1) I have in my possession a marketing plan for NBA LIVE 2004 (don't ask how I got it... ). This marketing plan actually refers to "Hiring viral specialists to advocate NBA Live online via chat rooms targeting gaming fan sites" and "Placing offensive, defensive and PR shills into common gaming chat arenas." It goes on to outline a full page of tactics for said "Guerilla Online Marketing for Core Gamers."

    2) I actually hired a company called Hype Council (http://www.hypecouncil.com). These guys do a TON of gaming related stuff -- I actually wouldn't be surprised if it's the company referred to in your news post. Their technique is quite insidious. Let's say they were hired to pump up PA (not like you need the buzz, but whatever...). Using one of the hundreds of shill accounts they have across the net, they post a new thread that says something like "hey guys, I've been looking for some new web comics to read. Anybody have any recommendations?" This is non-threatening, and gets the community engaged. They then wait a couple days and post again, this time with "Well, I asked some friends and they suggested I check out Penny Arcade <insert link>. I thought it was pretty funny, although I didn't like all the cuss words. What do you guys think?" Again, seeking engagement, they now have stealthily inserted the client's link, thereby encouraging trial. It's all very measurable and very effective. You should see the monthly reports you get from these guys: everything is detailed. Spooky.

It's all very insidious and, I'm sure, widespread. So much so that I don't trust anything I read. Unless it's a board where I "know" the posters, I always assume everyone on the board is a shill.

Anyone think there's a bit too much HL2 hype in this thread?
  10. Similar games like M&B

You guys are forgetting Gothic and Gothic 2.
  11. The Last Days v2.4 (for .808) ---Next Release Date Unknown!

No in Vanilla the Jousting Lance had 218 range, the Great Lance had 214. The normal lance had something like 190. In this mod there's no Great or Jousting lance it seems and the normal lance only has 170 range.

Its still good, but if you're playing with AI set to good you'll get smacked more often then not when charging spearmen.

If you mean a jousting style lance, they were pulled. A bit medieval for middle earth. Regular lances are all there is. You can still find them in the arena though, just cant buy them. I might put them back into the arena merchant only if the demand is there.

Well I don't care about Jousting Lance itself, but a Great Lance would be nice. I need its range so that I don't crap myself every time I see bunch of orcs with spears/pikes.
  13. The Last Days v2.4 (for .808) ---Next Release Date Unknown!

I haven't been able to find ANY form of lance in Rohan. Found a normal lance in Gondor. I guess I should go down to Gondor again and try to find a Great Lance, need its range against those spearmen.
  14. A small victory

Actually big parties of peasants and or Refugees give black knights a run for their money when you don't interfere. This is mainly because its like 3peasants to one knight and when you don't enter battle, I guess AI calculates who's winning differntly.
  15. can i know when will the full game be completed?

Cosidering there's only like 2 developers working on this game(not counting modders) I'm surprised it got this far at all.

Anyway, its hard to say what you mean by "Finished". I'm not sure if a Storyline will ever get put in because that takes a while to design and put in. Some modder(s) has made a modification that has a complete story however, also there are some mods based on the 100 year war and on Lord of the Rings. Once you install those, what's incomplete about the game? Not all games have graphics for cities, in fact arguably the best game I've ever played, Betrayal at Krondor, only had interactable drawings for major cities and couple of boxlike buildings for minor ones.
  16. Does encumbrance apply to horseback?

Think lame horses just have horrible stats, which is why you slow down so much.
  17. Footspeed in combat

Seems like a proportional change to me. I don't really have any evidence other then personal observation.

Its really not that much harder to program in proportional change, just have a formula that has the encumbrance as one of the variables instead of having a bunch of if/else if statements. So I would be surprised if its not a proportional change.
  18. Hmm, why are females more Intelligent???

    I would say

    +1-3 str for men

+1-2 agi and +1-2 cha for women

would be the most realistic. A woman's smaller frame probably gives her a slight advantage in her agility. And in M&B world that is mostly dominated by male NPCs, a woman might have a Charismatic advantage, especially where trading is concerned.

As for the Str difference I'm not even sure why people are arguing about it. I now quote the Space Ninja from one of the Firefly episodes:
"A man is by far stronger then a woman, yet only a woman can bear a child. Does this seem fair to you?"

Anyway, sure farm girls are tough, but you can bet a farmer is tougher. While women did help on the fields, it was the man with his ox, plowing the fields.
  19. Mount & Blade Needs Your Help!

Yeh Grandia II wasn't bad. I liked playing it. But it is a quite linear Japanese Style RPG. It's fighting system actually uses the 3rd dimension for more then eye candy and the training system is sorta cool.
  20. Mount & Blade : The narcotic for the new year !

    FEAR>HL2. Although HL2 is a bit longer.
