  1. Saved Game Slots

    Bump please

Sorry, I'm not trying to hijack this post but.....

Save game slots??? What are those?? Whenever I click save in the game, it just does it. I don't get a choice of slot and there's only ever 1 game saved in 1 slot when I come to load it. Am I missing something here? How do I use more than 1 save slot?

  2. Quick Question.

Keeping both with realism and balance, there should be a similar skill for the crossbow that decreases reload time. Surely a stronger person would be able to pull back that string or whatever to reload it more efficiently. Say...3% per skill level or something, nothing overpowered, but something to keep the bow from being 10 times better than the crossbow later in the game.

Not necessarily. Crossbows were designed to allow anyone to load them with comparitively little training or strength needed. There were a number of designs, but the common theme was that as the string was under so much more pressure than a standard longbow, no human would have been able to manually load one.

The crossbow actually overtook the longbow on the battlefield and became dominant simply because of its awesome power, accuracy and lack of training required to operate one. It took years to learn how to fire a bow accurately, yet a matter of weeks to train someone to use a crossbow.

  3. I don't get it, why you guys hyping this?

I'm probably going to just rehash what everyone else has said as I haven't read all the posts in this thread yet....

The game is currently beta and it shows. There is a lot missing. However, I have never in my 21 years of playing computer games encountered combat quite like this in any other game. The dynamics are nothing short of superb and it's a hell of a lot of fun. Isn't that what playing PC games is all about? Fun?

What else do I like? No scripting! Most of the latest 1st/3rd person shooters are scripted to death. Yes, they may have incredible graphics (Doom 3), but become very tedious after a short while simply because you learn to anticipate the events. You know what's coming and you adapt. With games like this, you see variety because the battles are always different. Give me gameplay over graphics every single time. Eye candy alone just doesn't cut it. Doom 3 and Farcry were lovely to look at, but dreadfully dull because they were effectively showcases for the latest graphics engine innovations. Nothing more. (flame proof vest on!)

The graphics in this game are good, but not top notch. But, that's a good thing isn't it? I'd rather the game didn't run *only* on the latest Alienware PC because that eliminates 99% of PC owners. If the gameplay is awesome, does it really matter so much whether it's got the latest bells and whistles in DirectX?? Look at GTA Vice City for example. The graphics were pretty good, but look dated now. Yet, the game is still fantastic to play because you don't notice the lack of DirectX 9c support as you're too busy enjoying yourself.

It's all about perspective. Compare these two amazing programmers and what they've produced so far with the likes of Ubisoft, EAGames etc. and yes, they are in a different league. Yet, those companies have millions to spend on development, hardware, top graphics designers, programmers, producers, marketing etc. etc. Are their games better for all that? Not really imnsho.

Here you have a beta game that's got a hell of a lot going for it. There are still issues, there are still many things missing. But, there's a thriving community who are totally dedicated to help make this game a success and two very talented people busy behind the scenes trying to make us all happy.

Look at the current version number and play the game again with that in mind. Look at the price and tell me it's not worth the money?

If you don't understand now, you never will and this game really isn't for you. Why bother posting on the forum expecting us to sell the game to you????? Just do the same as the rest of us....download the demo....play....decide whether you like it or not....either buy it or uninstall. Simple really, isn't it?

  4. (v 0.623) Registered version crashes

    alesch said:
I think I solved the problem, it doesn't seem to crash if I shut down my anti-virus program (I use AVG) but I really have no idea what the conflict between the two could be.
I think that may be a coincidence? I switched tonight from McAfee VirusScan v7 to BitDefender Standard v8 and have tried playing with the programs running and shut down. I still get the crashes to desktop every now and then.

I've gotten a crash during combat every time I've attacked the group of bandits closest to me in the savegame above, usually when someone is killed or knocked unconscious. It's always crashed to desktop before I had a chance to get a copy of the error message. Help me armagan, you're my only hope. :)
    Same here.

It's happened several times today and always when I'm halfway through a fight with the Mountain raiders? Doh, I can't remember whether they're bandits or raiders, but you know who I mean :) This doesn't happen when fighting anyone else though, if that's any help.

I can post my savegame if you need it to bug hunt.

  8. Another impressed newbie!

I'd keep coming back to this game simply for the combat. It's a blast compared to many other games I could mention (Dungeon Lords!). I bought it this afternoon after reaching level 6 and am having problems tearing myself away from the keyboard now! .

  9. Another impressed newbie!

Hi, I found out about the game last night and downloaded the demo immediately. What can I say? It's amazing. I'll be registering the game this afternoon and have my credit card ready to go. It's always been a golden rule for me never to buy beta versions of any software, no matter what the...
