[DOWNLOAD] Prophesy of Pendor [v3.9.5 IS NOW OUT!!!]

I've been a huge fan of PoP for years.  I noticed that in the latest version, the only relatively dark skin tone has been removed from the game and the only non-white companion, Leslie, has been made white. [...]

Exactly, I've hated this change aswell. Mod is really awesome, but why do change Leslie's race? All other changes were amazing. I really enjoyed the new lethaldiran look, and so on, but why make a black girl turn into a pale ghost?
I just don't want to think weirdnesses about that...

    cheers.

    [DISCUSSION] Fan Suggestion Thread

I'm really really happy with the current state of the mod, the last changes were awesome!
From times to times I rise from death to write something here, hahah. And I see that at least two of my suggestions were implemented on the last version, even if was just coincidence or not :]

Anyways, I'd like to suggest another two things that might seems weird, but I'm just throwing in ideas, who knows, any of you guys can think something awesome from this

    1. re-design tournments. Yeahh, I'm a hardcore player and even with brainy-bots submod and max difficulty settings, I find the current tourny design a bit cheesy, easy. You can beat it easily with a bit of strategy, but lucky has a heavy hand here, if you know what i mean. Player skills are not so challenged as in other mods i've seen, it's just a 'mindless' deffend-attack-deffend-kill. Or sometimes it's just impossible, and ridiculous impossible, when for example you're at empire tournments, that mixes up cavalry and infantry. Anyways, it gets a bit boring over time. Oh, and if you're stuck on something related to game mechanics, e.g. when your horse toutches anything and seems that there's glue, and you simply cant move xD
some mods that I find the tournment design very interesting, and whatnot, challenging: 1257 ad, brytenwalda, la guerre du cent ans. Every one of these has an unique flavour. At least, just consider taking a look at it :]

    2. yay, now we have capes on armors!!! Konr@d did a very impressive work here, aswell in every visual change, to say the least. This suggestion is a bit of... how can I put this... weird? But oh well, here we go: is it possible to design wings on an armor? something discreet, nothing too shinny or big. Just a bit of flavor that might or might not add to the immersion of the game. Lore-wise? I don't know where it would fit, but thinking on the awesomeness of a hero npc wearing wings on the battlefield... just think about it for a while. I think it would be epic
The wings I have in mind are ones from ol' Heroes of Might and Magic IV. Idk, I just find this combo of beautiful shining plate armor and wings something that would be on any adventurer's dreams :]

What I'm really concerned about is the snek stronghold

    From what the wiki says:
    50 serpents
    50 anacondas
    100 cobras
    300 armsmen
    500 followers
    Hey bud, what's up?
I really enjoyed reading your history on your currently playthrough, and I beg your perdon in advance for my not-so-good english proficience xD

I use to play pop from times to times, and I really do enjoy this mod. Although I'm not very active here in the forums, I'm always reading comments, even when i'm not playing, hahah. I can say I really love this work these guys done with this game...

About the snake stronghold, let me tell you my history with this quest:
Ive finished this grandmaster quest on about 6 different playthrouhgs, and every single time it was really, really hard and with a lot of reloads. But meanwhile i've noticed some things that might help your strategy, because after several playthroughs over the years, it happens that yersterday I had a surprise while doing this very quest: I've called 3 lords to help me [I was marshall], from ravenstern, every lord with 200+ men party, so something around 700+ party total. And I've managed to perform very well.

1: I's important to know the design of the fortress, so if you're familiar with it, it's fine, if not, take a search at google and look how the fortress is inside. It's very, very important. There's a corner in the top of the ladder where you can't be hit by the snakes, and you can hit-and-hide from there. Be very, very careful while climbing, using a shield is optional, but might help. I was a 2-hander with a crossbow and no shield, but somehow i've managed to climb it alone, just avoiding the bolts and javelins.
When you reach the left corner on the entrance of the gate, where you can hide, it's time to play a western bang-bang game hahah. But beware...

2: KotEG makes your life way easier. But when I joined them in previous playthroughs, I've noticed you need a lot of them to make them effective. Really, 80-100 koteg tear down those snakes without much strain.
But it's not your case, as you're fighting for the silvermists. I've tried with these once, and ohhh boy... so frustrating... I mean, they do really well while they still have ammo... and while the snakes elites are not charging towards them.  They can beat the first two waves, but then they get overwhelmed by the weak cobra warriors, idk why.

3: I've tried with the empire armored crossbowmen, and was way easier. Still hard, but easier. They can soak a lot of damage, and when they run out of ammo you can charge with them as flodder until your next wave respawns. Mix them with a top armored unit [hurlscal? adventurer? something like that, just to disrupt enemy fire].

4: Empire Immortals works nicely too. But always remember, you won't be able to field many of them, as they're not your main kho.

5: As i've stated, in my currently playthrouhg I'm marshall of ravenstern, and what surprised me is that i've managed to do this quest on the first try! No need to reload. Ravenster rangers did most of the job, I had around 40 of them, plus the others from the aiding lords. Other unity that made me wonder was the ravenstern horsemen [yeah, the commoner, upgraded from ravenstern recruit]. They managed to survive a lot and kill a lot. They're weak on battlefield, but here they outperformed many good troops I had [I've joined the knights of the falcon, and poor ladies... amazing on the battlefield, but a pity when dismounted]. Kierguards survives fine aswell, but can't do many casualities to the enemies. Take a few of them with you, just in case.

6: Now, remember what i said about being aware while snipping the priestress and anaconda knights from that corner? Well, if you manage to take a lot of them down, something around 60, their reinforcment waves will begin to charge mindlessly. While this is a very good opportunity to place your archers outside the fortress [outside the entire place, not just down the ladder] and tell them to stand apart, then positioning your infantry and cavalry near the first entrance, your chance to survive until you reach your troops is very low hahah. Although every time I do this quest I never survive till the end of the battle... but it's up to you.

When the snakes begins to charge, it's mandatory to wait untill all their anacondas and priestress are beaten, before charging your troops. There will always be some cobra warriors until the very end, so be careful.

Now, one thing that really matters on this quest: the strategy on wich troops you want to spawn on your side, first, then later. You know, like the other sieges. The difference is that it's not a good idea to have just poor armored troops [eg archers] on the final of the battle. I've lost many, many times because of that, theyr armsman are weak but with so many left, you need troops that survives the most on the battlefield. That's why I think shielded infantry might be a good call. What about legionaries? or huscarls?

Oh, and i've played with maximum difficulty, damage, battle-size, etc, so yeah, I know what is frustration xD

Anyway, good luck with your gameplay, I have another character that i'm playing with realistic save, and this really makes the challenge way funnier.

Ohh, and as I do enjoy challenge, I'm using Doghotel's brainy bots mod with POP all the time. Hahahah, you should take a try and have more ~fun~  :fruity:

    p.s.
I always wondered, since I started playing, who was the owner of the amazing woman voice from the beggining of the game. Then seeing these last posts from SD I coudn't help but to google ''fawzia pendor", and the first link is the letter-tribute. Oh my, I didn't know anything about that :/ and, guess what, my favourite companion have always been Kaverra and her man-opener weapon xD
Thank you all dev team, and a late-thanks to you Fawzia, wherever you are :] This game means a lot to me.

There are many other ways of making siege assaults more difficult and buffing defenders that doesn't come in the form of confining attacking armies to climb up only 1 thin ladder. For example, ACOK does a good job at making castle and town siege layouts so complex and defender-oriented that it genuinely makes siege assaults more difficult in an effective and realistic way rather than a cheap dumb way that is the 1 ladder standard, hence look at all the improvements they've made to sieges for bannerlord or the warband mod (VC) and standalone game (WFAS) that they've made with the purpose to sell, sieges were clearly something they needed to improve.

I never got to siege in ACOK, but i did in VC, and I agree that siege scenes isnt what stands out in POP, that those in VC have way more in-depth to the pre-siege and the siege itself, they're the same from native, both the options/menu and the siege scenes, but thats coding, making this add-on a bit risky.

Right, making it like VC is a lot more work than just simply adding extra ladders to the default siege scenes, that's why I clarified that I wasn't asking dev's to do anything remotely that ambitious, especially for something that they do for free. That was more of a response in regards to Serazu saying that adding an extra ladder shouldn't be done because it would make siege assaults easier for you as a player, and my point being that there are far better ways to add "difficulty" to the game that don't come in the form of a single ladder to be used as a limiter and the only means of attacking and entering a castle, which seems more like a severely underdeveloped game mechanic to me. The only reason I brought up VC was to show that even taleworlds knows that anything else they put out from now on would need drastic improvements to it's sieges, because again, the way they are natively in warband are severely underdeveloped.

My only actual request is that an extra ladder be added to every siege scene so that siege assaults are generally smoother for the player, and to make single-handedly defending an entire castle virtually impossible by covering the only entrance.

Man, I can't help but to stand still for about 5 min watching your avatar gif. What a beautiful thing, is it any kind of chemical/biological reaction?

    Programmer needs practice

    Hey yo, what's up

    A simple question:
Is there any codes out there, or is it complicated to make a code that makes it possible for the player to "betray" a king w/o abandoning the faction? To be more specific: when you're a vassal, you may convince other lords to rebel with you, to the point that you can imprison or kill the current faction leader, taking his place.
Two things that comes to mind: make it possible for the player character becomes king of a pre-existing faction [different from the conventional way, therefore, no need to destroy the current faction, just it's king]
    2. the possibility to assing the player a 'claimant' role.

It would be really, really amazing if it could be done. Lots of inspiration for more rp-ing mods :]

ps: I posted it here because it may serve as inspiration, who knows

    [DISCUSSION] Fan Suggestion Thread

TY for the reply Konrad. What I have in mind is something like La guerre du cent ans mod, where anyhow I find the tournment more challenging - it's 1x1 each round. And the tournment system in Ano Domini - that have a ranked system - is somewhat interesting aswell. Now, think of 1x1 tourneys where the weapons choice is random - as in the current system. I guess the challenge would be real, and the lucky factor woudn't count so much. In the current system, if you're lucky your team mates do the job, if you're unlucky they're gonna die in a few seconds - then tournment is lost. That's my thought :]

p.s.: sorry for my poor english

    [DISCUSSION] Fan Suggestion Thread

I'm going to suggest the same things I've suggested for the later version:

    1. Overhaul the tournments: I know that Pendor is a mod that doesn't copies stuff from other mods, but I see no reason to not get some inspiration in the tourney settings of other mods, e.g.: Ano Domini tourny is really cool. La guerre du cent ans aswell. I mean... it doesn't need to be like these ones, but rather as examples of well suceeded changes, imo.

    2. Make some of the minor factions 'ascend' to a major faction via some conditions: eg - those that sacks cities being capable of take ownership of the fief. Or maybe make some "lords" for the minor factions: eg - K'juda the ravager, in certain circumstances, have a 'lord' dialogue options, if he's friendly with the player.

PS: these suggestions are intended for RP purposes, as I think is the funniest way to play this game :]

I think that we could have an NPC [merchant, bard, ransom broker or even a companinon, or at least a mention in a dialogue] named Konrad, heheh. Your work is amazing, dude.

BTW, idk if you're going to improve some of the other clothes - the ones that doesn't need so much strenght to wear - for the diplomatic [not knightly] characters, are we going to see any changes at these ones? :]

Just loving the game. That said, I have just one suggestion, to the current active designer, Konrad, if is it possible:

    - please, add some caped armors  - something lordish, something that makes us feel like a king... i have no idea if it would be a hard work to do... but i think it would be amazing... the only cape in the game is from the eventide helmet - and it's ugly as hell :/

please please, at least one or two caped armors... and then the fun would be complete

*oh, btw, i made a suggestion long ago, concerning the tournments design... are there plans for changing it somehow? if not, no problem, the current design is interesting either way

A short story of my current gameplay: [or: some things that makes me love this mod]
    ***
A roaming bard that found himself surrounded by enemies in the land of Pendor, after receiving a letter from his father, wich told him that he's from the direct lineage of the old kings of Pendor. Struggling for so many years, he managed to make some friends [and some enemies aswell] until the day he became a lord of the kingdom of Sarleon. His lordship was faded to end in a rebellion, after he discovered the true story of his parent's murder by the hands of King Ulric himself. After helping the refounded order of the Griffon and becoming their Grandmaster, he convinced some of his friends to unite and wipe the falling kingdom of Sarleon, therefore proclaiming himself the new king of Pendor.

    I love this armor set!

Another thing I love on this mod: immersion, immersion everywhere... here, you can fight enemies that you're able to kill on the battlefield [after captured], but you're able to fight them on tournments aswell

After fighting for so long against heretics, snake cultists and other foreing invader hordes, he learned how to craft some scary weapons and armors, to inspire fear in the hearts of his enemies. The bad thing is, he's becoming hungry for power... and there are rumours amongst the commoners that this new founded order came to seal the doom of Pendor. Some says that this new king is slowly forgetting his pure purposes, and is seeking for power over all things. Perhaps these are mere rumours... but who knows...

Well, having a single stack of berserkers won't actually affect your looting much so might as well keep them yeah

    Army of:
    • *Player Character*
    • Fierdswain Berserkers x100?

Means you should get 10/11 of all the loot, as opposed to 10/10 if you were literally alone. Not bad.

wait - the loot division is shared by stack, not troop quantity? - hell, i'll die old age but won't learn everything about this game...
