    Update: Yes, it is almost DEFINITELY the sounds that are causing the problem. If you switch both Sounds and Music off in the pre-game options (from the launcher), the game should start just fine.

    Weird.

    Edit: Fascinating, disabling sound and music gets me to the menu screen, but the game crashes when I try to start a new game.

    That's actually a possibility... I have my game in F:\Mount and Blade Warband, so it's neither in Steam nor in the Program Files folder... I'll try it out when I get the chance.

    Same issue, I recommend posting your rgl_log.txt file accompanied by [ code] [ /code] tags as I did above. Might help them find the issue.

    Spreading Out needs to be changed.

    Having played a bit more, I actually kind of like the need for composite commands to order a proper charge. Memorizing the right sequence of commands in order to pull your troops together to resist a charge, or having them switch to melee and charge the enemy is a pretty interesting element of commanders' skills.

    The idea of specialized, synchronized skill-sets has always fascinated me.  If you had two good, disciplined groups, then this could be an absolute blast.  But if any parts didn't fit, or anybody wasn't willing to fit, it'd collapse.

    It worked well on Battlefield Pirates (mod for Battlefield 1942), so I wouldn't generally deny that this degree of teamwork might be possible to achieve.

What you are playing is basically a small slice of the battle, and each character in the game stands for several dozen. Of course, I still dream of a day where we can actually have an 1:1 scale battle.

    If you want to discuss how the game resembles realistic situational awareness, you are forgetting one thing: you are looking at a flat screen with a very limited field of vision. In reality, your field of vision is actually pretty large, and you can see movement in three dimensions. If something moves even in a corner of your field of vision, your attention WILL be drawn to it.

    At this game, you essentially look through a window. Most importantly however, you do NOT have depth perception, which is maybe the single most important tool at surviving a cavalry charge in real life. Being able to turn your little window to look in any direction seems to be a fair trade against that lack of ability.

    Now, if your complaint is that people are able to turn on a dime within milliseconds based on information (i.e. look direction) others cannot see, I agree with you. Upon releasing the "look" key, the view should immediately snap to the soldier's forward direction, not the other way around (at least I think it does - don't remember right now and can't test it thanks to being on a crappy eeepc).

    It would be interesting to know the weapon stats, though. In practice, I would say the differences between line and guard are negligible, while light/rifles are simply better at shooting, worse at melee (as can be expected, them not having bayonets and all).

    This is one of the most important things I learned (or rather: remembered from WB) playing the game over the past week. It would be more intuitive if there was a special command for NW to combine F1-F3-F4-F2 into one "charge into melee" order.

    Line rotation order

    It doesn't really matter which way the individual soldiers face, as their orientation is a "soft" factor anyhow - the bots are always aware of all other units on the battlefield and can turn towards the nearest enemy in an instant. This is actually the reason why not being able to rotate the line is so annoying - I would rather have the line face the same way the individual units are facing.

    If this requires more micromanagement, that should be fine by me - asking the player to rotate their firing lines properly is not too much to ask. I don't really see the difference between this and the "move forward/backwards ten paces" command, which also just orders the squad to change their position relative to their current one.

    Start game, Main menu messed up

    It has nothing to do with storing NW resources in the vanilla patch. If you were using any mod built for 1.151 in an older version, you would likely experience bugs and crashes. It really only takes an optimisation in the source shifting some piece of code further down or anything similarly minor to make newer (or older) mods not work.

    That said, I had the same problem because I didn't notice that WB had been patched  :mrgreen:

    SP Fantasy (Game of Thrones) A Clash of Kings (7.0 released 13th of May, 2019)

    Great mod!

    Just a little feedback on performance: I am running this just fine on an Eeepc 1001PG with an Intel Onboard GPU and 512 MB RAM. FPS are between 18 and 30 at minimum settings and 1280x1024 (external screen), so really tolerable. Haven't had any crashes in about 6 hrs playing time.
