Shield wall turning turning turning

In shield wall and line formations, if a single cav unit gets behind a 100 strong infantry formation, the whole formation turns as a line as if it was a propeller. This defeats the entire purpose of a shield wall. Even F7 doesn't help. Is there a way to mitigate this or would it require TW folks tweak some stuff?

No its the direction you're pointing with your mouse which has a flag icon, also if you try to change the direction again it gives them command to look at enemy and you have to do it again, they changed it for consoles.

You have to manually place the wall - click and drag it out, or they'll always turn to the nearest threat. Same is true for archers...

Once you've manually placed your infantry, they'll stay put - soldiers will individually turn to throw javelins or arrows - and soldiers might individually run out of formation to pick up arrows and javelins or kill one off enemies, but the formation will stay in place.

You should only ever use the Face direction command and should never leave your men on face enemy as the ai is very easily exploited. The new command structure may be a pain to use having to switch back to face enemy every time you want to toggle your men to face a new direction but sadly its the system we are currently stuck with due to the simplification of the order menu to better fit consoles.

I hope that @MRay will consider giving pc players an option to use "legacy keys" instead so we can use the old system which was much easier to navigate and quicker to use especially for situations such as this.
