That's good advice. In real life too - don't tell me that finding a clone of yourself wouldn't f*ck with your head. And ultimately, the best thing to do would probably be to ignore it and carry on with your life. 

Wow, this thread veered off-topic badly. And the way I see it, it doesn't matter what your first language is, if you're posting on an English-speaking board you should either post in English or, if it is a quote, traslate it afterwards. That is, if your mother ever bothered to teach you even the most basic manners. And if there's no board for your own language, who ever told you life was fair? No one minds if your translation is a little bit off so the only person with any complaints is you. Yes, you. If one cannot fix a problem, one must learn to live with it. I might add, that does NOT include posting in your own first language, as that just confuses people, takes the thread off topic and most importantly p*sses off the vast majority of the board whose first language is not the same as yours.
Also - "only a little cowardice"? He couldn't understand you so how can he possibly retaliate? I'd say (and I think most people would agree) the very definition of a coward is one who enters a 'fight' only when their opponent cannot retaliate effectively. Think before you speak, my friend.

There is a part of code that provides for the use of firearms. This code is in native, therefore it is a bug regardless of its consequences on modding. And besides, this thread is in the bug reports section, so rather than spend the entire thread bickering about the (only slightly, if you ask me) blurred boundary let's get to fixing it, yes?

I suppose there's a comprehensive guide to putting the old flintlock into later versions, but I personally have forgotten how. Could someone point me toward such a guide, if it exists, or briefly tell me how to get the flintlock/cartridges into the shops?

I decided to capture Reyvadin, so I gathered about 45 Swadian knights and 25 hired blades from my castle and went to it. Upon reaching the town, I was informed that it had enough food for 99 days. Sod that, I'll assault it then, my force is about half the size of the garrison and I've got me, I'll be fine. At least, that's what I thought until I got into the battle and found the battle advantage so far against me that it was me and Borcha vs. more than a hundred assorted guards. Erk.
Even worse, I turned the difficulty down and treated myself to about 5 'restore health' cheats throughout the battle, but after my eventual victory the king told me he was going to give the bloody place to some other random lord despite the king's disposition toward me being something stupid like 64, because I already owned some territories. But insult to injury, the lord he gave it to already had more lands than me. And if it couldn't get any worse, I was about to mutiny when the friggin' game crashed. Noes! If I was a superstitious man, I'd say 'Fate' doesn't want me to have Reyvadin.

Damn, I love the intro movie - I'm sorely tempted to start it now, but it's midnight and I have a 9:00 lecture tomorrow (aha, today). I thought that installing DX would replace whatever was already present already - had I known better I would've just installed the disk's version in the first place. Activision tech support have so far suggested deleting my sound drivers and letting Windows reinstall its own, which didn't work, then they suggested upgrading said drivers, which also failed to achieve the desired effect, and now they are suggesting that I install the version of DirectX on the disk, i.e. DX9.0c but I'm hesitant to try this, especially since I don't have a copy of the DX10 install program to revert to (not that I couldn't acquire one I guess). And besides, according to an article on microsoft.com, DX10 contains Direct3D 9 and 9Ex in addition to the new one, 10, for backwards compatibility. I am reluctant to actually downgrade, so I'm asking for other opinions.

We needs an option to switch between formats, sez I. Out of interest, I prefer numbers - for shield condition especially; the v0.8** indicator is a crock o' sh*te. Not that I dislike everything about the latest version, the HP/shield condition indicators just annoy me.

I find aiming (with melee weapons) difficult on horseback in 1st person, so I go for 3rd person then. However, I use 1st person whenever I can (always if I'm on foot) - firstly it helps with immersion, secondly it helps me see when the enemy lets their guard down, and thirdly it's sooo damn cooool.

Heavy military hammer, says I. Good damage, lightspeed attack. There is but one downside - it's a bit short. But then, you can get about 4 swings from this in the time it takes to swing an axe or something, so it's all good. Or you could just practice.

Then I discovered the stats - since then it's been all meat. Yay! Who wants gout before their 30th birthday? 

Actually I find the English (UK) spellchecker on MS word to be very good, including the 's'/'z' switch; only technical terms (i.e. ones related to expertise in a specific subject, for example I don't think it recognises many element/compound names, as anyone who isn't a chemist probably won't need them) have been a problem in my experience, and that's because it simply doesn't have a clue what the word is (non-recognition as opposed to flawed 'correction').. It's the grammar that is sh*te - e.g. it 'corrects' the phrase "play yourself up" to "play you up" (I'm not sure the latter is commonly accepted even in the USA), as I found out a month ago. But I'm rambling - the spelling has to been almost flawless and the grammar correction even picks up incorrect spelling of the same word (e.g. "your"/"you're") (it's not all bad).
And 'English (MS)' might clear up some confusion 
(I figure with several replies it doesn't matter about prolonging the the necro'd thread)

Dagnabbit, the very day after I post the above I discover a buggerup - it has a problem with 'equilibria' (plural of 'equilibrium') and wants to just tack an 's' on the end.

Yes. A) It would insist on using American English, even on the Turkish version

Hence the 'hide assistant' (right-click on the bastard) and 'set language' (top menu bar - 'tools'/'language'/'set language') and functions. Look for "English (UK)" or, of course, "Turkish" (Fortunately for the Turks, noone has taken their language then f*cked it up but kept the name so they don't need to specify 'Turkish (Turkey)'!). Also note the "or something", suggesting that there may be alternative spelling checkers (and word processors) on the market.

Heavy military hammer, hands down. Fast, high damage; its only problem is that it has almost no reach but really that is no problem at all given 10 mins of practice. And besides, you can swing it about 3 times per second, so if you miss just bash LMB!
