    small party encounters.

Ya know how in real life, 4 people walking in the distance are harder to see from afar than 50 people? What if, when you had to fight 4 river pirates, battle began at much closer quarters as though you had bumped into them. I'm not suggesting the map size should be any smaller, but just that...

    How Refreshing Is "The New"?

I think this question is at the foundation of why we play Mount & Blade. For starters, how refreshing is to have every battleground a randomly generated terrain? Isn't it cool that we're not stuck with 2 or 3 custom made maps  for each climate? This randomize feature helps make battles new and...

    2 Handed W/ Shield

No. I haven't been able to reproduce it intentionally. It just happens at random and persists throughout an entire battle.

    2 Handed W/ Shield

I had a strange little bug while playing 8.94 where I was using a (bastered sword I think) which is both 2h and 1h. I figure that as long as you have a sheild, it's a one hander. But durring  a particular castle raid, when using it, I was getting two handed skill points. It was doing a lot less...

Does archery really need a nerf?

Know how the Huns swept across europe Killing all who opposed them? Guess what kind of troops they were? You guessed it!

depends on what you consider 'best.'  If you're talking from a strictly technical point of view, trying to maximize enemy losses while minimizing your own, I'll give it to you.  Well, actually, let me change that... cheating to give yourself tons of health and uber strength would probably be the best case for that, but horse archery is quite possibly second best.

I prefer to look at things from an enjoyment perspective... I play the characters that give me the most enjoyment.  While the feeling of plugging unsuspecting enemies from horseback 100 yards away certainly isn't unenjoyable for me, it does seem to lose its charm after a few hundred kills.  For me, it's the lack of challenge and danger.  Frankly, its easy mode, and I don't see the point of playing a game without the possibility of losing.

For me at the moment (it changes pretty much weekly) the class of choice is unmounted lightly armored 1.5 hander/shield/bow or javelins, using NPC mod to have 8 heavily armed and armored foot companions.  Absolutely nothing in horse archery compares to facing down a cavalry charge with your companions, dodging lances and cutting horses down left and right.  The battle is so much bigger and more personal when you're not some aloof god of war, smiting everyone without fear of retribution.  The satisfaction of taking out that last knight, with only 2 hp left, completely red with the blood of horse and man alike... well, it's why i still play this game after nearly 2 years.

But that's me.  If you get the most enjoyment out of horse archery, then it's the best for you, and that's the beauty of the game.

Hmmmm. I'll have to give it a try.
    You've convinced me Arthiel.

How do you footmen survive when you get swarmed? On a horse you can just blast off when you get too deep, then make wide swoops to pick off the enemy one by one. Every time my horse gets murdered, I can usually only handle 3-4 quality foot troops at a time. any more than that and there are just too many swords swinging at you at once. And you get murdered and that just isn't fun. Especially because in TLD the orcs are screaming "Death to man!" at you . I don't see how it could be any different with anyone else.
So my question is: why walk when you can ride?
It's MOUNT and blade for god's sake! Jumpin' Jellybeans....
(Just kidding, I think it's cool you guys have your own playing styles.)

I disagree. I dont think you can say that it is the best weapon combo of all in the game. A good lancer can be better - a lightly armored, fast two-handed axe wielding and javelin throwing barbarian can be better. So no, no and no.. not so. Again personal preference.
Just to make it clear I think your horribly wrong.
Firstly, Milk man, how does your barbarian defend himself from ranged attacks? His only hope against sharpshooters is the meat of his army. which often times means you are forced to sit back and watch the fight unless you want to be a moving target.  When it comes down to it. With a fast enough horse and a bow, you can be followed by X number of two handed axed or polarmed or morning starred enemy and pick them off directly behind you. If they are shielded, you just let them get close enough to hit you, and right when they pull back to strike, you let one thump right through their cranium. Even if your horse isn't as fast as your opponents you can always gain distance by taking a sharp unexpected turn.

Glass of Milk, you haven't convinced me yet.

It seems to me mounted arches with sword and shield as back up is simply the best weapon combo. I've tried playing all other weapon proficiencies and it's much harder and slower. Throwing is too inaccurate, jousting sucks if you are in close proximity or your horse dies, crossbows take eons to...
