  1. How to Take the 2nd Step?

To successfully field a large force you need a character adapted to it: high charisma for high leadership (reduced troop cost) and prisoner management (more captives = more money).

Alternatively instead of fielding a big army, field a better one. Companions are inexpensive and very powerful with a little nurturing. If you train them as cavalry and max out path-finding you can have an extremely nimble strike team able to chase down or run from any opposition on the map, letting you follow friendly lords and join their assaults or lead enemy lords into clever ambushes. Giving your companions blunt weapons is a great way to capture prisoners for ransom. Sea Raiders are excellent training for companions: they provide good experience, reasonable equipment, and low threat (companions can't die). Once you can successfully mow down Sea Raider bands at 3:1 odds or better, you're probably ready to take on the mercenary contract and fight in the big leagues.

If you have some (or all) companions learn trainer and diligently save your cash while they're leveling up, by the time you're ready for open war you can very quickly train and afford an expanded force of stock troops. If money gets tight again, just dismiss your army and hunt bounties with your companions until you can afford to recruit another sizable force and get back in the fray. Alternatively with the right gear and orders a high level and well armed band of just companions is often sufficient to defeat entire armies of lesser troops - but make sure you have a medic to patch them up between waves.
  2. Naked Wife?

    Did you marry Lady Godiva?
  3. What exatly is the claimant bug of 1.113?

Joining a claimant while already a vassal of their faction will start your own faction instead of adding you to X_Rebels. Furthermore, if you start the claimant quest while not a vassal of any realm, you will be unable to assign fiefs to lords that join the claimant faction. The dialogue to suggest fief assignments works, but the fiefs remain unclaimed and ungarrisoned.
  4. Patch 1.112

Ransom seems to be proportional to the level of the prisoner now or something? I'm getting 112 denars per sea raider rather than the usual 50. If so, excellent improvement.
  5. What to do to get yourself outta that corner?

Looters are pretty much everywhere. Sea Raiders frequent the coast near Rivacheg.

If you find your boys are getting slaughtered, don't take fresh recruits into combat until you've got a master surgeon to piece them back together. Once you've made the rounds recruiting at some friendly villages, hit the training ground and spar with 4 of the rookies at a time. After you've beaten some experience into them and moved them up a tier, they'll be much more likely to survive and you'll spend less time at the mercy of your foes.
  6. Starting my kingdom...need good location and tips if posible.

Praven was the largest city in the old Calradian Empire, so if you intend to return to the golden age of Imperial dominance it might be best to start there. If you just want to carve out your own piece of Calradia for fun and profit, somewhere isolated and defensible is best. Marshals dragging around massive armies are less likely to make it all the way to distant towns like Yalen or Wercheg.

If you plant your banner somewhere more accessible, make sure you've got the denars and troops to repel massive campaigns against your fledgling kingdom (150+ top tier troops and enough cash to cover several months upkeep). It's also a good idea to get some allies right away, either promoted companions or converted lords. It takes them a while to build up their forces, and you're likely to have hostile armies at the gates before your new castle is even furnished.
  7. Can you be King of a faction?

The mechanics exist to take over a faction, you just have to be creative.

Step 1: Gather the proletariat to your righteous cause.
Step 2: Denounce the bourgeoisie excesses of King Harlaus to his face. With an axe.
Step 3: Rise up and seize Praven in glorious revolution.
Step 4: Name your faction The People's Republic of Swadia and lead all true Swadians to victory over the capitalist oppressors.
  8. Your favorite companion

Am I the only one who voted for Deshavi? She'll cut your balls off and wear them for the +2 armor bonus.
  9. Insane amount of Bandits - very different from M&B "Classic"

In my current game all of Calradia has been at peace for more than a year, and I can't go from Suno to Praven without tripping over multiple bands of 40+ forest bandits.
  10. Anyone else still getting memory leak?

    2.6GHz quad core i7
    12GB RAM
    nVidia GeForce GTX 285

After around an hour of intensive battles it'll slow to a crawl, which is completely inappropriate given the hardware. Exiting and restarting the game seems to clear it up though.
  11. Marriage - What's your type?

I tend to favor the Spirited Coursers. Mmm. Er...Khergit. I meant Khergit.
  12. great hope for 1.105.

There are new types and models of gauntlets (such as lamellar).

Garrisoned troops still seem to cost full wages. Maybe this is intended now?
