Eh. You're the boss. Just don't want the focus to move from "making the game" to "making adverts and models to show to people about the game".

As the official main writer on this project (and mainly to bump this topic so that fanboyish n00bs can find Iron Angels and watch with bated breath as we work) I'd just like to say something.

We are still in the pre-production phase (well... if we aren't then I haven't been told about it) so don't expect screenshots for quite a while, yet. I'm writing backstories for the factions, an old associate (Purkeyda) has offered to help and will be working on concept art in the near future, and we're all just throwing ideas around. Just so y'all know. Don't expect anything too dramatic from us - at least for the moment.

He went on holiday and...erm...never came back.

Anyways, I'm going to lock this topic now so it doesn't keep rising to the top.
  4. The Stalker Hamster

    Another, more plausable, suggestion.

Well. IT is unrealistic, but the stop must happen somewhere.

Maybe change the animation for when there are people around, so that it looks like you are attacking one person. For example, if you have 3 opponents around, the swing would be more of an upward/downward swing rather than a side to side swing.

Eh...but then it would be harder to aim at your opponent and...I'd prefer it if we just kept it as it is.

It could be a lot of fun but, as some people have said already, it's unrealistic.

Yup. Dead. Dead, buried and forgotten by those who gave birth to it.

Because you'll never find two people who want to play eachother for the same amounts of time at the same time.

    That is very true, actually....

Eh, it was a nice idea, at least.

You suggesting that people find M&B campaigns boring?
lol. If thats what you think, then why play this game?

No. He is not suggesting that.

He doesn't think that it would be a great success, that's all. I'm not quite sure why thinks it would be a failure, but he does.

    Argh...

Okay...Outlawed, stop being so damned defensive. You can ignore people, and I suggest you do so. I enjoyed discussing possible ways of making an online version of M&B with you before, but I think it's being taken waaaaaay too seriously at the moment.

M&B Online Campaign will never happen. Ever. So let's just keep it as a "what if?" thread. I think that would be easier.

If anyone disagrees with my opinion or has read something that I haven't, please tell me.

A death feature would be cool, as long as it didn't force you to quit the game. Perhaps they would be forced to make a new character and start from the ground up again, with their lands split between the other lords?

The only reason I started this thread was to get people thinking and to hear opinions and ideas to make doable. The thing with starting with one castle sounds interesting. Maybe players could drop and leave, but there would be, lets say roles to fill. For example, if you join as this certain character, you have to recruit a certain number of men, join this battle, move there, or <insert objective here> each server, or map would have a list of objectives for each specific "role spot". When all objectives are met, the game ends and one side is declared winner.

    Thoughts??

Eh, I dunno. I guess I'm just worried about being paired with an idiot who doesn't follow orders.

It's kinda like Warband in a way. You begin a map, and sometimes people just shout "F&*# tactics, let's go!" and charge headlong into the enemy, while you get some people who spend ages planning and figuring out tactics and the like (I'm one of these people by the way.)

Although, if your abilities were low when you started the campaign, it would probably discourage most of the bloodthirsty crazies.

EDITE: Oh, and about the role-filling aspect. As long as the missions weren't too large, I don't see why not.

More scenes would have to be made/forced upon the players, then.

I just can't imagine "Tight-knit community" and "Huge map with dozens of castles with an annoyingly large gap between them" in the same game.

If the factions started out with just one castle, then it would be interesting. The people would have to gather an army from a set of neutral villages then expand their borders by taking the odd castle, while helping their allies/friends/press ganged strangers defend their own lands.

It would be annoying if someone quit mid-game, though...

But anyway, I still wouldn't be fully comfortable with an online compaign. Maybe the idea will grow on me, I dunno..

    I agree with Swadius, mostly.

Despite actually liking a few MMORPGs, I don't want a Mount&Blade online campaign. Ever. Deathmatch Capture the Flag (and Siege,) are fine, but an actual online campaign would kinda ruin the atmosphere for me. I like being alone in my adventures. If it was just with a friend (co-op) then that would be slightly better, but with loads of players? Nope.

Still missing after all these years and mods - Winning/Losing!

As long as you weren't forced to play the multiplayer map, I think it could be really good. Seems like a lot of work, though...
  14. The Stalker Hamster

Simple mod of native letting you be a King with vassals?

You can make it so that the "invading faction" never actually invades, though.

Yeah, Sword of Damocles is the best one. I think the Star Wars mod recently implemented Kingdom management, I dunno.

We're going to need a coder if the mod is to ever actually...be a proper mod. :???:
