  1. Quick Questions/Quick Answers (Unofficial 'Ask Questions Here' Q&A Thread)

    Hi,

I completed my first Claimant Quest ever this weekend. I am not sure this is WAD, native or Floris, but the quest just ended with the Claimant thanking me and no experience gain or other reward.

Is this the way it should be? I sort of expected a 100,000 experience point reward ...

    Thanks

  2. Garrison Troops Disappearing ... ?

I am seeing this effect with Floris 2.5 and WB 1.143. I have seen this for a long time, maybe even when playing just Diplomacy prior to Floris. It happens in castles that are not assigned to any Lord. Once you know it happens, it is part of the game and can be avoided.

It may even be justified by the status of an "ungoverned" castle, where the locals hang around but the foreigners and mercenaries wander off.
  3. Can't move on after companion return from truce-request meeting

What I didn´t think of was that you probably cannot prevent the companion from returning, but please report on your success....
  4. Can't move on after companion return from truce-request meeting

You should be able to recover the previous night´s savegame by renaming it .....

One tool one velvet in the player inventory.

Player inventory did the trick, thanks!
  6. Bug reports and known issues (v4.x, use new bug tracker instead)

    Waihti, thanks for the reply.

Since I cannot read the code (or have not yet learned to do so): how many velvet is required? I have two plus one tool, in the household. The only option I get is "hold off". Can Diplomacy override this in some way, or interfere?

The move the court from the wife "works". I get the correct menu options, tools and wool cloth are consumed wife says "I´ll move, may take some time" but the court does not move.

I am using latest WB (1.131) and latest Diplomacy (3.1), proper re-install of Diplomacy module upon upgrading to 1.131.

    Thanks

  7. Bug reports and known issues (v4.x, use new bug tracker instead)

I just would like to ask again whether nobody else has problems shifting the court as king.

I tried with velvet (lots of velvet just to be sure) from the intended location and the option to move did not appear (just "hold off"). I tried to fire my wife as minister and then move her - also to no avail.

If it is a question of having moved across to many versions - fine. If not, I would appreciate a fix.

The dialogue is definitely a bit confused (see above: wife demands wool cloth and husband promises to bring linen - Looking at how I take care of my wife´s shopping lists in RL, this might be WAD...).

    Thanks

  8. Bug reports and known issues (v4.x, use new bug tracker instead)

Aha, I tried it with velvet and tools but it didn´t work. Is it more than one velvet and one tools?

There is a confusion in the text messages anyway:

Wife says: get me two wool cloth and tools
Player answers: yes, I´ll get two linen and tools
And it it is from city it is (one?) velvet and tools

    Thanks for the tip

  9. Bug reports and known issues (v4.x, use new bug tracker instead)

I am not sure that this is a Diplomacy bug but I can no longer change my residence.

Of course my current game bridges several Native releases and Diplomacy updates (I started in June and now I am at day 1500 something).

Changing residences worked well while I was a vassal and when I finally decided to move the capital as king after having conquered a strategically better placed city it no longer worked. I have the tools and wool cloth in my household, the proper menu options show up, wife says she is going to move and a couple of days later I still find here in the old place.

Has this happened to anybody else?

Is there a way to change the residence vai the save file? Being stuck in Khudan with an empire that stretches across half the continent is extremely annoying.

    Thanks

  10. Marshalship

My impression is that the Marshall is usually the lord with the highes renown in the realm, unless he is controversial - then the 2nd highest usually gets the job.
  11. Get rid of my damn fiefs!

Talk to your companions, it´s an option in that dialogue.
  12. Feedback

ad 1) The risk you take is part of the strategy you choose. A recruiter with 20 men is very fast and hardly ever caught. A recruiter with 50 men is a sitting duck if he crosses the Ichamur, Khudan or Rivacheg areas. If a recruiter returns every time you remove this strategic aspect. If your capital is Dirrhim, a 50 man recruiter has a good chance. If your capital is Tulga, you have to import them in 20 men patches (and a lot will get caught).

    Cheers

I don't know if I had encountered a bug, but I managed to hold 4 feasts per day (on average). That's why I was able to hold 63 feasts in just a few weeks. I noticed they ended pretty quickly, so I decided to hold more. And more. And more... It certainly helped me to get my relation with Plais above zero (it was pretty strange that we were arch enemies, and he still fought side by side with me on my campaigns).
Many of the feasts I didn't enter: I just 'waited in town' until I got the messages that my lords got a +2 on their relation with me.
Good to know: I am king, I am marshal and my wife Nelda is prime minister. I didn't change this during the feasts.

How did you get the lords into town? I am king and marshal like you, with wife as prime minister, assembled my party in front of my capital Dhirrim and had a last party before setting out to kick the Nords around but had may lords sitting outside grumbling. Had to drink all the wine myself ...

Probably little use trying to out-trick a bug, have to wait for 1.12x..

  14. Steady Income?

Trade, and kill bandits while you trade.

Without a fief it is harder, because there is no place to leave your men. Consider cutting down you party to 30 - 40 men. Morale stays high and you move fast on the map (which is another advantage in trading, you get faster from place to place and it is less boring).

I am currently making about 10,000 denars a week as king with a city plus villages that are costing me about -2,500 to - 3,500 per week. 35 people in my party. I always take out some recruits with some top tier troops and train them up (or get them killed) during the one-week trips.

My top trade routes are wine from Suno to anywhere, but preferably Ahmerrad, iron from Curaw to anywhere, but preferably to Reyvadin or Khudan, spice and salt from Tulga (I think) to anywhere, flax bundle, wool, linen from Sargoth to anywhere.

    Cheers,

    T.

    Hi monnikje,

    Thoroughly enjoying your AAR!

How do you manage with the feasts? I am running 1.113 with Diplomacy 1.10.something and I run into the feast bug where every feast as king and marshall and king and not marshall stops immediately ....

    Cheers,

    T.
