    Nords Vs. Everyone

For a more steady income, buy property in a big city, some sort of enterprise. Will get you a soldi income every week.

This, this, a hundred times this. I have yet to join a faction on my latest game, which is stretching into 300 days. I have a party of 100, including myself, 4 heroes, and then a 2:3 mix of Vaegir Marksmen and Nord Huscarls (with half a dozen Veterans being ranked to replace some casualties). With no fiefs/tax income, I still gain money every week. That further means I don't actually have to take quests, capture prisoners, or raid caravans just to pay my troops. All of that becomes spending money, so I can upgrade my equipment or the equipment of my heroes.
The only problem with this is when your faction is at war with one where you have your enterprises, the income is lost for the duration of the war. It claims it is sequestered but you dont get a payout when the war ends. Now if the Nords own quite a few cities then you just need to build your enterprises in those cities. Just make sure you have good relations with the city, lord of the city and I think the king of that cities faction.
I have found the quest where you take out bandit/raider camps to be a good one for xp and gold. It does impact the Sea Raider farming but then if you are at war then you wont have much time to chase Sea raiders anyway.

Searching for tourneys is also a good way to raise a ton of money at little risk. Just ask the arena master for the nearest tournament.
    +1 this

What's the safest way to charge a ranged enemy from horse back?

Use the terrain to shield you as well. Any little hill or trees can be used to "catch" arrows and allow you to close the distance before they can get a bead on you.
One thing I try to do is have a bodyguard that follows me at the start of each battle, whether it manhunters in the early stages or later in the game a bunch of Swadian knights, they can also be used to catch a few arrows.
    Just my 2 cents

    relations

Your companions not only like and dislike other companions but they also like and dislike certain in game actions too.
If you have been raiding villages then there are a few companions that dislike that and at least 1 will talk to you afterwards saying they disapprove.
Failing quests, running from battle and pyrrhic victories also upset some companions.

For some odd reason Rolf will occasionally like it if you fail a quest, but then I dont make a habit of failing quests except for the follow the marshall quests are ones that I dont really care too much about.

Please help novice, What is the benefit of honer and acceptive point ?

I'll try to help out here.
Honour is used to determine the type of personality that you are, the higher your honour the more likely you are to have done the right and noble things in game.
What it is used for, a couple of things that I know of.
Over the course of the game as your renown and honour increase, you will receive relations boosts with other honourable lords, irrespective of the faction they are in. Even lords you may have negative relations with will get the boost.
Now it isnt a massive boost, more likely a single point at a time, I also dont know if there is a cap on the amount you can earn this way.

Also, anecdotally, when you talk to other honourable lords you have a slightly higher chance of getting a better result from any negotiations, this can also be boosted with the Persuasion skill too.

Relations with villages is worth gold, it means when you recruit from a village you have high relations with you can get more recruits than normal and/or better quality soldiers. Best I have seen is 10 Nord trained footman from a village I had 30 relations with, but I recall other players saying they got better results than that.

If you want to eventually become king...

Rhodoks are the 1 faction I hate to beseige.
Their Sharpshooters and Vet Crossbowmen make a mess of my seige force every time.
Defending against them is a little better but still isnt pretty.

I generally join the Nords, but have never joined a faction and then rebelled so not sure how that goes.

For my own kingdom I will wait till I am about lvl 20 or so and about that time the Swadians are locked in a 2 or 3 way battle so I pick one of their poorly defended castles, usually close to Dhirim and take it. Then the next target is Dhirim and then all the castles close to it.
Dhirim seems to changes hands a lot before I take it and the Swadians will make a half hearted attempt to take it back.
Its kind of a tough position to expand from as you are pretty central and your villages get looted like crazy.

Favorite Weapon Type. (Cast your vote here!)

Cant go past the sound a heavy morningstar makes as it smashes through a blocking weapon.
Theres that tink sound as it strikes the weapon and then the satisfying crunch as the spike ball strikes home.

    Heavy Morningstar +1

ps how do I vote as I love the versatility of this 1/2 hander?
pps the third 1/2 hander is the spiked staff, which is good for slaving, used by high tier Rhodok infantry and generally available from Rhodock territories

Diplomacy + allow fief trading + PBOD for 1.143

    Hi there,
I have an issue with the recruiters not able to get troops from another faction.
They only seem to return with Nords (that is my faction in this game).
I do send them out to get other faction troops and I find I cant recruit them myself fom the villages either even in villages where I have high relations.
I have followed the install instructions and it all runs well.

There was an issue a few days ago in a tournament where for 1 battle the ground in half the arena was replaced with the sky.
It hasnt happened since so i didnt bother saying anything.

    Prisoners

I currently have Prisoner Management set to 5 but I am thinking I have gone 1 point further than I needed to.
I am at the stage in my game where ransoms are nice to have but not the best way for me to make money.
I think PM of 4 was good enough for the way I play.

Does wiping out a faction make the other factions reluctant to ask for peace?

It so true about war being bad for the economy.
At the moment I am creating some fairly strong patrols to discourage raiders and bandits, also making them large enough to discourage the smaller lords armies from raiding as well.
When we go to war again I should be able to leave the cities and villages for a while to fend for themselves without taking too great a prosperity hit.
I am also using this period of peace to train troops so that I have a stockpile of quality troops in all my garrisons.

Does wiping out a faction make the other factions reluctant to ask for peace?

Well it seems Ragnar is a shrewder politician than i gave him credit for.
In the space of a a game week we have had peace with the all the remaining factions except the Sarranids.
As a result of this we have had peace with the other factions for a couple of game weeks now and have absolutely hammered any Sarranid that dares show his face in the Nord territories.
We havent taken the fight to them yet, I am thinking the Swadians or the khergits are going to get a Huscarl rush fairly soon.
    We are simply rebuilding.
It has been good for me in rebuilding the prosperity of my cities so I hope peace lasts for a little bit longer.
My cash flow went from restricted to generous to netting about 15k denar a week.
It kind of helps that I have no sequestered enterprises and the cities have gone from very poor to rich.

    Riding skill

Thanks for all the replies, definitely food for thought.
I had capped my knight class companions riding skill at 4 and was doing the same with my character too.
Perhaps that extra point would make them better horsemen and women.

    Riding skill

I wasnt aware that spirited horses required a higher riding skill.
I knew stubborn did and I havent seen many champion horses, let alone being able to afford one.
    Thanks for the answer.

    Riding skill

Is it worth putting more than 4 points into your riding skill? I am not sure why you would want to once you can ride warhorses, but am happy to hear reasons why I should.

Does wiping out a faction make the other factions reluctant to ask for peace?

Just to clarify, I am a Nord vassal and we have wiped the Vaegirs out. Now it seems no-one is willing to remain at peace with the Nords. Pretty much from day 100 (about when I joined the Nords) to now (day 500) we have been at war with at least 2 but more often all the other factions. Just...
