So as a quick update to this, I wasn't able to get the cheat menu up in the original M&B that I had. But as I like the game so much, I bought Warband anyway! Found both the sword and shield through the item lists there, and although the sword isn't very good stats-wise (but is free), the shield (called 'Kite Shield') provides really good coverage. Thanks for the info.

After doing a quick Google image search, I can't see what sword Rolf uses but it appears to be similar to the one you start the game with. What's odd about the sword in question is that I can't find any record of it anywhere. Not in the Wiki, not in images of other swords used in the game, nothing.

Same with the shield, the heraldry is changeable but the actual shape of the shield is different to the kit shields you can buy. Again, no trace in the Wiki etc.

I've managed to grab some pictures in the hope of shedding some light. Apologies for crap quality, for some reason I wasn't able to print screen!
