  1. The old discussion thread (now locked)

Just wanted to add my opinion on this mod to all of the others.  I've always loved fantasy with historical armor, and this is just that.  I'd prefer if the Swadian Order had black crosses instead of red, as I feel that red crosses are a little overdone, but aside from that I can't say I have any problems with this mod.

    Great work!
  2. Dukes and Mercenaries weapons pack

I know that most mods, and I'm guessing even native, does this, but why do the mail and plate armors have a lower defense rating than the surcoat with mail armors?
  3. Caps are black, help!

So I'm guessing the majority of people aren't seeing these problems?  There doesn't seem to be too much outcry about it, so I'm wondering why it's affecting some of us.
  4. Caps are black, help!

I'm guessing there still isn't a real fix for this problem?  I never had this problem until I installed the .903, so it's a rather annoying problem.
  5. 12th century knights

Actually... as I do believe that early great helms (those with flat tops and a face guard) came around sometime in the twelfth century, that spangenhelm wasn't from the 11th century, but later.  If it wasn't a full helm, it very well could have come into common usage around the same time as the early great helm, however, it is not.

I'm aware that spangenhelms were in use for quite a long time.  That is why I specified that it was Black-knight-blues' helmet that I was speaking of.

  7. Crusades, in their eyes just and rightous or political and unjust?

There are plenty of online translations of the Koran.
  8. Crusades, in their eyes just and rightous or political and unjust?

    Swordmaster 说:
Can you post here these quotes? (Both from Qur'an and Bible)

Well, I might derail this topic from its cause a little but, Islam have no intention to cause violent and brutal acts. The word "Islam" comes from "Selamet" which has the meaning of "peace, safety, welfare, soundness, healthiness, correctness." The brutality is within the one who did violent acts.

    Sorry for derailing.

Is that so? I was under the impression that the word "Islam" is derived from "aslama," which means something akin to "submission."

I have searched on the internet for passages in the Koran (on the internet, of course) and have found some that are quite disturbing. However, I will not post them here, as I am not 100% sure that the websites are credible.
  9. Crusades, in their eyes just and rightous or political and unjust?

    TakiJap 说:
Fortunately also many knights joined the crusades. Some of them were sons of minor nobles looking for glory, some were younger sons without lands to herit and some went for the plain believe in their righteouness. Then there were Hospitallers and Templars who as partially monks, believed in their unstoppable power and justice. Templars at least were elite soldiers who left everything behind to fight for the god, needless to say they were very cruel and feared in muslims eyes, yet at the same time admired and honored in Christian eyes.  Of course Christian people, the masses, thought that crusades were very just, what else could they believe, there was no-one to tell otherwise.

A little late on this comment, but I hadn't noticed this thread until now. Both orders that you mentioned, the Hospitallers and Templars, weren't founded until after the First Crusade, so they really didn't leave behind anything, or believe in their unstoppable power and justice.
  10. 3rd Crusade+Magic Mod

Kurjajuur, Raz's Holy War mod takes place between the Second and Third Crusades. That's probably as close as you're going to get.

This does sound a lot like Lionheart.  Good God that game sucked so badly...
  11. Operation Flashpoint 2 announced!

Those look like the old screenshots from Armed Assault before they remade the DCUs into ACUs.
  12. Roma Victor

Indeed, since "Roma" is feminine, it should be "Roma Victrix."

EDIT: But that's been discussed way too many times on their forums...
  13. americans want russian troops out of georgia.

    ...

Not gonna say a damn thing...
  14. Big religious debate thing MkII

...although I have an urge to jump into this conversation, I will suppress it...

    Twisting things, misinterpreting things... bleh...
  15. Siege of Avalon

Heh, I believe this is the second thread about SoA that you've made, and I was one of the few people that has ever played the game.

I own the game, in fact, I reinstalled it not too long ago when I saw your old Taberland avatar (least I think it was you...).  I'm only on chapter two though, as I haven't had much chance to play it.  I love the story, and wish Digital Tome was still around.  Pillars of Avalon seemed like it would've been a lot of fun.

(Yes, I've beaten it, just saying it because it seems like by my wording in my post it seems like I haven't.  :???:)
