  1. Modding Q&A [For Quick Questions and Answers]

You need to add it within the current range of mercenary troops for the to show up (unless you modify the script which can't be done from morgh's). The other way to do it in text editors is to add your new troops at the bottom (you should always be doing this anyway) and changing the existing mercenary's upgrade path to point to those new troops.

I added them  between the mercenary cavalry entry and trp_mercenaries_end, does that not count? Should I add them between actual mercenary units, say merc horsemen and merc cavalry?

Using morgh, it's easy to add units and change upgrade paths (It adds new units to the bottom of the list). The only problem is that the new merc units don't retain the 50% increase in cost, even if they are in the merc upgrade tree.

How would I go about "flagging" units as mercenaries? I don't want them showing up in taverns or anything, I just want the increased mercenary cost. I tried adding them to the troops document in native before the mercenaries_end entry, but that just jumbles everything around. I usually use morpgh's editor but that adds units to the bottom of the list.

Sorry for an easy question that's most likely has been answered before several times in this topic.

So I'm guessing your using the module system? There is a script that places mercs in taverns. "script_update_mercenary_units_of_towns".  Take a look at it, you might see whats wrong.

Actually no, I was hoping I'd be able to do it without the module system.

Using the module system, what would I have to change there to stop the game from jumbling everything around?
