    Constant disconnections

    Updating this thread since it is the most relevant I found.

    Wi-fi itself is NOT the issue here - the issue appears to be something that impacts on wi-fi use. I used to play Warband a lot last year with a USB-key wifi stick going through a standard old Netgear G router, shared by 4 people. I never had any problems with connection on my side in all that time on 150-player CRPG maps. So I know crappy wi-fi hardware used to work fine with M&B.

    Warband today is completely unplayable on any mod with the firewall turned off: there is no error message of any kind, just a return to the Host/Join game screen.

    The only thing I haven't tried is disabling the antivirus, which is something I did not have last year. However it is AVG 10 and can only be deactivated for 15 minutes or be uninstalled... I think uninstalling my anti-virus to test a game is a bit disproportionate and not something I would do if it was a solution.

    But I have not seen any indication that antivirus software can cause these problems on the forum.


    Anyway I have done the test described above and I do get spike of 1000+ ms responses:

    What does this indicate?

    I have just got a new router and internal wi-fi card this year, both brand new and higher capacity than my previous ones.

    Is it more likely to be a router settings issue, neighborhood infrastructure issue or an issue with defective hardware?

    Adventure/Single player mods with narrative

    I noticed Astrionar and am downloading it.

    I'll look at the others I hadn't heard of.

    I thought it was amazing what StoryMod managed to do which must have been 3 years (I helped beta test it), and hoped it would have been surpassed by now.

    The sandbox single-player side of the game for me got old some time ago. Total conversions, texture replacements, kingdom management/economic systems are nice but don't make it any less sandboxy. New settings are mostly fluff because you can ignore them.
