  1. TLD (The Last Days, LOTR mod) for M&B 1.011 Info

The combat is one of the main features of the game, I don't think that there is a mod at which you don't need to fight. You can of course try to command around your troops but there is still clicking required at that.
There is of course also always the auto-battle option for you, so you don't need to fight.
    thank you.

what I was trying to say was that I cannot play the last days, as I am unable to engage in combet. is there any way to play the game with a mod that does combet for me, or to play without combat as mpoor eyesight, shaky hands and misclicking means that I combat actions are to diffi8cult?

personally, as an old man with dementia, I find this game unplayable. I would prefer a melee system mod akin to Morrowwind, which would allow playing the other aspects of the game. maybe call it it the old fart mod. still occasionally pull out originally MB, but usually quite after a couple hours of frustration. (and endless misclicks and mistaps. the old tolkien mod for oMB would have been fun. Yeh I found this. Is mister milker still about?

    Day 4 of game

To the developers. I seem to have encountered a strange bug. When I go into Training at Caras Galadhon I am unable to exit the training screen. Leaving merely loops me back to the trainer.
edit: please note that I had not recruited any troops at this time (one of the on screen options).
In addendum I should note that I also leveled up in the training screen, which may have been a mistake

Edit: Did an experiment from an earlier save.
Recruited troops first and then did some training, still couldn't exit. Had not raised a level either.
Could it be something with the gog download?
Will reinstall gog version and then all of 1.011 then TLD 3.3 and the nightly. To see if that will solve the problem.

Edit 2: Actuallyjust found this on GOG
    http://www.gog.com/forum/mount_blade_series/do_mods_work_on_mount_and_blade_1/page1
Where Arthandas claims TLD works flawlessly on GOG's version.

Edit: Also could someone send me links for exactly what i need i had enhanced version of M&B is that right? and so on if you could send links here it would really help me!

    I found this useful:
    http://www.moddb.com/downloads/tld-manual-v33
Are you using MaB (mount and blade) or MABW (Mount and Blade Warband)?
And are you using a steam version? The front page here is rather out of date.

Edit: Actually read Mr Milkers post below he is incredibly helpful.

Invest in leadership upgrades.  Attack wild goblins and orcs. Try to select those with minimal wargriders, as the wolves will attack you even after the rider is dead. Effectively makes them a double count.....
Archers will be very useful to you, since the enemy do not have many heavily armoured troops.
Mind you, they do have shields - so recruit a couple of shield-breaking tanks too.

You're an elf, I think, so stay clear of the dwarves for now.... Otherwise you might  end up with new enemies you don't need!
Thank you for your helpful recommendation.
Yes I'm an Elf. I will take your advice after I can manage a bit of training training which seems glitched FTM.

    Dear Affex
From what I have read, there is no way to restore a corrupted save. One should always "save as" into a separate slot each time and rotate those saves.
  10. TLD (The Last Days, LOTR mod) for M&B 1.011 Info

To get my non fighting character started I have loaded and reloaded until he got some easy tasks in the first few days. I had miscalculated the pace of the game and now realise that this was unnecessary.Especially once I had found out about training my character. (As I am rather poor at the first person combat). Also, as I had already started this game, This First chapter is more of a "the story so far"
    Chapter 1
Summoned from Imladris,  Senni Treborius the half elven approached Lord Elrond's camp with trepidation.

What dire tasks awaited him as the dark shadow waxed in the east. As a scholar and student of military history what use could he be in this war he thought as he looked down at the cracked Rivendell archer's sword that the quarter master had allocated to him with a wry smile.
Senni approached the dour faced Dunedain supply master and requested some cram rations, to eke out his lembas, and then offered his services to the camp master.
The camp master ask Senni to carry some supplies to the Lothlorien glade at Cerin Dolen which he eagerly agreed to with delight at the prospect of visiting the fair lands of the gilded wood. As he was leaving Halbarad (one of Elrond's lieutenants) called him aside and requested that he deliver a letter to chief Grimbeorn at Beorn's house.

Senni wondered at the beauty of the gilded wood in the morning mist.
Soon he arrived at Cerin Dolen and delivered the supplys to the Lorien Lore Master there.
The Lore Master asked if he could accompany some refugees to the Woodelf Camp which he was glad to do. And then he travelled on to deliver Halbard's letter to chief Grimbeorn
who in turn asked him to carry a letter to Hladir at Caras Galadhon.
On delivering the letter Haldir asked him in return to deliver a letter to Beranor Blackfur at the Woodsmen Village. On leaving the Caras Galadhon Lore Master requested that he find 3 items of food for Caras Galadhon.
he returned to Cerin Dolen where the lore Master rewarded me for escorting the refugees to Woodelf Camp. There he also found some fish.
Upon his return to Rivendell Camp he acquired some beef and some cram for the Caras Galadhon Lore Master who rewarded him generously for this, which allowed him to purchase a saddle horse from Cerin Amroth Returning to Caras Galadhon the Lady gave  him a quest to scout  Dol Guldur
after which he delivered the message from Haldir to Beranor
who in turn gave him a message for Elland in Rivendell Camp.
On his journey back to the camp Senni felt a longing to once more gaze upon the countenance of the fair lady. She smiled upon him and he was glad until her next words filled him with dread
He a scholar in a fight with a killer of a royal bodyguard. He had given his word to the Lady, but what was he to do.

Here I pause for suggestions from more experienced players

Well done you beat me to the punch. I had even forgotten the name of the Silverlode. Must reread TLoTR again as it has been several years since I last did so.
It would had been helpful to me if you had entered game data (as in what game commands you had used) in the course of the battle. Also what day is it as you seem to have a large host. Of course I am not suggesting that you configure you AAR purely as a game aid for me. Just being wistful here.
Well done again. This makes for a nice change. I had tried to read all the posts in this thread, in order to learn how to play the game. Unfortunately the whiny bellyaching of the ungrateful players put me off by page 60. About when the mod was first released, and the babies where throwing their rattles out of the perambulator due to it not playing their favourite tune. Personally I so admire the forbearance of the modders in putting up with these
    whiny little *****es
(may my feminist friends forgive my use of the phrase which I promise I have never used before, nor ever shall again). Also may St. Aloysius Gonzaga (the patron saint of gamers in my opinion) forgive my defiling of this thread with such words, but I was so enraged by such ingratitude. Maybe we should put the modders up for beatification as exemplars of sufferance.
Anyway now I have to crack on with my own AAR, and I still don't understand the game. What I'd give for a decent guide. I have no idea why one should station troops anywhere for example.

    Day 3 off game

I am sorry, but I just have to ask this question.

When I complete a "supply food" quest, the recipient always takes my lembas. This really upsets me as this worth half the resource points (RP) rewarded, and I had to sell my arrows to get the food. The only way that I have to avoid this is to sell it first (for 20 RP),and then buy it back at (216 RP). Is it possible to store this somewhere and recover it later? I am, at this point, assuming that the morale bonus for food is cumulative (i.e. beef plus lembas equals + 35MP (Morale Points)).
Meanwhile off to see Beorn. Pity there is no AAR thread for TLD. I would consider starting one, but would not wish to cause the Modders any problems.
Oh, I've just found out what posters mean by "arena". Basically, the training that some people can give. E.g. barrack commanders.

And, to the modders, FYI, I get the message: Debug prisoners 0..., Debug captives 0... , whenever I get Killed on my own, on the map after the fight. Just FYI as I said, the games working fine, although I am reloading a save whenever this happens ATM.

Mount and Blade relies heavily on personal combat by the player, ...

    1) get a horse and a spear/lance...
    2) learn to shoot a bow and use a horse to get away from enemies to shoot them from afar...
    3) put points in Charisma, Leadership...
    4) elves are probably your best bet on the good side...

    Do not look here said:
    5) sit through first day so that volunteers will spawn, so you won't need to actually go out there alone...

So yeah, I'd just say that you should stick to the good guys, as they have troops of generally better quality, and just wait few days before jumping into the game and general quest-doing...
First let me thank you for your informative and helpful replies.
    Point by point
    1. After some thought I had realised horsemanship was a good skill to pursue (it would also let me scout and deliver messages/food quickly as any early game strategy resource earner). Would the Lothlorien saddle horse be sufficient to start with?
    2. The learning to use a bow I have tried, but am at present a extremely mediocre shot (I have not yet looked at the links that you posted, but shall later)
    3. I shall put all of my points into INT 6 & CHA 6 plus leadership, tactics, speeding up on the campaign map, and initially pole-arms for the lance.
    4. I Always wanted to play an Elf anyway, but maybe I should start with Mirkwood for my first playthrough.
    5. The idea of sitting out the first day does intrigue me, but path-finding(?) would enable me to do some of the message/scouting/delivery missions (so to be able to afford a horse sooner). Certainly there seemed to be a lot of such missions between Lothlorien and Rivendell.
I think I need to learn to turn down the difficult early missions especially executions (and find scraps seems pointless initially).
Basically just avoid fights until I am ready. If nothing else just to wander about the countryside and wonder at this mod's beauty would fill the early days. The first horse seems to be a key acquisition for me. Until then I should fly below the radar so to speak.
Does one have to pay upkeep for troops garrisoned at a friendly town/camp. And can one leave injured soldiers there. Actually I don't know how to leave anyone behind yet. Possibly I should have played vanilla MaB first. But why drink water when hot chocolate is on offer.
Again thank you both and "Amin harmuva onalle e' cormamin"

Edit: PS is there a trainer near the elves? Edit: Sorry that was a rude question!
Actually I am only able to access the barracks on the 'insettlement' screen is that correct. I've looked all over for the garrison commander.
  14. TLD (The Last Days, LOTR mod) for M&B 1.011 Info

As the MBX forum is closed for registration I have to ask this question here.
I have started two games and have failed within the first few days, because I am totally incompetent at playing the battle game.
Even as a Rivendell Elf I have problems fighting two tribal orcs on my own. And if I have to execute someone I generally lost the fight. I can't even find any scraps of metal for some of the quests. Maybe because at 56 my reaction time is to slow.
What I need to find is a way to play this as a roleplaying game with as little fighting by myself as possible.  Is that possible in this mod. I was so exited about playing in Middle Earth that I perhaps overlooked the fact that this is basically a FPS type game and I am strategist rather than a tactician (read old fart). Yet despite this I wish to persevere. Can anyone help an ancient general such as myself in playing this beautiful mod.

If you install the Enhanced version somewhere else and only overwrite the mount and blade.exe file in your GoG version with one found in the EE install, that should be fine.

(!! back up the original .exe so you have it if something goes wrong)
You replied so quickly. I am impressed. I had went to bed (I suffer from sleep apnoea), so please forgive my tardiness in replying.
The ModDb download was corrupted so I downloaded another from gamefront.com that I hope is the same one (it was the same size). I had not realised that this was the complete game! The exe is smaller than the gog version  (2,024kb as opposed to 2,679kb) so I am assuming that it is the correct one (the gog version is the size it is probably because of the DRM removal).
Anyway I copied the exe across (I did not save the old exe as I could always reinstall from gog) Come to think of it maybe that is what I should have done. Sorry my sleep apnoea makes me very confused at times.
Then I copied the TLD_3.3_nightly_patch_2014.10.03-14.27_r2034 to the MaB modules folder and extracted it overwriting all.
Then I recopied the dinput8.dll incase it had been changed.
But when I ran the exe it asked for a serial key.
I am now going to contact GOG.com about this.

    Addendum:
    Found this on GOG http://www.gog.com/forum/mount_blade_series/is_the_original_mount_and_blade_the_enhanced_version_of_1011_or_no
Seems one has to buy the MaB Warband to get a serial key
It seems the GOG version was also optimized for modern pc eg using Win7 etc.

Actually does TLD for MaBW look or play better than in MaB?

Anyway I used the MaBW serial key (MaBW is only £6.50 from GOG) and I'm off.
Now I just have to learn how to play this game. I am going to start my first game as a Rivendell elf, so wish me luck. I'll get back to you should I have any problems, And thank you so much for your help. Now where did I put my horse!
