I seem to do really well with a very simple strategy. I use mostly calvary, and make sure that I have grenades, medium or small work best for this. I have my calvary charge the enemy, and right before the two armies meet, I throw a few grenades at the front enemy ranks, it breaks the charge and makes my charge so much more effective. then I basically pull back and watch for any enemies coming in to flank my engaged forces. This tactic works wonders for me, but I have a large amount of high ranked-well equiped men, so its a later tactic for me.
