  1. Easier way to cheat XP>

I really don't want to start a scrap over the internet. as I know they are particularly pointless. But, you are already cheating to the extents of the game (to my knowledge) It is far superior to the endless struggle to upgrade your troops the legit way. although much less rewarding.
Honestly. It just rubs me the wrong way when people ask for a better way to cheat. Maybe I'm just old fashioned. but not all games hand easy cheats to you on a silver platter... Mount&Blade does.

and to top it all off. Whenever I do it gets a lot less interesting/rewarding.
although I'm sure you could care less about my experiences.

My thinking exactly....I mean seriously, a few extra key strokes are JUST TOO HARD for the OP?

In the time it takes to do one decent battle without cheats, with cheats you can recruit a couple hundred men and max them out.  I tried this after a bug from a mod deleted about 200 men.  I turned on cheat mode, teleported around to villages and then trained them men back up.  (I never did figure out how to replace the companions who got lost in limbo :???: )
  2. Shields and other stuff

The more companions you can get (that get along) the better.  After all they don't die.  Even with a high surgery skill, your troops suffer from attrition & it takes time for recruits to become top tier.  I still hire the ones I don't really want, send them off to tell everyone what a great guy I am, then let them go.

Also, new players often get the misconception that they can only have troops of their faction.  Once you are in a faction, you can only recruit troops from factions you are at war with if your rep with the village is higher than zero.  So recruit whatever troops you need to fill those gaps while you can.

Also, have all of your followers take a point or two in Trainer once they get to about level 10.  This is a personal skill so each of them train anyone (including each other) who are lower level than themselves.

Oh, and make sure you have at least a point in prisoner management.  Without it, you're throwing money away.
  3. Tactics - How to manage Cavalry effectively ?

Good Idea!  It was very clunky with it way over on the right.

Sadly I can't run the mods suggested since they don't work with the latest version (and I can't find a way to get Steam let me run an older version).
  4. Tactics - How to manage Cavalry effectively ?

    Thanks!
I always played it safe and picked a group first - missed that 0 is everyone.
I'll have to try the shift key.
I've also figured out to run random custom battles to try things out.  Since I play with no cheats and always save on exit, I was being very conservative about getting stuck in the menus during a battle.

Does anyone else dislike the HUD (from Backspace key)?  The way it it disables WASD & sometimes turns just from moving the mouse is a huge turn off.

OK so now I know what people meant when they talked about POPD.  I'll definitely give it a try.
  5. Favorite Weapon Type. (Cast your vote here!)

I'm still a huge fan of the versatility of the hand and a half weapons.  The ability to use the shield when needed, but quickly and easily switch back and forth to 2 hands when you have back shots open is great.
The bastard sword has a nice reach, but really any of the 3 of them work well.

That being said, I'm super-psyched because after a long search of many weapon smiths, I finally have a Jousting Lance - couched blunt damage ftw!

For ranged, it all depends on build.  My first time I was working on the leadership skills first, so I stuck with the nice, simple crossbow (and make sure you get the biggest one you can handle for sieges).
If you are a tournament whore, then bow is probably best.  If you happen to get a thrown, you can always use it as a pole weapon.
This time around, I've gone with thrown, just because I like having the extra slot open for a lance.
  6. Tactics - How to manage Cavalry effectively ?

My biggest problem is the difference in the group commands.

It takes six times as many keystrokes to get everyone to follow me as it did in M&B. It used to be 1, F2.  Now I have to do 1, F1, F2, 2, F1, F2, 3, F1, F2, 4, F1, F2.  By the time I get done, the other side is killing off whichever group I selected last.

First off, the commands are in menus giving you an extra keystroke (assuming you actually know the menus to just hit function keys fast).
Secondly, while its great that you can customise groups, I hate that we lost the ability to select multiple or all groups.
Perhaps I've missed something, since you can't hit escape to pause the game & look up the commands any more. In the middle of combat is a horrible time to be reserarching the three menus. In M&B, if I didn't know what a command was, I could hit Escape, look up the command, then go back into the game and hit it right away.
How the heck do you do that in Warband?
