I mean good as a whole- I'm sure their also really good at basket weaving and really good at loads of other things- but I still dont get why so many people think they are good.
I could be really good at digging up moon rocks- its not much use if I cant get to the moon!
So, let me get this straight- playing with the best gear is for weak players, and you say the nordic sword is the best piercing weapon, so therefor since you use the nordic sword you are a weak player???
I also came from HOTU- but its not dead! well, not totally dead anywho, I posted there this morning- in the last two weeks the forums gone kinda quiet though...
I think their advantage lies in having a long ranged swinging weapon allowing them to hit swords men before they get hit.
Unfortunately their lack of shield turns them into pincushions- and with the new rules meaning that a 50% archer party will camp on a hill means your going to really feel those arrows...
Does the Hired Blade tree level up quicker than the others? It always appears I get loads more hired blades than I do swandian knights...
I assume the weapon speed is the speed it takes when used to thrust not the speed it takes to couch???
Cos otherwise the best couched weapon is the longest one- damage doesn't matter when you do ten times the maximum health!
I would say the same for one handed weapons for use with mounts, damage doesn't really matter as you tend to do lots more than you need- rather the speed of the swing (allowing you to avoid the enemy shield) and the reach (allowing you to avoid the enemy spear) are the most important attributes.
Well, I didn't like how my character started off, simply because of so many sea raiders, some seem to come out of no where... so... Thanks for telling me though Rickius.
I got a question, I chose Merchant then Medicine in 0.893 but the weapon stats are different, doesn't really matter right?
You'll find it hard to do on the older versions simply because the command system isn't good enough, as for mods try without first and then have a go with them on- let me know if you find a mod that's fun!
Actually speaking of mods I should really make a leadership mod and tweak the xp earning and a few other stats and make a proper go of this!
I'd rather have more "flavor stories" than a single epic story. For example, after playing for a while and getting a really high renown, your king might feel threatened by you and kick you out and declare war on you, causing you to ally yourself with the opposing faction. If the king dies in battle, the faction might split up and have a civil war before reforming together under a new king. Attack too many caravans and merchants might send assassins after you or keep your from buying items. Underhanded merchants might commission you to attack a specific rival caravan. I think small "flavor stories" like these would improve the game much more than a single epic story.
Yeah, this is what I would like to see as well- I dont think the game needs a story, you make up the story in your own head, like when your playing civilization or one of the total wars. It doesnt need to be written down for you- all it needs is some realistic twists! Even if you have to initiate them yourself, e.g. you pay an assassin to kill the king (or you sneak in and do it yourself!) and that triggers a civil war.
One thing I would like to see is non-self appointed titles- for example if you had a habit of killing prisoners you would be called 'The Butcher' and stuff like that...
I will add to this by saying your heroes are counted as infantry when they have no horse even if they are armed with a bow or crossbow as their primary weapon!
Maybe if each hero had an option in their dialog whereby you could tell them to be infantry, archer, cavalry or horse archer?
