I think many men in this forum realizes by now, there are lots of technical game design to fit with new features.
I read in this thread someone worry to repeat grinding and wanted to retain their stats upon succession. But if you look another way, there exist solutions.
    1. To allows for guardian and tutor, ck2 esque to make the gameplay more resembles real life counterpart. In past rich men have numerous advantages, better equipments, steeds etc, not having to work hard yet surpassing most men in martial and brains.
A game started as a poacher would requires a lots of grinding AND luck, roaming battlefields and fame and not to be killed in process.
If you look to history, after succession crisis in Sultanate of Rum, a warlord armed with 400 riders declares independence to build an empire called ottoman. Why not add such oppoturnity.
    2. Allows for artifacs to increase in status and make it more fantasy like setting. I remember having books magically increase my trainer and pathfinding skills. Why not make a magical equipments, potions in PoP to increase stats or maybe drugs and doping in RL, or bizzare events like being sacrificed to an altar then "mystically altered". Although this suggestion more fit for fantasy dlc or mods.

I also wish to see rights to inherit arms, to grants coat of arms, to combine arms (like french-english union) , raise bannerets and loyal kingsguard.

I was no horse expert but i would give opinion. The mongols was notoriously known for winter campaigning. The horse was to be fatten from spring to autumn for the preparation. They would bring  at least 3 horse or more each.  2 for ride, 1 for baggage, 1 for battle horse. It would be impossible to make a whole army of cavalry without massive number of horses and it leads to grazing and watering bottleneck.

You see for one tyumen 10.000man army would at least need 30.000 horses for campaign. It would be hazardous to bring them to desert. It would means desert became an area of denial. That is why the arabs never being able to be conquered in other way around.

It also means that the arabs is not a cavalry power. The islamic warrior that popularly use horse archers are turks. Since tthe land are poor. Even they dont have any iron and bronze to make weapons without a mine,  they trade for it.

    Pivoting battle formations

    Terco_Viejo 说:
    cabe10.png

Marching into battle, our character must always go ahead to guide the troop freely, this is well reflected in the game, however sometimes we have to pause our march waiting for the rest of the unit to reach our position with the proper loss of that sense of group cohesion.

    8qXeXv.gif

    Line
Formation consisting of a succession of individuals side by side.

    Shield wall
(From the old Nordic: skjaldborg). Formation consisting of a body of warriors placed close enough to superimpose their shields in such a way that they protect each other forming a compact barrier
    .
    Loose
Individuals separated from each other to hinder the success of enemy artillery.

    Circle
Defensive formation in a circle that increases the protection of a zone or element.

    Square
A defensive formation formed by soldiers who dispose of themselves by creating a tight frame.

    Skein
Formation in triangle, more or less equilateral, in whose vertex and adjacent sides the soldiers of more push advance.

    Column
Formation where unit members stand back to back, shoulder to shoulder and looking all in the same direction.

    Scatter
Formation without defined geometry where the soldiers break the formation and move freely in the same direction.

Have you had the same feeling as me of leading units in M&B but not of being part of them? If so, let me explain about "Pivoting battle formations".

The pivoting system I imagine could be a complementary action based mainly on an anchored set of truck and trailer where the first one is our character and the second one is the unit. An action (activated/deactivated) that would allow your character to take virtual control of the formation within it.

    eje10.png

I'll give you an example with a 13x3 formation in line of an infantry unit. Applicable to all other formations

Our main character moves with w-a-s-d and is oriented with the movement of the mouse, right? The moment we activate the "pivot action" we would take control of the infantry unit being our character the active pivot becoming the axis center of the rectangle that forms the unit. Then that rectangle would swivel forward, back, left, right having as reference point our character (axis character).

But a function such as in Ryse that to hook/unhook pivot (click button in the middle of the mouse perhaps?) to your character inside a formation having the possibility of turn-advance-step-back-other actions as a whole (penalizing the capacity of movement of the character) is something that I have always expected.

Imagine that you are leading your cavalry unit with the command "follow me" making a pincer move to an enemy unit; then press F3 and follow an F1 (line formation) press "MMB" and the whole unit is grouped around your character keeping a line formation while it advances. When you reach the flank of the enemy unit you give the order to "charge" and after the cavalry charge you take control of the situation by pressing "MMB" unhooking you from the formation to have autonomy and when you leave the melee your cavalry unit would follow you as the "follow me" order would still be in force. Applicable to infantry, cavalry and projectiles.

I leave you a simple survey to see the general interest in the matter as a social experiment. Be free to comment your impressions, as well as pros and cons at a technical level, if it is possible to apply it to the current game, limitations, etc ... anything you can think of to enrich the debate.

    Thank you for participating

I open this thread to discuss with you about battle formations once again. However, this time I want to transfer an idea that arose in another thread and to avoid spamming I have decided to open this one.

I think about this, but to make the whole division to pivot to the commander would make the formation very messy and leave gaps, multiplayer considered.

Or rather we can make a player 'attach' to a formation,  let us say we play as a soldier in a noble army and attached to line 2nd division line formation and posted in 2nd row. We would automatically walk,  and can only rotate and move in few pace inside our 'circle of post', it makes an army can make a cohesive formation even with the player inside while leave no gaps and more roleplay element.

And it would make us able to use a whole formation consist of players by attaching themselves in formation.

If i would make a description it would be like a legionnaire in formation,  he can stab to sides,  make a parry, evade or make a shieldwall altogether.

It would be fun to see poor in rags,  while the emperor queens wear purple with lots of accessories.  And maybe a quest to find fancy clothes and design uniforms for customized troops.

And ... the dev went mad while they decide to release a lots of cosmetic DLC instead like PDX. Thus the fan outrage and decide to pirate it instead ..

No offense but this is also a problem to be dealt with

I have this concern about combat, let us say, two combatants were forced to do 1vs1 battle, one with faster--smaller weapon another with a big slower one. In M&B we know that it is possible to deal an even small amount of damage (eg 10 dmg) and interrupt the opponent attack. The one with faster weapon is possible to win with continuous faster attack without his opponent able to retaliate. in bannerlord if we also add the "attacker stun", we can also consider ... when the one with bigger weapon has bigger effect being stunned upon his attack were either blocked or connected. of course we also consider that in M&B, each char has 4 weapon slot and weapon speed also affected by proficiencies. Surely a player can handle this but what about the AI?

    So we can conclude:
    1. It is more advantageous to have smaller--faster weapon in 1vs1 battle against bigger weapon opponents.
    2. Even if somehow the bigger weapon one able to connect his attack, he would suffer an attacker stun thus not feasible in 1vs1 battle, and in major brawl this is a severe disadvantage to be stunned when assaulting enemy position, since we also consider flanking movement by other enemy troops.

For another instance let us consider when assaulting walls with a siege tower. If one beserker with that huge axe  throw himself to alot of enemies and attack the one with shield in front of him, he will be stunned, then raped by his enemies in his left and right.

    Think I can become Independent?

I think starting your own kingdom is matter of preparation, i have 5 cities with garrison 500++, 800++ , 1000++ in around day 650+ when i separate from my faction (and in great qualities too/ normal damage and setting).

The problem lies on money and qualis gem to upgrade my character, which were solved by doing bounty hunt KHO quest and kite UniqueSpawn to noldor. I was horrified with -27k wages in first month, and 150 days later i've solidified my power, i just need to take around 50 more days to conquer pendor with 4k marshal army.

No, i don't have CKHO and go for the available KHO. What we need is just a lot of money (700k++ and keep bounty hunt) and a lot of garrison, tier 2 troops okay but think giving them 200 Ravenstern warden or 150 EC or 100 RR and 150 RK.  The best garrison for me is Empire levy skirmishers (with balanced crossbow/60+ damage)

    Frequent saving/loading causes extreme lag

It happens to me regularly, i think it because you played the game for a long time enough. Save and Restart the game. And (for me) it works (the lag is gone).

*sorry i didn't finish reading your post, i technically re-write your post

    To much cavalry!

I agree that cavalry is OP against most troops (what do you expect when bring an army of knights against man at arms?). But i suggest to make your game more fun is to play with full damage. Armoured horse is already hard to kill with 100% damage, and more hard for your enemies to beat with 75% damage, then the game may be more balanced. I hope this help.

    Eliminating a faction for good?

Yes. I've been playing M&B for around 2 years, this is the first time it actually happens in pendor.

    Chronogically:
    1.  D'shar at war with fierdsvain and take windholm
    2. I work as a merc under Fierdsvain (managed to take 1 castle)
    3. Sarleon declare war  and harass fierdsvain lords
    4. when i think they are hopeless i broke the contract  (then never attack fierdsvain, not even once)
    5. Either d'shar, sarleon and ravenstern attack Fiersvain (d'shar and sarleon are the one which took over the fiefs, ravenstern only harass their army)
    6. Imagine 2 marshal army (d'shar and sarleon attacking their cities, even when they recover, the numbers cannot defeat the combined army)
    7. Not to forget the lords defecting
    8. when they are 2 walled fief left (1 city and castle), they hold quite long time before finished off by enormous D'shar (which is the biggest faction)

I think this might because of Empire  never defeat D'shar in battle, since they also  fight sarleon, so when empire fight D'shar, they have truce not long after.

I add, that when i was sarleon mercenary, i help  to fight d'shar, continously taking their castles.

    Eliminating a faction for good?

Or you can wait for a faction destroyed by itself.

Seriously in unique case, unlike a statement 'a faction cannot be destroyed without player assistance' , no ... THEY CAN (in pendor)

one of my game have fierdsvain destroyed (v3.8.4) even after i (as a mercenary) assist them with capturing castle. then when i abandon them and watch from sideways, one day, they were eliminated by d'shar.

What is the best way to recruit Northmathr Vikingrs?

I've played RE and usually it's no problem to recruit vikings. You must at least make them running away from you and have enough space in your party and money.

I once hear them say around this line " .... you give your men most loot" , so logically you shouldn't: 1. leave all loot behind, 2. take all loot for yourselves. I don't know exactly about reputation tho make it more fluent to recruit; i have -80 reputation no raid monasteries and church, maybe relation with pagans help?

For Addition, vikings is cheaper than mercenaries in tavern, i recruit 20 of them for around 6k-7k ; and stronger than mercenaries in towns.

You can also replenish your force fast, bring 50-100 man and you can recruit 20-50 viking in one attempt, if you have party limit 200++ and got lucky you can fill it with vikings as long you can keep morale high.

Also, you can sell weapon more expensive in bandit's hideout so it may be better to let them intact, it can give you ten of thousands penings by looting bandits ... more better than raiding villages , but yes you must decrease your rep before you can access it
