So far I have only been lurking the forums, and I am one of those people who got incredibly excited when the news of this DLC was announced at the Brytenwalda subforums, and I did not hesitate for one second to per-order it on Steam. When it was released last thursday I got on right away and started to play. And I was thrilled. The storyline (so far, I'm only back from a certain monestary) is immersive with tricky choices, naval combat is fantastic with awesomesauce on top and the weapons and armour makes it feel like I am actually in the early viking age and not some pseudo-fantasy hollywood clichè-fest. Sure, the horses I looked at did not have texture, and there is this one coward in every army who sits at the spawn point until you go and give him a good spanking, but the greatest disappointment to me as both a long time gamer, and indeed an adult human being, is a certain segment of those who post on this forum.
I still find it hard to understand the level of bile and negativity that is spewn at both Taleworlds and the VC team. Yes, the release was bad for a lot of people. Yes, there were bugs that should have been squashed long before release. But contrary to what one could expect from larger studios and dev teams, they have acknowledged the faults, made and unconditional apology and gone straight to work to fix what was broken. Seriously, you are bashing a team who are doing everything they can to repair their product, and they are doing it fast. Have you ever experienced that kind of customer service anywhere else? I know I haven't.
You have every right to be disappointed in the product you bought, and I firmly believe that there should be the option to get a refund. But you do not need to act like a bunch of cry-babies. Grow up. Ask for a refund and end it there. Or even better, be constructive and point out the bugs as you find them. It's not that hard to show some common courtesy, even on the Internet.
