    If you have windows 7 and have difficulty playing, read this.

    Nah, I got Win 7 64 too, and I keep getting crashes all the time. Yet I find myself firing up the game right away, every single time:grin: A seriously well made mod, just wish it didnt crash so often>_<

    Seems reducing battlesize from 100 to 30ish helped, though it could just be my imagination. Ill give the other stuff here a try too, to see if that helps any...

    Edit: Ok, initial report, gave M&b admin rights, set to use xp service pack 2 module, turned off formations and reduced resolution dramatically...playing 1024X768 on a 24'' wide monitor is just a crime, Usually run 1920X1080 with everything on max, but still manages to crash:/

    I feel Im at the end of my rope here. This mod frikkin rocks, but I don't know how much more of this I can take /cry

    Regarding this map....is he planning to implement boating or will you put up some kind of crossing between England and France...as well for between England and Ireland?

    If so...how the heck do you pull that one of? When I make water it's just not crossable...

    Help on modding

    Seems to me you are relatively new to the modding scene...and if that it the case...welcome^_^

    Now there is a ton of very good guides on just about every single thing about modding in M&B [Nothing about what is a good idea or not, and good taste in design though:razz:]. I suggest searching around and reading every guide you can come across...but most importantly...dont loose interest just because you come across an error or two. And remember to save often:razz:

    Excellent idea mate!:grin: I've been sort of messing around with the map editor with no apparent success and a lot of stupid questions I've been too embarrassed to ask. You have clarified some of them^_^


    EDIT: Some more retarded questions I just cant seem to figure out....I see you are using paint to start out a rough outline for the map before you import it into the mapeditor...but what is the recommended size for the actual map? I see you have selected a 726x870? Or is that just the x y chord ? What would you recommend for a decent+ size map? Im guessing it has to be a perfect square [all sides equally long:razz:]?

    Unless there is a really big river [not crossable] or something similar, what's stopping a small group of cavalry to cross the river further down and attack from the rear while your footroops are holding them off?

    What kind of M&B player are you? (Read the topic before answering the poll pls)

    Originally I guess I started out as a fighter and an opportunist. But as the game progressed, I tried out new mods and tactics and progressed ever so slowly into the role of the description of the strategist. While stile being a fan of charging head on along with my troops into battle, I discovered the joy of perfect strategy. And as a long time fan of games like Total War, I finally tried to win battles with careful planning with minimal involvement into the actual fighting, only assisting when absolutely necessary to cut heavy losses or defeat.  In the end I guess I try to always play now as a full fledged tactician and try to find every nice little mod out there that gives me more options on the battlefield like morale, formations and such...

    So I voted Tactician:smile:

    Although I see the benefit in a minimap, I actually prefer and try not to use the map at all. In a realistic situation, you would not have a map showing you the precise location of an enemy. I actually sort of hope there will be a function to disable or remove the map in the upcoming multilayer mode. Creating a secret flanking maneuver would be pointless if the other player can see the flanking troops, long before they would be actually visible on most maps:/

    Who do you want to kill in Warband?

    There is nothing more satisfying than joining the cavalry in a charge slaughtering peasants....though it takes the honor out of battle...almost:razz:

    SP Tutorial World Map Thorgrim's Map Editor [incomplete, inactive]

    I'm just messing about trying to make a map that works for fun...

    But what would be recomended for a decent large map? [maby a bit larger than native...] 3000x3000? 1000x1000? Any pointers?

    Ikke for å være kjiip eller noe, men er det noen som kan poengtere for meg hva som ville være vitsen med å oversette M&B til Norsk? Det er et kjempeprosjekt og den igjennomsnittlige nordman over 10 år burde vel kunne mer enn nok engelsk til å kunne spille M&B uten nevneverdige problemer?

    Again, this is just a random idea that I would like to see for fun, especially with mulitplayer in mind...

    AS soon as you set up a camp you can opt to put up some simple defence object like this...

    As for materials a small fence like this would prolly take and army of 100 men some rope and 5-10 minutes or so I'd guess...materials is not something one would carry around any more than you carry materials to construct a siege tower...

    You could even make it simpler with stakes put into the ground pointing in a direction. Simple set up with, making it like a low wall so troops will have to rund around while you can still fire arrows and similar across...

    Things I WOULD like to see in a expansion...

    - Better head models. With what seems to be an all round graphical update the old heads looks sort of silly and unrealistic compared to the rest of the world..

    - Flowing fabric supported/implemented. Would be nice to see a flag from the top of a castle wall or a cape moving in the wind. Not sure how hard this would be to implement though:/

    - Set your troops to follow you or hold position at the start [too easy fix this one. Still, would make things a little better:smile:]

    -Improve siges/npc ai on sieges. You see catapults and stuff in lots of sieges standing in the background. Why not have a small ingame cinematic effect where the wall crumbles down or ladders are being put up? Speaking of ladders...lets have more than ONE in a siege? Not realistic AT ALL, not very convenient for the attacker having 200+ troops trying to force their way up one single ladder while being peppred by archers:/

    -Formations. I know this has been modded in, but I would like to see it official with real support:smile: For instance a pike wall, or box formations with everyone pointing in the correct direction.

    -"Battle-preparations" ? If you for instance use the camp option before being assulted you gain some sort of bonus as you would be more prepared than just being ambushed while on the run? Maby even set up something as easy as a pike barrage, small moat or something similar.

    Could probably come up with lots more ideas, but these where the ones of the top of my head. Still....looking forward to more M&B, greatest game in a very long time:grin:

    I would guess that it only has a buttload of accuracy, as I got a small idea it would take a bumload of excess programming to implement a second scope view for scoped guns:/ Just shift zoom if you need to look closer....and besides, even though that think is like 1,5metres long, I guess the resolution of that scope is hardly what one would call amazing:razz:
