  1. Zero Trading Opportunities

Oil from Crimeans to Russians (Ryazan especially)

Rule of thumb is "opposites" - what is cheap in the North East, is valuable in the South West, etc.
  2. How I got the Trade Permit Quest

Having made 3 long, unprofitable caravan runs I decided to go back to trading manually, figuring that the 4k trading fee was killing me.  Anyway, I ended up in a Crimean town, saw velvet or oil, I forget, for ~40quid a bundle so gave caravans another shot.  I escorted them back to Ryazan and...
  3. SAVE & QUIT - way to change it?

You can export your Character and start a new game with him/her by giving your new character the same name - getting into the game world and then importing.

This is all done through the Character screen, or there abouts
  4. Power draw vs horse archery

its not like im going down my street telling everyone not to use horse archery lol

    Why not!

Personally I never bother with Horse Archery above 6, yes it lets you fire faster but accuracy is really as good as it's going to get with 6 points spent, assuming you have a bow relative to your Power Draw skill
  5. weapons

Since playing BoS Mod - Polearms FTW!

Although the H. Morningstar seems to do asmuch damage I love the range a Polearm offers, and there's a lovely bug (think it's a bug) in .890 where enemies chasing me will take Couched Lance damage randomly, tis funneh
  6. Too much?

Militias are a good idea, coupled with the Armoury building it'd be excellent.

I only take Butter from Villages, then travel to Zendar and put it in the chest as my retirement fund  (or for when it all goes wrong, which it will) I'd like more options with Villages, not just looting and burning.  Would be cool to Loot, but not burn - gives more money but less loot, or not loot and just burn - almost no loot and no monies but village takes twice as long to recover... something like that.

    Anyway, Armoury idea ftw

This version has upgraded the defense values of armor

I'm not so sure armor is truly upgraded.  The formula seems to have changed because although the numbers are much higher, it seems like heavy armor is much less effective than before.  It's like the horse values; if they were using the old system, you'd expect all the horses to be zipping through the battlefield but they actually seem slower and less maneuverable than the previous version.  Horses also seem to suffer a speed penalty for heavier armor, as the heavy charger barely seems able to gallop at all.  In the previous version, black armor would often give me zero damage hits or at least in the single digit range.  Now armor seems to barely makes a difference and is much too random now.  Even wearing black armor, you often take a lot of damage from river pirates.  And heavy chargers often take just as much damage as saddle horses.

I tend to agree here.  It seems that Armour in 870 gives much better defense against glancing hits, if you're riding by and someone tries to pike you, you'll take next to no damage (using reasonable armour) but if you run full pelt into a Awlpike you'll take MASSIVE damage, whereas before it wouldn't do much no matter how you took the hit.  Same with horse armour, is someone tries a "following" slash and you're riding by on a Saddle Horse, it'll do some damage - but in a Charger it'll glance off.

Regarding projectiles - I find them to be about the same, though my horses seems to take more damage
  8. 'Adopting' kidnapped girl into party

Think it's one of the Merchants missions, could be wrong as I've never done it
  9. Gah! Am I the only one having this problem?

If it's the first order given, I have the same problem... but if I zoom off and tell them to hold somewhere it seems to be ok
  10. How does one get a Fife?

You gotta wait to get invited to join a Faction, where they'll offer you a Town to sweeten the deal.  If you've joined a faction already, and it sounds like you have, then you can't get on I'm afraid :\

I did the same, had to export and start over.  When you hit 100renoun the offers start coming
  11. The most effective soldier...

Since 890 and the lack of baggage Horse Archery has taken a back seat for me... Double Sided Lance ftw! And I don't use couched damage, takes all the fun out of it.

Most effective tho... I'd say Crossbowman, the later tiers wield fiersome weapon combows and decent armour... 1 shot to my horse and down I go... *enter the major drawback of the lance system but we wont dwell on that
  12. Which Banner did you choose?

Heh. C because I can get me a matching shield.
Apparently, that's what everyone else thought too.

    Jup!

All my Hero types are now carrying the Shield and wearing the White Coat and Mail... looks cool... only thing that distinguishes me is my Winged Helmet
  13. renown in .890

    ah, cheers chaps.

Thank god for Export Char, heh... restarted now.
  14. renown in .890

Yea, I had 20 renoun in the Quest menu bit and some 200 in the Camp menu.

How do you get towns?  Slightly off topic but I wan't one 'cos I put 2 points in Engineer and hate to see them wasted

ARGH!!!! i use to play this mod in .711 and i didnt have those problems then, but for some reason, even the basic raiders can throw a javalin straight into my heart while im going full gallop, dealing around 54 damage, lol i mean jessus thats crazy!

hehe, have you ever been hit in the heart with a Javlin? Needless to say it'd hurt

I don't think Missile troops have been changed, maybe skill wise, but not damage wise.  Play vanilla M&B and take on some Sea Raiders - they always kick me around.

Love this mod, only mild irritation is having to travel ALL the way back to Brest to sell prisoners
