  1. A Shield Lying on the Water -- Moved to MBX

-The paychecks make things way too easy and unbalanced. After collecting from most of the towns I own or am allied to, I now have 75000 in money, which I can't even spend because I've already got the best of everything.

I agree. Plus, if your cities started saving money just to give to one random foreign general you'd get a bit annoyed. It's a bit unrealistic.

Selvhan and ensuing conversation: uh...

If you somehow got Vaegirs in ASLOW, I don't know what you did or how you did it, but I can only recommend that you reinstall. Unless you mean Sivas or somebody when you say Vaegirs... (Installing Craftmod into your ASLOW directory sounds like the likeliest explanation -- but doesn't Craftmod as well as ASLOW have an installer?)

I noticed that in his original post he said "the vaegir side", so he might just mean the right hand side. Evidently if this is the case he posted without considering that people are going to have different ideas of North/South/East/West for both native and aslow.

@Tuckles - I imagine just saying "Get cash by going round allied cities and accepting tribute from the stewards, then buy experienced troops from the same NPCs" would be sufficient as a starting guide. There's not much to it.

I found another bug. Various invasion parties (some of which were from my cities I believe) were on their way to an enemy city to invade it (they were engaging a band of deserters next to the city when I arrived). However, I got there first and conquered & occupied it. Now there are a bunch of friendly invasion parties trying to take my city.
  5. A Shield Lying on the Water -- Moved to MBX

If you're starting as a low level character you can always go round all the friendly cities, collect the tribute they give you, and make a party full of the best units.

I didn't get it either... I did think I was missing something, as it was mentioned in the introductory text.

However, do normal joining battles work for everyone now?

    Yeah, it works fine.
  8. A Shield Lying on the Water -- Moved to MBX

Hey ex_ottoyuhr, do you think you could make some kind of A4-sized map of the world in ASLOW so it can be printed out for reference? It'd be pretty handy.
  9. HELP please (downloading from the Repository)

I noticed that zonealarm made the repository not work, if that helps.
  10. A Shield Lying on the Water -- Moved to MBX

First of all I'd like to say this mod is great, I've been enjoying it muchly.

One bug I've found so far is that on the hill between Chelm and Talchin (I was going from Chelm to Talchin), on the Talchin side of the slope, there's a point along there that I just cannot get past. When I click on my destination (if beyond this mysterious line) then my party just goes in the opposite direction, presumably to go round.

EDIT: Also when I tried to join in on a siege of an enemy town that a friendly invasion force was trying to take, the game crashed.

just to let you know I am also eagerly awaiting this mod. finally a decent mod for .808!

I've never played the mod, but allow me to troubleshoot:  I get that first error a lot in Native.  I think some enemies are spawning behind the battle map boundary line, so they can't get on the field, and your men can't get to them.

Secondly, join the Vaegirs to attack towns.

    Thanks, very handy.

Also, the armour you start with in this mod looks fantastic! I feel so royal in it.

EDIT: Something to note is that if you import a character and you have >1000000 denars or however much you get when you start the game, then you lose the starting cash and most of the starting army leave you as you cannot pay them (this just happened to me)
  13. Swadian Civil War- Now open-source. See first page or page 19 for download link.

I'm having a lot of fun with this mod, just a couple of things wrong.

Firstly at the end of an entirely epic and awesome battle against a load of crossbowmen (in which I used hills and cavalry charges to my advantage, which was fun), I had killed everyone, but apparently the game thought I hadn't. When I commanded my knights to charge they all just lined up against the border of the map as if the final crossbowman had fallen off the edge of the world.

Also I appear unable to attack any towns or anything whatsoever. Am I missing something, or is it just incomplete?
  14. Defending against a siege, minus the player

I like that idea very much, the one with the messenger unit spawning. Each castle you own could have a unique messenger unit that you could equip with a speedy horse if you were able, enabling you to control how well-protected your castle is even further.

What's so bad about the death sentence?

The point is Britain abolished the death sentence ages ago, and I'd hope most British people are opposed to it, so it seems a bit contradictory to stand by and watch as a death sentence that we are partially responsible for goes ahead.
