Excellent! If you look on the front page under "Images" and scroll down you'll find some images of the Swedish and Russian regiments that are in the mod.
Yeah looks great so far, if you want I can get you a reference picture of ALL the regiments colours, both Russian and Swedish (If I just can remember where I put it and you don't yet got this information)
Thanks! That's quite impressive! I might have you test a version down the road, when we get a more stable and complete version together, so we can get your feedback. CR and I are heavily into this area and we each have our own expertise. She's very expert in weapons and their development plus economy where my interest is more in the history of the leadership both diplomatic and military. I have to say my knowledge is more towards the War of The Spanish Succession side of things and the Great Northern War is something I've only recently gotten my teeth into. I think we did a good job on the research into the uniforms and regiments and we did use some e-books we found on line for the Swedish and Russian armies (as well as some things we got on Poland and Saxony as wells as the Danes). But I'll consider letting you have a look at it later. Right now as CR explains above we have to get the mod back into the shape it was before the patches were released on us.
Thank you, I'd love to have a look at it whenever you'd want me to. I tend to have a deeper understanding in the military organisation of the armies of the time (for obvious reasons my knowledge is at its greatest concerning the Swedish Army) - So weapon ballistics, formations, battlefield tactics (importance of music and colours etc), I also enjoy studying the mind set of the soldiers of the time (What they felt and thought, Studying the Swedish army from this time is very giving in this sense since the Swedish army had such a high rate of literacy in the ranks, more so perhaps than any other army in the world - diaries and letters from the common soldier were common).
Am I glad I discovered this mod, just the era of my liking. Would the team ever need help concerning The Great Northern War I'd be glad to help, I got thousands upon thousands of pages on the subject in my bookshelf. I just finished 1½ year employment in the Swedish Lifeguards Regiment as a cavalryman (A regiment that actually fought in the war). I quit to do what I really love; study history, I'm doing so in the University specialising in early modern warfare. Just PM me if you'd ever need any help.
Would it be possible to implement bayonets for the muskets? Has it been done in earlier mods? Plug bayonets were being implemented in european armies at this stage.
Bayonets weren't widely implemented until 40 years later than the period this game takes place. You wouldn't find a musketeer with a bayonet fitted musket on a battlefield in The Second Northern War. Especially not in Eastern Europe - Sweden and Russia wouldn't do so untill the first decade of the 18th century, a bit later than other European nations, though Sweden used the Pike a quite bit differently - as an offensive weapon - than other European states aswell so, yeah.
HEY! The Protestants follow the holy word of god. Not the corrupted word of men, like the Catholics.. Seriously though I'm not religous or anything but Martin Luther sure had some valid points. And if Protestants weren't gods people, how do you explain how he stood on Swedens side throughout the whole 17th century? Newsflash, The protestants 'won' The Thirty Years war
(And yes, I'm mostly just fooling around... mostly )
-The rapier needs something fixed in my opinion. Its an OK weapon but i hate the fact that it only has stabbing (again). Maybe u guys could add a slight slashing damage or let him stab high and stab low, so you can't just keep the same block direction all the time.
The rapier was a stabbing weapon. The blade is too thin for it to be effective at slashing, though that really didn't matter since stabbing wounds are way more deadly that a slashing wound is. Even horrible slashing wounds which cuts several centimeters into a person can more often be taken without being deadly wounded, a stabbing wound however more often punctures organs, something which will more likely kill you. (Also there are the "Broadsword" in wFaS which more or less are the same weapon as the rapier but with a slightly broader blade which allows slashing)
Well I liked it, way better than native (which in its own is a dissapointment, they could've atleast change the gun sounds when making a gun orianted game) - so thank you.
