If anyone in Bannerlord wants a republic, it should be something along the lines of the Roman noble oligarchy or the Medieval Free Cities' merchant oligarchy. Anything democratic would seem to be a major anachronism, at least to me.

The Roman magistrates were elected by the people. When they were elected they were given membership into the senate and some of them would be given imperium to lead armies; I think it's possible to make but you don't need to follow the Roman Republic model. Perhaps all "lords" would be senators and they stand for election in cities in order to represent them and therefore essentially rule them for a year. This would mean that some senators might just extort their city in order to get the money back for their campaign fund and to make extra money or they might be honest and true and try to help their people with everything from building roads, aqueducts and businesses to helping people who seek personal assistance. The Senate could also convene every so often to talk about issuess and vote on legislation e.g national education program, foreign affair, food supply.
Then there are another set of elections running along side, like a presidential election. This person is sort of like a king for a year and represents the people in the capital. All important things would need to be voted on by the senate (of which he's apart of) but he is essential the figure head for the year and certainly will have a great deal of clout over the political factions in the Senate.

You said in Bannerlord Development Blog Episode VII: Return of the Blog : "Different noble houses have taken sides based on their political outlook, their rivalries, or just rank opportunism."
Does this mean some houses may be for the creation of a Republic? Is it possible for us to rise against the old order and make one?
I think something most a lot of players would be for different types of governments being available to them and other countries as well as adding a dynamic of population happiness and revolution. Republics (and Democracy in general) are something people have wanted for a while now and it would be great for that to be a feature and an option available in Mount and Blade: Bannerlord.

Even reading this and taking it on board is much appreciated let alone an actual reply.
    Thanks
