Both factions historically used a lot of longbowmen.
You mean all factions. Despite it being York v Lancaster there are the other influential factions as well with similar troop trees.

Yes but I was trying to simplify it for him.

  3. Anglo-Saxons and Vikings... Did they understand each other?

I'd say they could probably get the gist of what they were saying across some of the time, but as far as fully understanding eachother, I doubt it.
They probably understood each other about as well as we can read Chaucer untranslated today.
But I can understand most of Chaucer D:

We may be able to read Chaucer (written in later Middle English) but how many of us can read Beowulf untranslated, its Old English (Anglo-Saxon).
  4. Anglo-Saxons and Vikings... Did they understand each other?

Think of it this way. Someone from Russia can get a word here and there in Ukrainian, but they are not the same language and are different though that the communication would not be clean. This is the relationship between Norse and Anglo-Saxon during the medieval period.
  5. Can you point me at some accurate sites/books in regards to 13th century Wales?

Look for a copy of "A Journey Through Wales" by Gerard of Wales. He was a 13th century English monk who traveled through Wales and his book describes it.

There are also numerous books titled "Medieval Wales" which will have a lot of focus on the 13th century as this is the time that Wales was enthralled in a struggle to keep its customs and traditions safe as the English conquered them.
  6. Viking Era Shoes

Contrary to most people's replies here medieval footwear is very comfortable and offers fantastic support. Most of us can agree your feet work best barefoot but sharp things are nasty and hurt your feet. Medieval shoes basically protect you from these things while still letting your feet work the way they are designed (this is of course if they are proper medieval shoes, lots of fantasy designs that don't work at all as shoes).

Your choice of Bohemmond's boots is a good one, he makes quality shoes and has done a lot of research. Though the boots he sells off his site are made in the medieval style for the modern wearer he also makes fabulous 100% accurate replicas.

Thirdly I tend to disagree with those saying that the shoes won't be waterproof. Put some beeswax or another sealant on the leather and your good to go (especially with the Scandinavian medieval footwear). The men (and women) wearing these shoes had to go out in the rain just like you and me, and just like us didn't like wet feet. Thus they designed shoes that would be waterproof (to a certain degree like most modern footwear).

I have worn a pair of medieval ankle boots in a heavy rainstorm and the only wetness on my feet was from a hole I had worn through the leather. I walk through puddles in them and have no problems.
