1 hit killls happen - but hey this is medieval times were polearms (helebards?) and crossbows were the most dangerous weapons for mounted knights!
Some ways to avoid beeing a 1-hit victim:
- Always close in from the side or behind when your fellowship is charging or holding a position against the enemies.
- When charging crossbowmen/archers/axethrowers, always first get out your shield and charge them with your horse, then get out your main melee weapon to kill them
- Stop engaging large groups of pikemen/archers frontally, always wait until they are distracted, sometimes it is enought when one of your fellowship closes or gets into their range
- Have your men positioned smartly, on hills or heightened areas were you have a good view where enemies come from or gather. Let them gather, defend, then charge, with you charging in from the side or when youre men are charging in the second wave.
- Never Auto-Resolve ^^
Although there is no real leader - for each wave of enemies you usually have in the front horsemen or knights approaching you, behind them footmen/archers/riding archers. Leave the assault leaders to your men and distract the back-end troops from their attack, thus they will be split up and not able to close up to the main battle, also order your seargeants to hold a position near where you are fighting to ward off any annoying groups of attackers.
