I'm a player looking for a sizeable regiment. I have played Mount & Blade since its pre-release days years ago and I'm pretty familiar with the controls and game. There was no multiplayer back then, so I played exclusively single-player, and I became a pretty great shot on horseback for one getting 1/3 to 1/2 hits and headshots at great distances. I left off of M&B for several years and now I'm getting back into it. Napoleonic Wars and the huge multiplayer battles caught my attention. I see a gazillion regiments, and I don't know where to begin!!!
I suppose I don't have much preference other than finding an active, well-managed and sizeable regiment - I pretty much want to dive in and have fun. I figure that a regiment of at least twenty players would allow for more opportunity to enter medium- to large-scale matches quickly. As for preferences, I suppose I'd go for a U.K. named regiment or an Austrian or Prussian one, as I speak a bit of German too and can actually understand and pronounce the names (but I certainly want a fluent English-speaking regiment). I suppose I may go for a regular regiment of foot. I tried the cavalry mode, but found the new M&B sword mechanics to be much harder than they used to be. I'm an afficionado of world history, but unfortunately am much less familiar with European history and so I'm unfamiliar with detail such as the names of most individual Napoleonic units or their histories. I'd prefer units with full and interesting histories if possible.
When it comes to FPS, I'd say I'm a decent shot - I mostly played single-player games and shied away from multiplayer as most players have more speed and a little more accuracy on me, but I figure that the slow reload times of muzzle-loading weapons would dull that differential - not to mention the horrible inaccuracy of smoothbore weapons. I'm a mature, considerate player and won't have trouble following instructions. Oh yeah, and I'm more free on Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday afternoons, so I'd prefer a weekend regiment that has training days and battles on the weekend. I have used Teamspeak and Ventrilo before.
EDIT: Wow, two replies already! I live in New York, as it happens, so I'd like to join a North American, preferably East Coast-based band or at least East Coast servers.
