I also am getting the half-second sound delay problem, this happens even in the menu. I'm running Vista 64 bit, AMD quad, recent Nvidia card, onboard sound.

Just bought, so I have a 'play from anywhere' copy. Thought I'd never see it for that price again. I was going to buy it the last time the game was up for 5 bucks and missed it. I have a habit of doing that.

Also of note, until tomorrow: The Witcher: "Enhanced Edition Director's Cut" is going for half off. Highly reputed game, full edition, way cheaper than I got my copy - and I haven't even booted it up yet.

The sensibilities displayed here aren't only good as far as M&B goes, they're spectacular all around.

The only thing I would ask/hope for is that the texture resolutions aren't reduced too much for release. I'm a snob about that sort of thing, if I can help it.

Been using Chrome since it came out, first on a trial period and now by preference. I find it's a lot faster and stabler for my style of browsing than Firefox.

Again? That must've been what happened several hours ago. I crashed out and when I got back in and refreshed the list the server was completely empty. Infact all the US servers were, so I had to play on an aussie. Funny that, no one ever wants to join an unpopulated server, so all the US players seem to have quit for the night simultaneously on account of each other doing the same.

Seeing as this was after longbows were added to the Nords and we had spawned at the crescent-shaped village, we hid amoungst the small enfenced area to the left. I remember that match. We defended those wabbages well.

I had a cool moment on Field by the River some time ago. The activity on the server was dying down until there were just 4 of us. I as a Vaegir archer with an infantry teammate, spawning on the higher ground by the bridge, and 2 khergits on the lower village side. We had walked up to about the fence when I spot a lancer waaay on the other side, riding in a relatively straight diagonal line towards the bridge. No shots had been fired by that point. I figure "easy enough." So I stop, eye a shot and let 'er rip, following the trajectory with my eye. BOOM he rides right into it with his head. First shot 1 kill, and at a distance. A proud moment for me, and not one I've yet been able to repeat (long distance headshot on a cavalryman first thing.) 

I've also had some good times teaming up as an archer with Asheila or Julia, both good shots and team players.

I find longer weapons can be great team support in melee, they're just not really viable in solo combat.

Hegemon, people do throw things from horses, and it works.
The reason all mounted troops tend to use spears and lances is because that's what they're equipped with by default, and using anything else leaves you at a deadly range disadvantage anyway. I can't speak about glaives on foot having not used them yet, but I assume they're mainly for anti-cav.

Buy while still you can - for some of these games this price point just unbelievable.

I was playing on an Australian server today with a ping of 300+ and it seems that a high ping can actually be useful in some situations. While on foot the game runs relatively smoothly and I was able to use the delay to get the jump on enemies in melee, and confuse and kill groups in ways I assure you one wouldn't get away with on a low ping. It's once you get on a horse that everything goes completely to hell. About the only thing you can do is randomly poke around in the air or couch and hope for the best.

I occasionally have the tab scoreboard stick, or more annoyingly my bow not releasing an arrow when I click. No idea if these are caused by the same thing.

Valhalla!   This sounds like the sort of thing many players have been asking for and might prefer over the actual ongoing battle - which would result in players killing themselves and each other so they can go duel. This may be better off as its own gametype.

What's the goal here - scenery? Good weather? Then you definately don't want to come here in the winter. The northern lakes in the summer on the other hand, can be quite nice.

In any case, you can see much the same thing a lot closer to the west coast, with the added bonus of being closer to civilization. If I was living there I would balk at the suggestion of going to the prairies too.
