There was a thread on this last week.. seems its pretty common.. some just kept trying till they werent, otheres restarted game and it worked fine.. while others said it was due to having negative relations wth that lord/companion. 

I had it happen to me once.. once I restarted game hasent happened again... mine went a bit more then that.. the whole city went hostile on each other.. the Castguard killed everyone in the city (Armor merchant/guild master ect..) before i even went into the dungeon.. came out and he would help me kill but i was trying to rescue 6 companions and they would all attack me,.. so.. happens.. try restarting game.. let them rot.. or just keep trying..

!!This just happened to me today also...  

I started my own kiingdom and have been capitalising on swadian realestate due to their 4 way war, anywho after the war was over I had 4 companions still in SUNO prison..I go into town and attack the guard to gain entry but no sooner do i do this then the Castleguard goes on a murder frenzy.. I start seeing killspam "CastleGuard kills Villager" I was like wtf... so after i dispatched the dungeon/prison guard I went to go see what was going on.. the castle guard had managed to kill every NPC in the town.. then came after me.. after I killed him i went on with my mission to free my companions and get out of this place and after I leave the dungeon with companions n tow they all turn on me!! nex tthing I know i have 4 geared leveled companions hacking me to death.. THE END.  I try it again.. same story.. except the Castle guard killed the prison guard for me.. and when i got my companions out they let me think they were on my side until i walked around a corner and they all stabbed me in the back...

*shrug* dunno what to do now lol...

I wish mine had been that easy... After not only having to duel her previous love intrest and sing a few poems..over a month or two we then "eloped" and in doing so pissed off her family and the king   IT is good to be the Bastard InLaw   her previous courter has now become my enemy and we duel often. 

  I just had the first truly epic seige today unfortunately I lost

I was playing as Swadia and we have gone to war with everyone at one point and time and have been expanding nicely we had just taken Sarez(?) a week ago and I was in the area mopping up random Lords beng a general pain n the arse to everyone and happened to stop by Sarez to restock/ransom off some captives and had about 6 or 7 lords held captive also with a respectable 115+/- man army to include 6 companions geared up, 20+ Dukes, 10+ Nobles, 10Knights and plenty of Longbowmen, Pikemen a leveled & trained army.  The garrison only had about 75-100 or so.. but then it happened.. they wanted their city back... 800+ against our less then 200... we were doing well on the 3rd iteration the numbers were down to 200-/+ vs 50 and not looking to bad..and was beginning to think the impossible would happen when I happened to pop my head over the battlements and got headshotted by a arrow that insta killed me..and by all things i do believe it was from a forest bandit..  needless to say.. that was the end of it.. my men wittled them down to about 65 before succombing to the horde... MY good friend MArshal Hottherington(sp?) showed up a day later and rescued me but would be to little to late for my comrads..

Ive never been able to get any money from him.. has anyone? It made me wonder if he only wants a certain type of person?

As the above post ive ransomed them back before and after that they just kinda randomly found me while i was traveling.. i ransomed 4 back  once and they were no where to be found but about 1 every couple of days would all of a sudden pop up and offer to join me again while i was randomly traveling around map.... id suggest keeping 1 slot open for this reason always.
