Unless you have some kind of deal with Armagan, I'm not sure precisely where you got terms of purchase stating you'd get any update to M&B for free, even assuming Warband was classified as such. In fact the only sales terms would be those of Esellerate, Steam or wherever you bought it from. The FAQ for M&B while in development did state you would receive free updates up to the final version. Ignoring whether something written in the FAQ could even be construed as a sales term, under the wording they used they could have charged for each version after 1.00
Oh of course it could be construed as a sales term, otherwise it would be false advertising. And no, whether or not a version is final is not determined by its number, but whether it's updated. Once it's updated, it's clear that it isn't final. And since I anticipate your answer to this, no, slapping "warband" under the logo does not make it into a completely new, unrelated product. WB is an update of M&B, as evidenced by the fact that the majority of the content being identical, as well as by the version number, which simply continues where M&B left off.
I think your definition of "content" is quite narrow
No more than yours.
You do realize that doesn't even make sense, right? What's your point?
I happen to know that SC:FA does not include the campaigns and storyline from the original
So it excludes a bunch of maps and in fact doesn't add anything you couldn't have done yourself with the map editor? Hmmm, this sounds familiar somehow ...
Yes, because it's an
expansion. Unlike Warband, which is at best an enhanced re-release of M&B.
As I said in another thread, I think M&B is a game that is profoundly unsuited to expansion packs. Either you upgrade the mechanics, and then it's an update you promised to give people for free, or you make some new raw content like new items or a new map, and then you're making what amounts to a mod. MP is really the only thing that justifies WBs existence, as the devs had stated repeatedly in the past that M&B would never have it. But of course MP alone would not be enough to charge people so much money for, so they had to lump it in with the update and make it an all-or-nothing package deal. No disrespect for Armagan et al, but I personally could not do that with a straight face.
