Nope it is not needed to join a clan to participate (unless there is some change I'm unaware of) but the organisers will put you in a group of other nonclan players.
Also if you haven't allready done so you should download Teamspeak as it is required to join the event.

Better húscarl armour wont help much in this case since this usually happen when there is to few players for the húscarl to be available.
If you mean better armour for the fyrd as well then that might help but that would make the tunics only cosmetic and I'm not sure i like that.

But better húscarl armour is a good way to counter the advantage the chevalier and boyar son have with the horse, and we all know what kind damage a decent horseman can do.

But in all I would like to see the armour value on all armours lowered to erase the silliness of 6-7 (not counting wiffs) hits that's sometimes needed to take down a tincan, if this is done i wouldn't see much problem in increased accessibility of armour.
Armour should help you survive not make you a walking tank.

But how sweet that pic may be i think its best if you remove it before a mod or kid (or its parent) sees it.

Ive read that the vikings did open their ancestors graves in search for heirlooms, if that was common pratice i don't know nor when or if they only did it when baptizing their dead fathers.
Ofc it was a book about religion so i cant say how reliable it is about that.

The Berserker is a bit weak, the rage do not increase dmg that much and it is short. It certainly does not excuse the lack of shields. The Zerk should be able to compete with horsemen in killing capabilities, right now hes not much more than a normal infantryman without a shield.

Increase the dmg of his rage, free shield shattering with 1 hit of a 2handed axe and crush through block or make the dmg increase permanent.

Wouldn't mind if Blizzard fell over and died but I hope Diablo 3 will become good.

The normans and rus get cav at 5 players in their team, and kept it when it went below because as far as i know you don't get kicked out of a class.

Having a unit that is both good infantry and a great backstabbing horseman is a bit much imo, the horses should be kept in a special class.
And small games like 5v5 5v4 is a bit to small for horses, especially if the team with a horse outnumbers the one without
Remove the horse for leader class but make the player need for the horseman class lower.
