  1. SP Antiquity Dawn of Man - The Neolithic Mod, party like its 9999 BC!

    Zarthas 说:
    Salutations sirs,

Well, I've been gone for a while.  I joined the damn Army, so like my compatriot said, I'm a little indisposed.  However, I'm in AIT and I'll be moving off-post in a few weeks, so I'll have some time for hobbies again

Yes, the mod is being ported to Warband.  I started porting it before I left is why I didn't get a release done at all.  BUT I will be releasing an OSP with my models and whatnot, and IVI-o-r-t was going to, or did he?

Good to hear from you

I havent released the OSP yet (I started one but I dont know if I'll release it). If you want you can release my stuff for this mod in your pack, then at least its out there for people to play with...

Zarthas is working at the moment and it's a pretty big commitment so it's unlikely he'll return anytime soon.

You guys (and girls) might have to occupy yourselves with something else in the meanwhile.

That said, I am considering putting together another open source pack, if your really desperate I can include a few of the models or textures I did for this mod?

Are you planning to make any more?

    I'll see how things go...

These look great, although I can't find the download link? Only the East Asian faces you linked at the start of the topic.

Oooh, I understand now - you haven't released the dark skinned faces yet. I look forward to when you do - I think us at Litus could certainly use them.

You can use the images I have here, I displayed them this way so you can see what they look like.
Simply download them like you would an image then use the following program to convent them into dds...

    http://eliteforce2.filefront.com/file/DDS_Converter;29412

To replace the face textures just put them in the mods textures folder, named the same as those you wish to replace.

    How that helps.

A good Idea is making a steampunk mod not just a source pack . . . just an idea and anyone know of a steampunk movie ?

There have been steampunk mods before but they never seem to make it to completion.

Filmwise I recommend "Metropolis", not only is it a great film and historic moment in cinema but it's influenced alot of other films and games of the genre since (including Bioshock).

Hello ! , great mod  ! . Will this be for Warband ?

    Regards

I think it's standard mount and blade for the alpha. Possibly Warband at some point in the future.

Huge bump, but I'm certain I want to reply. This is the sort of thing that may very well be useful for other modders and it's a damn shame that it only has two replies.
    Same goes for This thread.

Thanks, I was trying to find this thread the other day. Couldnt seem to get it on the search tool.

I did actually do some tattooed body meshes... cant remember what happened to them... I may have included them in my OSP steampunk/costumes pack?

Thanks for the response, both of you. I forgot about the limitations, I'm sorry.

Have you tryed looking for a rigger? Lots of mods have stuff rigged for them, maybe you could ask to 'borrow' the person that did their rigging?

In one of the images the wolf headgear looked like it had blue eyes, and I didn't notice any teeth. Anyway, I didn't mean to offend you, but it seem I did just that. Once again I'm sorry.

We've all got commitments outside of this forum that are more important. Modding isnt paid work, sometimes there's next to no reward and there can be occassions where demands can be a further kick in the groin.

That's not to say that we dont appreciate critique. I've taken your comments on board and we'll see if we can make a compromise between what people would like, what we can manage, and what the system will allow.

Thanks to Hermodr for the interest and offer to help, cant wait to see what you'll be contributing to the project.

Thanks for the feedback Just-ME. I've made some changes to the mammoth model and I'll send it to Zarthas at some point this week so it can hopefully make the alpha.

If anyone's a whizz at sorting out rigging we're having some issues with a cave lion (which is also likely to be historically inaccurate).

I'm gonna get back to my life now.

IYI-o-r-t seems to have selected one of the later subspecies for his model, which were significantly smaller with smaller tusks.  It makes sense, since the mod is aimed at the late periods of the stone-age.

I did work from an image (of a later subspecies), and attempted some accuracy but to be honest I was more focused on keeping poly counts down, how much detail would carry over from the texture etc... plus I was pretty rushed for time too. I might give it another go when I have more of a break (be good to have a range perhaps).

Were there any other animals you wanted Zarthas?

    Looking good Zarthas!

I've a few days free before uni starts up again if you need any small stuff doing.

Hey, just tought you'd like to know, there has been another attempt at a true horror mod in the past, i myself was one of its few fans.

Death and Disease became Calradia - Dark Alleys... (which I've also had to put aside): http://www.moddb.com/mods/calradia-dark-alleys

It has/had cannibals, thugs, crooks, cultists, zombies, ghosts, clowns, mimes, surgeons, demons... to name but a few...

Might be worth downloading and having a root through the brf files. Let me know if theres anything you wanna use (I'll need a PM to sort out whose to credit for certain pieces, I had some model submitions so its only fair they get a mention).

I did a "dark" faction in my Red Planet mod too (The Dark Mech, or something like that). Let me know if you wanna use anything from those too.

With texturing, I find it creates a more "dark" atmosphere if you tone stuff down and give it some grit and a more battered appearance.

Okay, I finished the mammoth though I havent done anything new with the rigging so it might take awhile to impliment them.

On the torch thing; I know there's problems with the ingame one but what you could do is have the fire segment like a bush model (a criss-cross of faces), the image'll be static but you can create an illusion of moment through camera/viewed angles.

I've got one issue.  Recruiting without using money.  If you don't need cash to recruit, it might be too easy, but then again I could just make less recruits available.  Hm.

You could still keep a currency - polished pebbles, or clams, like in The Flintstones  , or something similar...As long as it's a scarce. I mean, decrease the earnings to minimal and the less "money" you get, the less rectuits you'd be able to enlist.

Or, I'm not sure if it's doable though, you could link the recruiting to, say renown. I'm not sure if renown could be decreased though. I was thinking something along the line of Saxondragon's PoP honor-related-troops system, where you could recruit higher tier troops after building a knighthood order in a castle/town and each one costs you honor.

Arent the costs of feeding troops going up though? So although they wont intially cost anything, over time they'll rack up some considerable debt.

I've just messaged Zarthas the pack of stuff I did for the mod as I'm gonna have to sign off from the mod team for the moment but I'll be lurking in the background should I be required.

Hopefully, an alpha shouldnt be too far away.
