That's the real beauty of being from
Alaska or Texas. When you go overseas, it is natural when someone asks where you're from to say "Alaska/Texas" without even thinking about it.

I've done this quite a few times without even thinking about it, but generally get much nicer responses than if I had said "USA".
In all seriousness, I'd love to go to Italy, sail to Greece, then (via the Bosphorous) arrive in Turkey, sail to Lebanon (skipping Syria since Americans are not welcome there, even if they are from Alaska), explore Israel, then end the tour in Egypt. That would be quite a vacation.
