  5. How can castles be made important in your opinion?

    While the addition of the castellan building and the change to trade bound settlements have helped castles a good deal, there's still little purpose in owning one over a town. In my opinion, to make castles actually worth it to own, both castles and fief ownership in general needs several changes:

    First, and most importantly, you shouldn't even be considered as a candidate for owning a town unless you have a lot of renown and influence within the faction. Being able the own a town on the first day we pledge allegiance to a faction as a tier 2 clan is immersion breaking (unless we had a significant amount of relations & influence beforehand) and it badly affects the progression of the game. Owning towns should of course be better than owning castles, but the fact towns are given out to any rando like candy makes it pointless to own a castle.

    Secondly, castles are mostly defensive fortifications rather than a proper settlement. It's theoretical purpose is to provide security to the nearby domains of it's holder. Castles shouldn't even have loyalty and security since they can't even rebel (and therefore no fairgrounds and no loyalty boosting daily). But more importantly, castles should have unique buildings that provide bonuses to its villages. A village with a castle a building should make villages harder to raid (by having more militia and/or it taking longer to raid), another building should increase hearths or village production, and another should for example increase the size of the villager party, etc..

    What do you think? What would you suggest to make castles better than

    Assign boundaries to them, land boundries. Like Crusader Kings. Allow more customization such as focusing on farming, hunting, training to support the larger towns. Not at war? Focus on growing, building. Then be able to set it to military focus to start pumping out troops for your wars.
  6. Who commands sieges?

    It seems that in beta 1.1 whenever allied army arrive at siege they take over command from me and will then sit and do nothing for ages, I am guessing they are still waiting for for me to order attack but I cant. I am still able to build siege equipment though.
    They will not attack even with massive advantage - my clan army of 190 plus AI allies with over 500 vs castle with 90 mixed garrison and militia, no attack even after my machines destroyed all defender catapults and both wall sections.

    BDW. garrison and militia grow while besieged is it intentional?
    Since you aren't running the siege anyway, back out of the siege and re-join it. Should let you immediately join the attack sequence.

    Happened to me for the first time today. Ran my army out of money waiting for the lord who joined to start the attack. I dont know what allowed him to take over my siege whether it's influence, renown, kingdom relation... But I backed out and when I rejoined to "help" it immediately launched the menu to Attack, Send Troops, etc...
  7. The new method of discovering weapon parts in smithing doesn't work well

    Well, I decided to start a new game and not do any smithing. I just find it too tedious and not fun.
    I've tried that. How easy it is to make money is what always draws me back in. Especially once you hit that point of filling the 85k orders....

  10. Need More Info Modules Mismatch

    I'm just checking this is the same as me It starts saying module mismatch then click yes to loading with the diffrent modules and It says error failed to load save game?
    At the time I filed this report, there was no option to load the save. It just informed me there was a module mismatch and there was an option to close the dialog box. That's all. Right now at 5pm Mountain Time I am currently downloading a new update (another 28GB). Hopefully this is the fix.

    Weird thing is, this game had 2 updates today, both 28GB. First one had no issues, I was able to play normally. Now the 2nd one wont let me load my most recent save, which is upsetting. I had put so much time into it. Maybe after the next update it will be playable again.

    Does it display a version warning? If it displays a version warning just load modules, it worked for me.
    Mine displays the version warning, but it doesn't give me the option to load anyway. It just has an option to cancel. So I am unable to load any of my previous saves.
