True. And probably a lot more options as well.
Is there a way to modify some of the weapon mechanics using the mod system? For example:
For polearms I find that one of the main problems is that once a troop gets up in your face you are pretty much up **** river. This isn't a problem with a sword because I've often been able to take on 4-5 guys at a time with any other weapon, but given a polearm and 1v1 becomes tricky.
What I wanted to do is make polearms give a knock back equal to their reach. Either that or get rid of the ridiculous penalty you take for using polearms right next to the guy. If I could implement a knock back it'd make polearms more feasible. I was wondering if this is moddable.
Currently to make up for polearm suckiness I've been pretty much making their speeds a lot higher, especially for the two-handed pikes (Ashwood and Awlpike) because they suck for their cost, and greatly increasing their damage. The point of this is too make it so that a polearm on foot can deal out one hit kills even with low proficiencies. If you are only going to get 1 shot to kill them before they close in on you then it should be a one shot kill. They way it was before you'd need 2-3 shots which is just impractical when you consider the fact that most infantry will be on top of you after 1 hit (which to be honest they almost always block).
Polearms, in my opinion at least, are what make Rhodoks suck so much. Even with the stat and skill boosts I gave them (even though every troop got a stat boost, Rhodoks certainly got the bigger boost) they suck in comparison due to their weapon choice. You really can't get their agility and athletics high enough to make it possible to use the polearms.
The way it stands now polearms are only usable from Horseback, which Rhodoks lack. Yet somehow Rhodoks use polearms still. I really like the idea of giving polearms a knock back, or at least a knock down effect. This way you have a chance to give them a killing blow. The knock down/back effect could be blocked like regular attacks but it would simply discourage people from simply running up to a pikeman and initiating the 0 damage polearm attack.
Once the module system comes out I definitely plan on making a more in-depth mod for the troops, lords, mercs, and all the other units that you find, including stats, skill, and troop name and equipment changes to fit the factions historical background. Of course this will depend on what kind of changes are made in the next release of M&B.
