You need to appoint a companion minister and one of the options in the list is to make yourself lord of the town, or something similar.

They don't show up. It's happened in my game too. This should be fixed ASAP, I really don't want to avoid trying out what could be the most fun addition to the new Warband experience.

As the new ruler of the Empire I can safely say holding your own lands with Sarleons breathing down your throat at Seven Cross is difficult, let alone launching a co-ordinated offensive against your enemies.

If you want to expand against the Sarleons without a month-long (or more) siege of Laria that means you need to take Seven Cross Keep, which is almost like a chokehold between that bridge, the pass to Sarleon, and the Laria township. It's also the place where all the enemy lords seem to regenerate at. Seven Cross Keep really lives up to its name, it's the real gateway to the Sarleon/Empire lands and an extremely important tactical location.

Unlike the Imperials who just sort of sit around and guard their homeland with those militia patrols, the Sarleons are really offensive and like to grab for any low-defenses castle they can get. King Ulric is notoriously bad for sneaking in the backwater places and taking Walven or Maras castle when I'm not looking. At least in my game.

Judging by their personality the Imperials are supposed to be like this. They keep the peace and enforce the Emperor's law, keeping the troops close to home as a display of power, and using them to improve the infrastructure of the nation.

If someone else hasn't been reassigned to Dobrynya's dialogue, I'll be free this weekend to get that done.

Oooh, I hate apostrophes being in the wrong place. Bugs the heck out of me.

But there's a difference between just poor spelling and colloquialisms.

I just ctrl-F4'd the whole thing, so problem solved I guess.

And the whole point of besieging an enemy and waiting them out is so that you don't have casualties. We were at a stalemate, they would have been owned if they sallied, I would've been owned if I went in to get them. So I tried to force them into submission, and it didn't do anything.

Still, main point is: it should be either fixed or removed if it doesn't work. I haven't tried it in vanilla, so I don't know.

I wouldn't have besieged them for a month if I could have taken them head-on. They're like thrice my size. And practically all missile equipped Empire troops. I had the right troops to fight them on the field, but not in a siege battle. So I waited.

My point is, it's an option, shouldn't it work? I mean, if it doesn't, it should just be gone completely. I wasted like three hours of my life doing absolutely nothing, practically ruined my bank, and I've got nothing to show for it.

Thing with that is, Ragnar, it usually freezes up or runs extremely slow if your map is over 1000x1000 units.

Thogrim's map editor isn't that great a program, truth be told. I'm sure if someone opened up the code for the import feature the problem could be solved and the map editor reuploaded.

As I just posted elsewhere, same problem. It may be that the map editor is busted and can't read heightmaps, or that there's some sort of extension on the end that Thorgrim forgot to mention.

Except for the fact that my terrain type map works fine. That's odd...

We're also both running Windows 7. I guess a reinstall would be a good idea, but I'd like to know if anyone's actually gotten this to work before.

My coloured one works fine, so I figured the problem was when I tried loading the b&w one, but I tried importing that one first and nothing happened. Then, I try the other one and boom, it closes.

If I don't find the solution, I'll do the topo by hand but... it'd help if I could get them to work.

(Question's out to anybody out there who gets an idea)
