Never mind, appearently I simply need to return to the original quest giver, not actually track them down.

Best way is just to wait a couple of months, you will get the message it expires and you can choose to end the service. In the meantime you can attack or demand tribute from enemy caravans, attack enemy lords etc with impunity, after the time is up your relation to the factions you attacked are set to 0 again.

I tried sieging again, this time even getting the circumvallation up. While so, there were a lot of attacks, and my attempts at espionage and sabotage failed. The worst part came with winter though - I went from 450 men to about 150 in a matter of days - wow. I know winter etc can take its toll of numbers, but in such short time? Basically it was like my army was attacked by napoleons march is something.

Then I noticed suddenly there came patrols out of town attacking me - how can they make new patrols (numbering 150-175 men) while I siege them? I still managed to win but it depleted my men more of course. Then the lords did the same, and I defeated them too. In the end the food for the defenders ran out and they sallied, about 350 men (completely unaffected by hunger, disease or cold it seems), and my army was defeated by taking only 50ish casualties despite the fact I had at least 100 men left (they took about 60 casualties in the same attack. So basically gg and I'm captured.

The fastest way to get heavy troops IMO is to attack young warriors etc and rescue danes, who are cheap and heavy.

Getting 1000 men is impossible for me now - I have one one vassal so far, who I recruited from the Gewissae. He has about 100 troops. I can field about 450 myself, but that's it.

Sieging a lot of castles is not going to help my economy much, I'm going to need cities.

Getting 10 engineering will take forever, thats the late game I don't want to level up to level 50 before I even start conquering.

500 heavies costs a lot more than I can afford, if you mean the ridwiga engles etc. , it will also take ages just to train them. Unless I just cheat it up I can't see how I can do that yet.

What if I siege them and lure them out, is it possible to kill them in the field then and then siege whatever manage to escape?

Thanks for replies. Seems like I messed up religion stuff in my game, unfortunately the mod is not very forgiving of these mistakes, so I have to deal with every village and town in the game hating me except for pagan ones (and no, doing stuff FOR christianity does not increase village/town relations. )

However now it happened again, and this time there was no such event. Gwent is suddenly at war with me and the bastards plundered my village for no reason.

I have managed to make peace with most of the kingdoms by using the teleport cheat (I hate doing it, but the map is just too huge), but still at war with 3 irish ones and Gwent.

Aspirine that didn't work for me, only before I had a kingdom. I asked the king of Gwent for peace, and he sees no reason to.

BTW my right to rule is now 104, which I thought was way sufficient, but guess not.

Now I'm trying to attack the irish Mumain, I have sieged and taken a castle. It seems the easiest way to do so is to prepare ladders and then try to bully a small garrison. I also tried sieging his capitol after smacking most of the field armies, but he probably have too many men (about 350+ small lords), while I have about 450 men. The problem when I try to build crenelations is that they constantly attack and burn them, making me have to start over (120 hours is just too long time).

What is the fastest and less painful way to take a city? Do you need a marshall and 1000-2000 men or is it possible to take one just like it was in vanilla? The army sizes are just sooo huge in this mod.

Sigh, yes. Any mods that fixes this behavior? While looting should be an integral part of medieval warfare, the frequency is simply too high - and good hearted nobles with +40 relations still come to my village just because it's there. I can understand vindictive looting (you looted mine now I loot yours), and some simply being assholes, but right now everyone does it. Quite often I can a swath of looted villages along the terrtiry of nations like Swadia, while the nobles are busy feasting or sieging some unimportant castle, or looting themselves.

Another possible fix would be that a looted village still generated some income, just heavily reduced. Those villagers gotta have to hide SOMETHING right? They always do when my tax collectors come

Maybe it can be coded that instead of looting, lords would normally just steal resources instead?  And simply lower prosperity by one level instead of setting it to lowest. The option is there for the player at least.

Why do a lot of people keep referring to them as Sassanids? It's Sarranids according to the game, unless I'm missing some sort of in-joke.

Probably because Sassanids were a historical persian people, using similar troops.

Welcome to the hell of useless villages being constantly raided. Might as well go for a city and ask for it as a fief. You need decent reputation for that though, and be the one to start the siege or taking it by yourself.

Cavalry. Not Calvary (where Jesus where). At least you are consistent in your spelling error.

That aside, you simply can't expect to win if the enemy has waves of knights, in open flat terrain and you have low-tier infantry. Some battles should be avoided altogether.

1. Don't piss off nobles before you have some high-tier units. And/or pathfinding skill.

2. Be vary of staying in kergit or sassanid lands on low levels, the mounted bandits can make mincemeat out if your recuit army.

3. If you still get in this situation, try to disrtract the enemy yourself on horse, so that your infantry can stand and pepper the enemy with arrows while they chase you (need a fast horse for that). Or shoot them down as an archer, remember horses can be shot down even if the cavalry has shields.

Just the other day I hunted down a small group of desert bandits for them and got payed about 2000 denars. As many other people have suggested, looting villages is also extremely cost-effective. Some guild quest has nice rewards, but the hunting down bandits can quickly turn to frustration if you don't have either good tracking skill and/or luck. Escorting caravans only pay a few hundred, same with the looter hunting. Delivering beverages to taverns is a bit more lucrative, if you got the inventory space. Peace negotiation is tough, but brings in good reward. I mainly do the guild quests in towns I own myself, to bring up loyalty.

Tournaments is still the most cost effective, both in investment of time and money. You need a few hundred, and with the right skills you can win any tournament anywhere. Archery skills and /or some thrown and crossbow skills is recommended. I laugh when I see a duel between myself and a single knight with lance and shield.. before I shoot his horse down and pulverize him. Easiest tournaments is still IMO in Praven, once you learn how to joust. The important part is never to ride straight at an enemy who has his lance lowered.

Hmm, ok I will test in Sharif, the Sassanid city.

How can I make peace with the Rhodoks? I thought I had pretty good relations with their King (positive at least). i reallyt don't want to defeat their huge armies, as I'd have to do it in the field and not take advantage of castle walls (their crossbows and infantry would have the advantage).

As an option, let them conquer Jaimiche and it's castle, and then hope to get peace after that. Now I realize it was a mistake to conquer that castle in the first place, as it has Rhodok culture.

I'd like to see other starting a new game with the latest patch test how profitable enterprises are now. In my game I have noticed almost all enterprises actually give negative profit, and many of the super cash cities suddenly have much less profit.

I've bought a few Breweries to get the ball rolling, a couple of ironworks, and other than that only dyeworks bring in significant profit.

So far the most income I get compared to cost is tournaments and then fiefs, and in the latter only cities are really worth it, castles are too dependent on their village.
