  1. same faction morale bonus

At least, I think I understand what you're saying. You have a warband full of Swadians, and when you go to your morale report page, there are a couple lines saying stuff like "Morale for Khergit troops: -5" "Morale for Nord troops: -10," is that right?

That's exactly what's happening.  I'm at work and haven't done the math, so once I get on the game I'll see if it's just a preventive warning or if it's being calculated (hopefully not).  I didn't bother to check if the numbers fit the total, I just went "Whaa-aaat? why!?"

Curiously enough, I'm not fighting against rhodoks and I'd get a positive boost if I had some of them in my warband.  It must be because I've helped them out on a couple of skirmishes (they're also at war against the khergits) so I figure there must be a "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" sort of formula applied.

Will look into it and thanks!
  2. same faction morale bonus

I'm a mercenary working for king Harlaus from Swadia.  I've been fighting bandits, sea raiders and whatever faction Swadia is at war with, giving support to the swadian marshall and just plain being opportunistic.

I visited the Sarranids recently and traded stuff from them.  I fought bandits there and don't remember if I caught any prisoners from when I was there but i do have a negative morale bonus from having sarranid troops, when not really having any on my warband, so that's why I'm thinking carrying prisoners around from factions you're at war with affects morale.  Just want to know if it goes away at some point or if I'm totally in the wrong or if it's a bug.

I also have khergit morale reduction from having kerghit troops (about -2), but I don't have any of those on the warband, except for prisoners I've already sold.

I'm using the steam version of the game.
  3. same faction morale bonus

I just got into Warband recently after ages of not playing vainilla mount and blade, so I'm familiar with the old game and just getting used to some of the things from the expansion. One of the things I've noticed is that having troops from the same faction gives me a morale boost.  I chose...
  4. Most annoying quest??

Ha ha ha! You had it easy. I'm with Ragnar at the moment, not even patrolling, just standing in the middle of nowhere for 2 days so far. I think he's got his troops collecting rare butterfly species or something.

That's got to be mighty hard since his troops are carrying heavy axes instead of butterfly catching nets.
  5. Most annoying quest??

Herding cows is supposed to improve your town's prosperity and get them to like you more so you can take more people to war with you and collect more taxes from a richer town.  But I ask, what's the point of collecting, say 300 denars a week if you spent 1500+ on a cow?  And they ask you for seven or eight?  When do you actually profit from it?  No sir!  I'd rather buy the cows for under a 100 bucks and scour the fricking map than end the quest quickly.  Yes, I'm cheap like that.

I love entering a town and finding out they got raided by bandits.  They love me so much afterwards, secially if I don't charge for my services.
  6. Do you turn off the M&B music?

No.  I like all the brass and it doesn't get in the way during battles.  It's never bothered me.

Then again, I've never been too musically inclined.
  7. Faction Eliminated

Nah, they have a mind of their own.  If they like you or if they like your faction, they'll join it, but others will end up joining other factions.

When I defetaed the Kerghit khanate, some of the lords who I beat repeatedly and who hate my guts joined my faction.  What sucks is they come into the faction with no lands of their own.  Then when you go and besiege a castle, the king decides whom to give it to and since you already have a fief the guy with nothing has a pretty good chance of getting it.  So, technically, you're fetching castles to your previous enemies, who still hate your guts even after you've got them A CASTLE and won't let you into the castle even if you're in a hurry, until you become his errand boy and turn his negative relationship into a positive one.

I don't know if there are any tweaks to change their behavior.
  8. Thanks TaleWorlds

I would still enjoy the game without any of you slobs!

I haven't even modded my game yet.  Saving that for the day I finish playing on Native.  Still have two factions to go.
  9. Faction Eliminated

That's because you have some swadian enemy lord running around the map going "LALALAAAA! 7falcon can't find meee!".  Until every lord has been defeated and unable to respawn on a castle or city (because your faction owns them all) the faction is still alive.

If the remaining enemy lords running around the map fight someone and lose until not a single one of them is left, you'll get the "Swadian kingdom has been defeated!" screen without doing nothing yourself, but that can take a long while.  You're better off hunting them down.
  10. Most annoying quest??

Cattle.  Not just the bringing the cows, since I've found what I've learnt from that useful (I use it to split lords apart from bigger parties and push them into territories more to my advantage) but the finding the bloody animals from everywhere on the map till you have enough of them and at a decent price.  I don't pay 2000 for a cow and I don't steal them either, so I end up looking all over the place until I find me some cheap ones.

Errands are annoying but  not as much.  I usually do them while on the way, instead of going out of my way to complete them.
  11. Laying siege upon a castle/town?

Just keep in mind that then the WHOLE FACTION will be at war with little you.  Once you take their castle, they will want it back and they'll already know where you live.
  12. Hello, a bit of help please, when I can remember what I needed to ask :s

For making loads of money, besides selling prisoners and loot, you can always go into commerce and trade stuff buying it cheap on one village and selling it at a higher price on a city.  They make the prices up for you though, so it's a matter of finding out what's selling cheap where and where they're buying it at a decent price.  it's a good, safe way for newbies to earn some cash.  Then once you start fighting lord's parties and joining in the wars, ransoms for captured lords are very profitable, but it takes a while for the faction of the captured lord to make an offer and your prisoner could escape in the meantime.
  13. What Saving Option do you use?

Unrealistic, because starting from scratch for whatever dumb reason seems more like work than play.  I can always decide to save after losing a battle and live with my choices, though most of the times it's because I did something stupid and I don't feel like learning my lesson through rebuilding an entire army.
  14. Village Prosperity

Some companions don't like some things and if they get pissed enough with you, they'll leave, so I don't raid villages to keep Jeremus happy and I don't remember who else who doesn't like it either (Marnid, I think).

I thought they'd react the same way about stealing from caravans, but nope.  They turn a blind eye to that.  Hypocrites.
  15. What is the point of having friends

Oh well, it was worth a shot.

Companions aren't absolutely necessary but they're very powerful.  Things I like having companions for:

    - They're unkillable.
    - They're editable, from armor to attributes to skill points and proficiencies.
    - Pick a team that works well and don't hate each other and you'll never hear them ***** and moan or leaving your party.
    - They carry all the party skills while I focus on the leader and personal ones.

Things I don't like having companions around for.

    - The menus.  Navigating around the stuff they have and their skills is a hassle.
