Gk hurting the community with their rules and standards. To begin with they have all of their servers on Medieum Combat Speed so thats what all the players that play on their servers are used too. It's easy for a guy who plays on Fastest Combat Speed servers all the time to go on GK and get to the top of the leaderboards and annihilate a bunch of people on Medium Combat Speed servers. Although a player who plays on ANY GK server all the time can easily be on the top of the leaderboards kill everyone on their servers, but the moment they go to Fastest Combat Speed server they are at the bottom of the leaderboards and get annihilated.
Being in GK for over 3.5 years and leading it for over 2 years, I'll add my insight to this debate.
Medium speed doesn't hinder anyone from learning the game. I played siege 98% of the game on siege and still became one of the top players. Changing the game speed is something that has been debated to death within GK. Simply put the majority of the clan is fine with the speed it is and the server seems to being populated with the settings it has had since the beginning. The major reasoning is that Fastest breaks the combat, swings become glitchy and in my personal opinion warband should be played on medium.
Also the second issue of things is how GK doesn't allow recruiting on their servers. Now I have asked why they don't allow recruiting, and they have told me " cause you don't go on someone else's server and recruit." Now as much as that is true they are themselves hypercritical, other people alone with myself have seen GKs go on USA_Central_POM and try to recruit people. So tell us GK why will you prevent recruiting on your servers, when you know the NA competitve scene is fading away and you run the most populated servers in the community, but yet go and recruit on other people's servers. You guys prevent clans to recruit on your server and where do they have to turn. They could create their own server and recruit on there, but only get like 5 players a day on it because everyone is on GK. You basically make it impossible for new servers to start up. This is a issue that has to stop, GK is preventing new clans to start up within the community and hurting players more then they are helping them.
In alot of online games, servers ran by clans/communities typically have a no recruiting rule. GK isn't just a warband clan, its a community with over 100+ members active and 150-170 total(Figures might be off have not had access to the list in a long time). Warband might have brought them together but there are alot of games that get played together in there community. GK is a community not a close knit clan, they actively run events on there server to recruit more people and they are allowed to have there on set of rules on recuiting. There have been exceptions to the rules such as the rebels where allowed to recuit on the server.
On the issue on recruiting on POM, not once (In my knowledge) has GK been approached by a POM admin and told to stop recruiting. GK would have abide by this just as they expect you to abide by there rules when you play on there servers. GK is not perfect but nor is any other clan/server within this community.
And lastly GK pays the bill each month to run the server as they seem fit, and it seems to work.
