  1. A Question on Armagan/Ipek's Vision for the game

    I could have sworn that armagan had said that the main focus for now was to perfect the engine and the mod tools. One thing at a time and all. I took that to mean that they might make the basics of a plot but would leave any far-reaching epics and elaborate storylines to modders while they perfect the game itself (since they can only do so much at once). It sounded like a good plan for me, hopefully some talented teams will respond to the call and make a very cool game with their nice engine. Considering that we've had lots of modders generate some very fun mods even before the mod tools came out, I think it's a plan with a good chance of sucess.

    This is the message I see, btw. Looks like a limit in the renderer... I'm running a athlon64 3000+ with x800 XL graphics card and 1 GB RAM. As you can see, I was retrying that huge battle with the sea raiders, with epic results. I guess keeping all the killing in one small patch of field kind of fills up the rendering eh? Any way to get corpses to disappear once people die?

    Maybe number of bodies or something like that? The corpses were really piling up in the 70 vs 70 fight I had going on.

    It was pretty sweet, but crashed a few minutes into my titanic battle with the sea raider horde at 200%. I'll have to right down the failed assertion next time.

  6. how to shoot and aim with arrows correctly

    The colors of the tracks on the map screen tell you how recently the tracks were made. Red = made within the hour, blue = made 8 hours ago, I think.
  7. Weapons in battle

    Polearms too weak? Lances are awesome. If someone with great armor actually survives my couched lance damage on the first pass, they're down to below 20 health for the next, and that doesn't happen very often. It's almost cheating...

    Bran is back! He just appeared one day wandering the map where I lost him in the first place. I know he wasn't wandering the whole time because I used the ctrl+t cheat and looked everywhere for him a couple times when I first lost him. Weird, huh?

    Tip: Always tell your heroes to wait at the inn!

    If you need any inspiration for M&B style storylines, check out the old Conan novels by Robert E. Howard and L Sprague de Camp. Pulp sword&sorcery (with plenty of sword) at its finest.

    The specifics of my vanishing NPC incident were

    1) Rescued kidnapped girl but did not capture her because party was full.
    2) Talked to crossbow guy and told him to wait there for me.
    3) Talked to kidnapped girl and had her join.
    4) Went to Curaw to drop her off.
    5) Came back to Tulga, the crossbow guy wasn't there. He might have even disappeared as I started walking away but I'm not sure.

    I don't like being beaten :smile: , and I don't know if there is a damage cap, but I guessing someone will eventually reach it.

    I'll let you know if I find any more features then. :razz: I didn't really need crossbow guy anyway, now I have two slots open to train up a corps of knights so that I can hope to take down some of these giant armies that are roaming the hills. The more I play the more I'm pretty excited over the possibilities of this engine and the elite mod teams we have here... I mean just think about what we'll have once an actual mod toolset is released. Good stuff.
  14. Mount&Blade at modDB

    ModDB is a great site, I go there to get mod information for halflife2 and ut2004 all the time. A lot of people go there to check out cool games that are different than the normal crap you see on store shelves so IMO M&B and its mods would fit in perfectly. Apparently they are going to come out with options to download mods from their site (instead of just linking webpages) but for now it's still not implemented.

    Still, can't hurt to throw up a page, it just takes a couple paragraphs of description and some screenshots.

    These two mods are great! Good work guys.

    The one problem I have had so far is that when I left the crossbow guy on the world map instead of the four ways inn, he disappeared forever (apparently). I even cheated to look around the world map and didn't see him wandering anywhere.

    Also, when I was in Jelkala getting the "capture deserter leader" quest from Count Nourbis, when I accepted he said "Excellent im a counttest." and then the rest of his speech.

    Sweet mods though, they really made the game fun again for me. :smile: If this is the way M&B modding and developing are going to work together then I anticipate a really high quality product.
