Realism
No it isn't. An atheist has no belief since, in order to be atheist, you must reject all supernatural explanations for the universe. If you believe in something, you're not an atheist.
You still have problems there with strong assertions - stating that "god does not exist" goes outside of what can be empirically proved, and into the realm of belief. Of course, you can rephrase it as "I have seen no evidence of the existence of any god", but then you're in Huxleyian agnostic territory.

But then the definition of atheist will forever be the subject of unending internet arguments.

On topic - given that the devs are based in Turkey, and the increasingly extreme religious views and views against religion globally in general, as well as Turkey in particular, I totally understand why they'd take the simplest approach and just omit it. That way, no one can be offended, theists, atheists, pantheists or flyingSpaghettiMonsterists alike.

It'd be good fun to have in any attempt at a realistic Middle Ages mod though, as it would have the capacity to change the dynamic of the game considerably.

Also, is there any documentation on precisely what a marshal can do?

    Starting a war?

I'm a vassal of the Khergits who are at peace with everyone, and managed to get the Rhodoks very anti me (I swear I clicked loot village by mistake... four or five times). So I have the Rhodoks zerg rushing my castles, but can't fall back on my faction. I've learnt a lesson here for my next game...

    Sibilance,
Just noticed I forgot to reply to your post . Changing skills to rely on different stats is actually quite easy, just open up skills.txt and find

Change the 2 to a 3 and it will use charisma. 0 is strength, 1 is agility, 2 is int, 3 is charisma.

Just a clarifying note - it seems that party skills add +16 to the above, so surgery relies on INT (2), but as it's a party skill, the skill number is 18.

Newbie quertions re: Bashetur, companions/heroes, controlling companions

Okay, one more thing, I captured a Vaegar lord two (game) weeks previously, and no-one really seems to care. Can I induce them to care?

Thanks for that Berpol I'm buying crossbows right now- another couple of questions spring to mind now... I've just purchased a serial online (yay for early pay days), is there any manual available? Also, what factors influence world map speed? Pathfinding, horses? I read in the wiki on the section in trade that having packhorses speeds up a party to a certain point - for my Nord infantry army would this work?

Hi all, I'm just playing through the 1.003 trial version, and loving it so far, definitely going to buy it when my pay comes in, but I have a few newbie questions in the interim... From reading the Mount & Blade wiki, Bashetur would really fit in to my Khergit warband with his horse archery...
